Central Sanskrit University, formerly Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, is a central university located in New Delhi, India for the promotion of Sanskrit. Founded in 1970, it serves under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, and is also accredited with a grade ‘A’ by NAAC. In March 2020, the Parliament of India passed the Central Sanskrit Universities Act, 2020 to upgrade it from deemed to be university status to central university status, along with two other universities National Sanskrit University and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University. Central Sanskrit University offers a variety of UG and PG Sanskrit programs. Admission to UG and PG programs is based on merit results from entrance exams such as the CUET UG and CUET PG respectively. However, Admission to the BEd program is based on a CSSET exam followed by an interview, whereas admission to the M.Ed program is based on a valid CSAET score. Central Sanskrit University Admission

Central Sanskrit University admits students to a variety of UG and PG Sanskrit programs. Admission to UG and PG programs is based on merit results from entrance exams such as the CUET UG and CUET PG respectively. Admission to the BEd program is based on a CSSET exam followed by an interview, whereas admission to the M.Ed program is based on a valid CSAET score. Entrance to the Ph.D. and D.Litt programs is based on merit in the entrance exam (CVVET). Applicants with a valid NET/JRF/Lectureship Test/SLET score or an M.Phil degree in Sanskrit/Education are exempted from the entrance test. Central Sanskrit University Scholarship

The Central Sanskrit University, Delhi implements various schemes of the Central Government for the cultivation and propagation of the Sanskrit language and literature. The Government of India offers Sanskrit scholarships through Central Sanskrit University of up to INR 2,500 to students studying Sanskrit as a primary or optional subject in graduation, post-graduation, and Ph.D level. The students are chosen for the Sanskrit scholarship based on their merit. Central Sanskrit University Scholarship is awarded to students who have secured a minimum percentage or equivalent grade in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit and can apply for overall scholarship in all subjects –

  • General Category - 60% marks
  • SC/ST/Differently abled - 50% marks
  • OBC - 55% marks

The number of scholarships awarded each year is subject to the availability of funds. Online applications will be invited through advertisements circulated in prominent leading newspapers across India between the months of July and August every year. Following are the details of Central Sanskrit University Scholarships:

  • Applicants must have completed their graduation with at least 60% overall and 60% in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit.
  • Second-year PG students must have completed the preceding two semesters or one year with 60% marks and have chosen Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit as their current class language.
INR 1,000 per month for a duration of 10 months
Vidyavaridhi/PhD or equivalent
  • Applicants must have completed PG or Acharya with at least 60% overall.
  • Candidates must have registered for the Ph.D. program prior to the announcement of the Sanskrit scholarship.
INR 2,500 per month for 12 months along with a contingency grant of INR 5,000 per annum for two years

There are two parts in the SSET exam Part A and Part B. There is a 10 mins break in between the exam. In part A usually the literature and grammar along with proficiency is analysed which is of 160 marks in total and in Part B includes comprehension test and Creative writing which is 40 marks in total.
