Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is great here. All the important topics are in your syllabus which are also followed in top class institutions in our country. So I don't think that there is any area left which can be improved. Teachers are great and their teaching methods are very unique. They have their own style of teaching and the styles are effective also.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internship opportunities are rare in our college as the placement cell officer is inactive. So we have to find it in our own way. But in the past years, IBM, geotech and TCS took some students as their interns.

Placement Experience

4

See the placement scenario here is different from other colleges. The bitter truth is ,the ceramic department gets the best placement here. The average package of CT is 8.5 lakhs per annum whereas CSE and IT have an average package of 4.5-6 LPA. The placement cell officer is inactive in CSE - IT department so students take part in the placement cell. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Cognizant visit our college. Beside this, Geotech and the IBM also visited in recent years. So the placement is okay to good in level.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is different for different streams. For CSE, it requires 12400 per year. For IT,it is 24800 per year and for CT, it is 6200 per year. So the fees are very less as compared to other govt institutions (except JU). As fees are very low, I think that no one will face any kind of problem regarding the fee structure. Beside this, students who get SVMCM scholarship, have to keep this in mind that if you get any backlog, your scholarship will be cancelled. Currently I'm a student and I didn't take any kind of job roles but I will definitely try in future.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is great. We have our annual cultural fest named "Jagriti" on March and our tech fest "Karmatek". Except these, different kind of fests are often organised. There are different clubs like tech club, dance club, music club, chess club and so on. Anyone can join these clubs and there are no limit in joining these clubs. We have large classrooms with modern equipments and ACs also in senior classes. So a fresher will experience a great atmosphere here.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

At first I want to clarify that I applied for hostel but got denied. From friends,I came to know that hostel can only afford 30 students in which most are seniors. It charges around 1K per month and gives meals for 2 times per day. It has high speed WiFi and a mini playground and other game equipments. Also the badminton court and football ground of the college is accessible as the hostel is inside of the college premises.

Admission

The admission process was very easy. I got a GMR of 2220 and I got selected in 1st round through the WBJEE. You need to score atleast 60% in your (10+2) examination and prepare for WBJEE. If you're in reserved category then you need a rank of 3.5k to get a seat in Computer Science and Engineering department. They take the exams in every 5-6 months and the difficulty level is easy.

Other Applied Colleges

University of Calcutta | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

My rank was just behind of its closing rank

I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

Students generally start getting their pre-placement offers from their 3rd year after completion of their internships other students gets their placement too in their final year. Starting from Apple to Google and Microsoft too hired some of our senior but the number of the students get placed in those tech giant companies is very less but there are mass recruiters too like TCS infosys PW chaitanya education TATA steel BHARAT petroleum and many other companies the offers are made based upon the eligibility of the students and the packages are decided based on the skillset and experience of the students . Highest package was 70 LPA this year and the average packages are also pretty good based upom the companies and their offers it ranges from 15-30 LPA .Almost 80-83% students gets placed but it depends on the branch of the students and their skillsets.I want to sit for GATE exam after completion of my BTech and want to persue MTech

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university is MAKAUT so the curriculum is up to the mark. I liked Programming so I chose B.TECH in CSE. The curriculum is very basic in terms of practical world problem though they are building blocks, but you need to do the extra bit of work to qualify for the real world scenarios. I think more mandatory projects integrated with current set of skills would be a cherry on top. Exams are very frequent like every 3-4 months there is a semester exam and they are moderately difficult.
