Likes
- We don't have classes in our respective colleges in masters . We have our classes in faculty of social science which is just opposite to drc building and the good thing is all students around 300 of study in same class together .
- Great infrastructure, ac installed in the fss and satyakam building.
- Highly qualified faculty and helpful throughout the course.
Dislikes
- Since our classes are held in faculty of social sciences building and not in respective colleges so we don't get to experience the exposure of our colleges .
- But what I have seen in drc while visiting for documentation work, the infrastructure is not really great and but they are building new ones and trying to make in better.
- Fee is too high compared to other colleges.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of our course offers various branches of political science, like comparative politics, political theory, international relations, security studies, gender and ir, public administration, indian polity , social exclusion, etc which enriches your understanding of the domestic and international politics.
Fees and Financial Aid
For masters in political science, drc charges 30k per annum fee which totals to 60k for 2 year course. They do give opportunity for fee concession in second year, for that we have to fill a form and submit, though the relaxation is not much ,it reduces fee from 30k to 24-25 k only.
Campus Life
There are many clubs and societies in drc like music society, dance society, debate, drama society,etc. The annual fest is called manjhiri which is quite good and fun. Library is quite rich with many books of different disciplines and international authors. Sports are also offered to students and has a huge field for it.
Admission
I applied to jnu, du, pondicherry university, university of Hyderabad and bhu. I got in all of them except jnu. After jnu , i found du to be other great option for pursuing masters . There are multiple colleges in du itself and I got drc according to my preference and cutoff. I put drc on fifth preference and its a good choice considering its ranking and overall prestige. We have to give cuet pg exam , then apply to colleges we want to get in and then according to our marks ,preference list and cut-offs, colleges are allotted to us.
Faculty
Faculty is highly qualified and learned , we even get to read from the articles written by our own faculty professors. They are around 20 faculty members and students are around 300 . There are total 4 semesters . In first two , 4 papers are compulsory in each sem. In second year, you will get to choose from provided options, 4 papers in each sem and one applied political science in sem 4. There are internals and externals in each sem. External exam is only written and internals consists of class tests , research paper, book review, presentations,etc. Exams are not very tough if you have studied well , followed the readings and classes but marking is little too strict.
Night Life
University area is really happening and has many cafe's nearby in kamla nagar, Maurice nagar, patel chest , vijay nagar. College canteen is also budget friendly and food is decent. There are momo stalls and paratha stalls outside the gate.
