Course Curriculum Overview
Course is some what relevant for civil engineering department. Various PSU hire directly through the placement process showing the relevance of our course. Further you can score very good marks in GATE if you are well versed with the course thought to you. There is some room for improvement tought. Most industry standard tools are tought to you but a few are not. Further impact based content and open ended brain storming questions are somewhat absent from the course.

Though the number of recruiters and avg package is lower than that of other IITs, but still you can expect a 20 to 30lk job on Day 1 of Placement season with is at par with other IITs. Faculty
Faculty to student ratio: 1:50 Exam system: Thought the dates and slot of mid semester and end semester exams are pre decided, there some ambiguity in dates for quizes as it is decided by the course instructor. Further most faculty use relative grading scheme but the nature and strategy of that is up to the faculty. The pattern of questions asked in exam is also up to the faculty. It can be easy if the professor is chill and vice versa. Course structure: It is pretty straight forward. There are few compulsory courses and few electives. There are 3 type of electives: open, department and HSS. In department electives you can choose any course of the department. In open electives you can choose any course of other department. In HSS electives you can choose any course of humanities department. Further you can also audit a course that means you can take a course for knowledge enhancement purposes but it wont be taken into consideration in you grades. Faculty insight: For civil engineering department most of the faculty are pretty good except for the environment department. Most of the faculty in this department work hard to make students life difficult. Some names include Prof Javed, Prof. Ajay Kalamdar.
