Remarks

Overall Hindu College excels in each and every aspect, including teaching and non-teaching staff. The admin section is also very helpful and efficient. It is a wonderful space to spend the prime education years. If there has to be a negative remark, it is the washroom and toilet facilities. It is not well managed at all, especially the women's washrooms.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course and syllabus are mainly provided by the university. There are two main exams in a year, divided into semesters. Each semester is about five months long and in the end, a concluding exam is held. During each semester, students will be taught different aspects of the subjects of choice.

Placement Experience

0.5

Unfortunately, there is a limited placement system in the college. Especially if you are a humanities student.

College Events

4.5

The social life of Hindu College is superb. It may be a high renown education destination, but it also has a very happening social scene. The annual fest of the college is one of the best in the university. Its alumni like Arjun Rampal and Imtiaz Ali make a regular visit to the fests. Besides the annual fest, there are departmental fests that happen the year round. It is always good fun. Hindu college also has a good auditorium which is a hub for artistic conventions and seminars.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is divided into two parts. The first part is the admission fees which you pay at the time of admission. It is usually in between Rs 6000-7000. This will be paid annually for the duration of the course (3 yrs for Bachelors and 2 yrs for Masters). The second part is the examination fee which is paid for examinations. It is usually Rs 600-750. This is paid for the semester ending examinations (6 times for Bachelors and 4 times for Masters).

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not apply for any scholarship or education loan. But there are many options available. Information is available at the university website and can also be inquired at the college.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life at Hindu College has been one of the best times of my life. The campus has ample space for just hanging out and having a good time. The annual worship of the Virgin Tree is famous and gives a peek into the life of Hinduism. It is fun, liberating and joyful. The individual departments hold their own respective fests and invite students from other colleges to come and participate in the same. This is a good indication of an inclusive college atmosphere. The is a theater society in the college which is famous in the university for conducting plays and inviting famous plays to be held too. The college boasts a large football field and ample garden space.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

I stayed in the Northeastern House for Women hostel, which is operated under the Donor ministry of Northeast. It operates under the University of Delhi. It is the best hostel for girls. The food, compound, facilities and the staff are of the best level. Facilities include transportation to and fro to the university and an on-location canteen, AC reading and computer room and a common hall with spacious seating and TV. The annual fees of the hostel are Rs 22500- 25500, which will be paid at the time of admission to the hostel. Out of these admission fees, a sum of Rs 5000 will be returned at the time of vacating the hostel. Besides this, a quarterly fee of Rs 8500 -9000 is to be paid.

Alumni/Alumna

In my experience, the senior of the college made it easier to adjust to college life. They have been helpful in my time and advised me to be the same as my juniors who will come after me. The alumnus of the college is a prestigious list. They come to the college on special functions to encourage the students and remind of the prestige of the college.

Admission

I got admission to the college through the Department of English, University of Delhi. The department, after checking the entrance score to it's master's program shortlisted colleges for admission. Hindu College has its individual cut off marks, only after attaining the cut off marks can one be eligible for admission to the college itself. The admin and the staff of the college are very helpful and efficient. The requirements of the admission such as the documents needed should be prepared in advance for a smooth admission process. Usually, there is a period of two to three days available to the aspirant to complete the admission process.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of Hindu College is one of the best in the whole University of Delhi. The entire staff is helpful inside and outside the classroom. The teachers are friendly and easy to approach. For my subject, the faculty was well learned and well able to guide me through my higher education. As such, the English department of the college is of a very high standard.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have always held that the training I recieved during my masters programme prepared the grounds for my future development. The teaching pedagogy was centres around participation and a two way dialogue. I am not in the capacity to be suggesting improvements in curriculum as my stint in the university was almost perfect- more than I could have ever asked for.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well designed by the renowned professors and faculty members from different universities in India and from abroad as well. The content was choosen keeping in mind to cover all the aspects of the specific subject for a pg student. As I mentioned before, the quality of study material was very good and helpful and very enough. But the pg thesis is missing from our course, due to which we were not able to do a research project. It appears to me after the completion of my first year that we can do our research under our given faculty but it wasn't mentioned in the course structure as it is mainly upto our faculties.

Course Curriculum Overview:

For the course i must say that this is something everyone needs to study about even if it's for just a part. We have ethics, moral, cultural relativism and etc. In our syllabus and it all really help to make our thinking rational, to see World from that point of view from where one can see the clarity. It's really necessary for improvement in personality and making good decision. I think there's need for making this course more practical like teaching, we can teach students about essentials of philosophy for there betterment of decision making from an early age.
