Course Curriculum Overview

5

Course is some what relevant for civil engineering department. Various PSU hire directly through the placement process showing the relevance of our course. Further you can score very good marks in GATE if you are well versed with the course thought to you. There is some room for improvement tought. Most industry standard tools are tought to you but a few are not. Further impact based content and open ended brain storming questions are somewhat absent from the course.

Internships Opportunities

2

Internship opportunity is not as good as placements in terms of numbers. Generally only 50% students are able to secure internship through campus, but there are loads of opportunities off campus also for us. Some companies include: BCG, American express, bny melon, rubrix, mastercard, oracle, Microsoft, google, slb, and many more. Average stipend is around 20k to 50k.

Placement Experience

5

Placement were pretty good. If you have a good profile then you wont struggle to find a job. Though the number of recruiters and avg package is lower than that of other IITs, but still you can expect a 20 to 30lk job on Day 1 of Placement season with is at par with other IITs. Though the number if such recruiters is not massive but is good enough for almost everyone. Placement stats: Avg percent of students getting placed: 80 to 100% Avg package: Day 1: 30 to 40lk Day 2: 15 to 25lk Day 3: 10lk Post Day 3: 5 to 10lk Overall: 10 to 12lk Note: most btech students get placed before day 3 Number of recruiters: 200+ Number of offers made: 4000+

5

Social life is very good at IITG. There are various student clubs in the feits of Technology, Cultural, Sports and Welfare. Like finance club, coding club, racing team, consulting club and many more in technology hockey club, cricket club, squash club and more in sports, dance club, film making, fine arts, music club and many more in Cultural, social welfare club, eco club, and more in welfare. There is drinking water facilities very and washing machines accessible from your room. Also for entertainment purposes there is a game room and a TV room in every hostel. You also get a gym, a canteen, a juice centre, a stationary, a library in every hostel Mess: Mess meals are average only. On some days its pretty good on some days its bad. Mess menu is decided by the student body so you can put forward your wishes. Also the food is prepared using high quality ingredients in a hygienic environment so you need not worry on that front. Also the food is very nutritious. You get milk, fruits, sweets and sprouts everyday.

Admission

Admission process: Jee Advanced based JoSSA councilling Document verification at time of admission Other college applied to: IITD, IITB, IITM, IITBHU, IITH, IITGandinagar, IITK IITKGP Why IITG? Better infrastructure and campus life from IITBHU and IITH Lower cutoff from IITD, IITB, IITK IITKGP Better placement stats from IITH AND IITBHU Better accessibility from my home city

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio: 1:50 Exam system: Thought the dates and slot of mid semester and end semester exams are pre decided, there some ambiguity in dates for quizes as it is decided by the course instructor. Further most faculty use relative grading scheme but the nature and strategy of that is up to the faculty. The pattern of questions asked in exam is also up to the faculty. It can be easy if the professor is chill and vice versa. Course structure: It is pretty straight forward. There are few compulsory courses and few electives. There are 3 type of electives: open, department and HSS. In department electives you can choose any course of the department. In open electives you can choose any course of other department. In HSS electives you can choose any course of humanities department. Further you can also audit a course that means you can take a course for knowledge enhancement purposes but it wont be taken into consideration in you grades. Faculty insight: For civil engineering department most of the faculty are pretty good except for the environment department. Most of the faculty in this department work hard to make students life difficult. Some names include Prof Javed, Prof. Ajay Kalamdar.

Night Life

5

Most of the student activity centres are operational till 11pm. Other academic centres are operational 24×7. There is no restrictions on hostel leave timing. You can roam around wherever you want. Further food centres like canteens are also operational throughout the night. Roaming around at night is very safe. You need not worry about anything. Few hangout places: khokha, canteens, new sac, library, ccd, lake side, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum they will show you before admission is completely different what you will be getting. They will be covering things but not with a higher level. In a subject easy topics will be covered but when teacher find any topic difficult , it will not come in exam since everyone has to pass the exam. They can just follow the GATE exam curruculum and that would be enough for any students to outperform after engineering with real time lap teaching. There is semister exam only where you will have to give workshop and lab exam along with theory paper

Placement Experience:

Placements start from 7th semester (4th Year). Companies like Amazon, Legato, TCS, Synopsis, etc. visit for on campus placements. We have a very good placement ratio and average package. For CSE, the average package was 13 LPA and 92% students were placed. While for ECE, the average package was 8 LPA and 66% students were placed. I'm planning on gaining work experience for 2 years after my B.Tech and then pursue MS Or M.Tech from abroad.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
