Remarks

This is a good university to pursue your MA english in only if you didn't make it to one f the better more devoted to honest academic research and teaching, universities.

Entrance Preview

I took the common entrance exam for MA English required by all who wish to apply to DU for masters in English and those students who did their graduation from DU but did not score a first class degree. The test was out of 100 where I scored a 69, placing 19th out of 500 or more students i did my BA English graduation from Calcutta University, and hoped to follow up with something better in the glorified country capital university, whose name everyone recognizes to be honest, it was particularly the brand name that lured me, the recognition associated with DU also the Department website boasted of a spectacular faculty board, which only helped to strengthen my choice.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The course curriculum is better than most places, with a focus on literature beyond the British canon also, included in the course are choices to opt for inter-departmental classes, and interesting courses such as Latin and Greek, Linguistics, New Literatures, Visual Arts, etc.

Internships Opportunities

Our college at least my department does not offer any internships not is there any scope for us to apply for one in the colleges to which we are enrolled, in my case, Hindu College.

Placement Experience

0.5

There is definitely no such thing we graduate and make the best of our available choices on our own, sometimes, if we are lucky, with help from the teachers.

College Events

1.5

We don't celebrate any event as such at the Arts Faculty this is something more in tune with the respective colleges hindu College has a phenomenal fest every year that goes by the name of mecca several other events and festivals are celebrated all year round.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is moderate and can be made to suit the economically less fortunate as well although the fee depends on the college to which you're enrolled on an average the semester fee is roughly 7000-10000.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

I am not aware of any such scholarships Information about this can be found on the university website or inquired at the Dean's or vice-chancellor's office.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life is good, in only so much as you make good friends to tide you over the dismal academic experience most days can be quite exhausting especially if you're living alone, and come to college after tidying up behind you, expecting some good classes, only to be disappointed.

Hostel Facilities

1

The Hindu Hostel, despite being a co-ed college, has no hostel facilities for women this is an issue with most of the co-ed colleges under DU and with all the other departmental post graduate courses while there are excellent standalone hostels for men, w

Alumni/Alumna

I cannot comment on this yet I do know that there are some teachers, and many ex teachers, who are extremely fond of and helpful towards their students beyond this, I'm not sure how well knit the network is.

Exam Structure

Exam structure, as it is in 98% of Indian Universities, is based primarily on the rote learning capacities of pupils I would think that as a post graduate student, the focus would be more on research and less on factual learning.

Faculty

2.5

This is where the university drastically fell short of its promise the faculty, sadly, is not fit to teach a course like masters in literature in a prestigious college like DU i cannot take names, but there are professors who make blatant factual mistakes

I think everything is perfect in IGNOU university. In case you have opportunity or time to go there, you should go and see the teachers there are very supportive and always ready to help. They never refuse for help.

According to me, coming to JNU has been an life-altering experience for me. It has taught to embrace people from different backgrounds equally and also lended me the confidence to speak out my mind, even when it is not a popular opinion, whenever I want to. Also, the freedom of personal space that one can enjoy in this campus, without falling prey to any judgement, is also very inspiring and motivating.

This is the best and most affordable university in entire country. Students come from every background in this university. The diversity it provides in terms of International students and students from marginalized sections, amplifies the quality of classroom many times.

Remarks:

Overall Hindu College excels in each and every aspect, including teaching and non-teaching staff. The admin section is also very helpful and efficient. It is a wonderful space to spend the prime education years. If there has to be a negative remark, it is the washroom and toilet facilities. It is not well managed at all, especially the women's washrooms.

SAU is good in faculty and curriculum but its not good in facilities. Sau don't have any good campus. It feels like that one is coming in an institute to attend classes. Despite having great fees i.e. almost 30k per semester they provide us with zero facilities. Its a place for hostllers. Students coming from other states can find this place heaven. But for day scholars like me its like a punishment. I don't feel like going to college as you are excluded. Either they should have hostels for everyone or they should have other facilities.
