It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

The attendance policy there is approximately 85% attendance which is very bad
Night time there is time restrictions issue which is bad
No sports culture supports are provided by college

Placement Experience:

The placement of our college is good talking to my branch that is mining placement is 100% and the average is 12 lpa approx highest package that is offered is 31 lpa . And the highest packega of our college which is from electronic and communication is 1.2 cr

Why you should choose NITR?

Likes

Good exposure to industry and the level pf organisation of fest is amazing so that you enjoy along with get guest lectures from highly talented personalities.
Many clubs are there so that you can develop your co-curricular.
Everything is on time. Even after classes you have plenty of time for revision and your co-curricular

Dislikes

Hostel are filled up above the capacity it was built for
Large class size so that there is gap between profs and some students
High pace studies as the syllabus is huge and time is given less.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is good as per industry we have AI workshop and lecture in 2nd year course itself. But some of them might be outdated as I am a fresher I don't have much knowledge on that. But still a good syllabus.

All you need to know about NITRKL

Likes

Campus is very big with full greenery and pollution free air. Everything is available within the campus itself. Ragging free campus. Have good sports facilities.
Teachers are well qualified and easy to talk and approch to clear queries.
Very active in events and fests. ICS is also there for mental health of students

Dislikes

Very less interaction with seniors in 1st semester.
So much greenery bring insects. They can be seen anywhere from your room to outside area
No freshers party and Club inductions are held in 2nd sem not first

Placement Experience:

Placement record of NIT Rourkela is good. It is among the top 3 nit . Placement of tech are avg around 15-16 lakhs. While in core like civil it is around 9 lakhs. Highest package in cse was very high above 80 lakhs last year. Just placements in core field is a little hard to get

Our beautiful college

Likes

The thing I like in the college the study environment.
Also I like the good air quality and weather.
The facilities are also good and the fests are also good.

Dislikes

The thing I dislike in the college lack of a auditorium.
A Little bit mess food because they use beans and banana in the vegetable.
Another thing I dislike is the late entry in the night.

Placement Experience:

I'm first year student that's why I don't know too much about this section but as far as I know placements and internship starts from sixth semester and it is going through whole year. A lot of companies visited .

NIT Rourkela:One of the Best engineering college

Likes

NIT Rourkela has a big campus of 1200 acre with a great infrastructure.
The last green campus will always feel you good and the fest will never let you to be bored.
The teachers are well known to the subject and the teach very well to the students and try to reach each and every student during the class.

Dislikes

There is almost nothing which you did like about NIT Rourkela.
Maybe you don't like the mess food but still it vary from person to person.
The hostels are well clean but since the boys hostel is very old you may feel it a bit clumsy.

Placement Experience:

Most probably from 3rd year you are eligible for campus placement and many companies like Google, Infosys, TCS, Amazon ,Reliance visit NIT Rourkela. The highest package in this year that is 2024 is 1.2 crore which is from electronic and communication branch, the average package of NIT Rourkela is around 11 to 12 lpa and 90% of student get placed in NIT Rourkela and in most of the cases the non place students of for higher studies and that's the reason they have not gone for placement.

NIT ROURKELA- IN A SIMPLE LANGUAGE

Likes

I liked the campus experience and it's excellent infrastructure
I liked the classroom and teaching style of faculties.Girls to Boys ratio is 1:4
I liked the hostel facilities, sports facilities and club activities..

Dislikes

I disliked the 85% attendance in classes.
I disliked the timing of fests which is just before the semester exams.
I disliked the time gap between classes and exams.

Placement Experience:

Our placement statistics is excellent and many jobs were offered by various companies.Companies provided internship from 3rd year onwards.Placments are from 4th year.Around 1300+ jobs were offered with 98% placement having 1.20 Cr highest and average turns out to be 14 LPA.Companies like Amazon, Google,Tata,Sail,etc hire the students .

Why I choose nit Rourkela

Likes

The first things that comes to mind when I think about nit Rourkela is it's campus of 1200 acers .The campus itself comprises of mountain ,forests and ponds so you will not feel attached to the nature.There is no pollution at all.
The academic section of this institution is marvelous.Every department has its own speciality but computer science is the best .The department building are very beautiful and adorable.For the student who likes fest this place is for them .(Innovation
The faculty of nit Rourkela are well qualified in their subject and are very much co operative with the student .Any issue related to studies and personal problems we can directly reach to the Faculty advisory or faculty for advise.

Dislikes

You have to wake up early in the morning that is 8 am and rush to the lecture hall for your class.Some faculty allowed study for late coming but some don't allow so you should be careful with the faculty .
The minimum attendance is 85% so it's a major issue because you can't simply miss your class.If you are understanding well and good but if you are not then you have to sit in the class for your attendence.
If you are goal focused students then try to make friends of intrest so that both can help each other in study and other skills .Some unwanted friends can divert you from your goal . Living on the top floor of hostel feels like you are in Rajasthan.

After final year that is fourth one becomes eligable for campus placement. Google , microsoft ,Amazon ,Wipro ,Gail,Indian oil etc are the main company visiting nit rkl.The heighest package 83.5 lpa and avarage is about 13.4 About 90% of study get placement and other opt for higher studies and startup or govt jobs. I will like to take a good placement in an it company and enjoying working as a software developer.

Great Infrastructure with great resource and availability for students.
Students with different parts of country get all together and study which help in the overall development of the students.
The classes provided by highly classed professors are much better for overall understanding the course.

Dislikes

So, the college area is quite large so movement around might take long durations.
The demographics of the students are not that even in the college as 50% are of Odisha origin.
Most of the maintenance are not done in the hall residence

In NITR , above 90% students gets placed and in my department last year 96% students got placed and also the companies that come for recruitments consists of multi national companies and big corporation with average CTC of 12 lpa Placments drive run for 4th year btech students from there 7 th semester Compaies visted : Google, Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, Atlassian, Samsung, Qualcomm, Oracle, IBM, Maruti, etc. NO. of offers made were 1300 for students Highest package : 1.2 cr per annum Average package : 12.89 lpa Placement rate : 82.3% Plans after getting degree : I am highly invested in AI and ML enginnering so i want to get more learn about it and to get to any AI company .

Cleanliness and beauty of the campus are maintained everywhere
In our hostel sanitation is very good lan port is available in every room speed is also very good
Professors are highly educated and have unique teaching style

Dislikes

The mess food of any hostel is not so good except one which we call it green mess
There are some courses which have no need in our branch still we have to study
The cg calculation is absolute so in hard papers it is not acceptable

Placement Experience:

Our college provides campus placement. And it is too good our overall average package is 14.57 lpa and highest package is 1.2crpa and median package is 11.8 lpa . Average, median and highest package in cse is 21.6 lpa, 20 lpa , 83.6 lpa.

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
