CEED 2026 Examination Format and Marking Scheme
The CEED 2026 examination will be conducted in two parts; Part A and Part B, each designed to evaluate different aspects of a candidate’s design aptitude.
Part A will be held in online mode and will include objective-type questions of three categories:
- Numerical Answer Type (NAT)
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
- Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
This section will assess the candidate’s visual and spatial ability, analytical reasoning, environmental and social awareness, language skills, observation, and design sensitivity.
Part B, on the other hand, will consist of five descriptive questions aimed at testing design, drawing, and writing skills. While the questions will be displayed on the computer screen, candidates will be required to record their responses in an answer book provided by the invigilator.
The final score will be calculated using the following formula:
Final Score = 0.25 × (Marks in Part A) + 0.75 × (Marks in Part B)
What are the Eligibility Criteria for CEED 2026?
The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2026 registration process is now open through the official website ceed.iitb.ac.in. The entire process is conducted online under the supervision of IIT Bombay.
Candidates are required to fill in their personal, academic, and communication details, select their preferred exam centres, upload necessary documents such as a recent photograph, signature, degree or diploma certificate, and category/PwD certificates (if applicable), and finally, complete the fee payment.
The registration fee for CEED 2026 has been set at ₹4,000 for general category candidates, while women, SC/ST, and PwD candidates will pay a reduced fee of ₹2,000.
In terms of eligibility, applicants must have completed or be in the final year of a degree, diploma, or postgraduate programme of at least three years’ duration after 10+2, or have passed the GD Arts diploma (10+5 pattern) by July 2026. Notably, there is no age limit for appearing in the exam.
Additionally, PwD candidates who require assistance may be provided with a scribe (amanuensis), but this facility will be available only for Part A of the examination and not for Part B.
How to Register for the CEED 2026?
Clearing the CEED 2026 examination does not automatically ensure admission to any design programme. Candidates must apply separately to the respective institutes and meet their individual selection requirements, which may include written tests, interviews, portfolio assessments, and eligibility checks.
Some of the leading institutes accepting CEED 2026 scores include:
- IIT Bombay (IDC School of Design)
- IIT Delhi
- IIT Guwahati
- IIT Hyderabad
- IIT Roorkee
- IIT Kanpur
- IIITDM Jabalpur
- IIITDM Kancheepuram
- IISc Bangalore (for select design programmes)
Applicants are advised to visit the official websites of each participating institute to review detailed information regarding admission criteria, seat matrix, and application deadlines.
Once registered, candidates must keep a close eye on the CEED 2026 timeline — the admit card will be released on January 2, followed by the draft answer key in January, and the final result on March 4, 2026.
After qualifying, aspirants will proceed to institute-specific admission rounds, which may involve portfolios, interviews, or written evaluations.
