Remarks

The college management is very helpful, during my tenure I have interacted with them on many instances. For our trips, our fests they were the right person to go to. They staff overall is helpful and coordinating.

Entrance Preview

Best of four in the Class 12th Examinations and my best of 4 was 93.5%. There were colleges like JMC, Venky that I could pursue with the same cutoff but when I visited all these colleges, there was a homely feel about Gargi that actually made me enroll for the course here, My priority was the course in a good college and thats what made me pick Gargi over others.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is in compliance with the Delhi University standards. Gragi is very particular about classes and tutorials. Tutorials were in batch of 5-7 to give ample time to every student and classes were for entire batch. For our course we had 3 sections with about 50-60 students in each class. Apart from classes, there were ample opportunities to indulge in co-curricular activities, Gargi has about 15-18 societies apart from department unions and college students union that will help bring out the best in the students.

Internships Opportunities

College has a placement cell which offers opportunities to students. These opportunities vary every year depending upon different companies approaching the placement cell and vice-versa. These internships are for the 2 months duration that generally happen between June-August and new sessions start in August, with exams ending in May. The stipends vary from company to company and opportunity and exposure offered.

Placement Experience

4

The college has a number of corporate visiting the campus for placement opportunities, Deloitte, E&Y, KPMG, Capital IQ, Genpact are some of the major companies that visit the campus every year, The packages vary from 2 Lakh to 4.2 Lakh per annum depending upon the different companies and work type offered.

College Events

5

Reverie was the annual cultural fest, it is one of the biggest and most celebrated fests across Delhi University. I was a part of the Students Union of my college and we had invited Kailash Kher on the musical night, it was a 3 day event, with 1st day accomplished by the Choreography competition, second day was musical night with Kailash Kher and third day was Qawwali. There is a DJ during the day and there are a number of inter-college competitions like Street Play, Western Dance competition, Indian Dance (solo & group), Western Music, India Music etc. Apart from this, there is Diwali Mela, Cultural Day, Sports Day, Freshers Party, Farewell Party, and a number of competitions hosted by various departments which are also inter-college. In short, the entire year is jam packed with events and we never realized how 3 years went by.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is very minimal. It about 10,000 rupees for an year, which was for our course. Comparing to private institutions, its very affordable and even the canteen and other facilities are very student pocket friendly. There is a small fee for examination which is about 800-1000 rupees apart from the fee for course curriculum. This fee varies 10-15% across different courses.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are awards offered by the college for toppers of every course, apart from that there are awards for winners of Gargi Pathfinder award and one award for the overall best student. These awards have some cash and certificates. For scholarships for lower financial category students, kindly contact the office administration.

Campus Life

5

We are a all girls college so its 100% female population for the students, However, even teachers are mostly female but we do have male teachers for some courses. We have amazing societies that include Street play soc- Kshitij, Dram Soc, Indian Music, Western Music Society called Euphony, Indian Dance society, Western Dance Society called Enliven, Choreography Society called Sparx, Debates (both Hindi and English), Gandhi Study Circle, Equal Opportunity Cell, NSS and many others. The societies are exemplary and have won accolades across various competitions across universities.

Hostel Facilities

4

Our college did not have hostel facilities, but there were a number of PG facilities around college in Sadiq Nagar, South Extension, Greater Kailash etc. These PG's offer food and cleaning services in the overall cost and have a capacity of 2-3 girls in one room each.

Alumni/Alumna

We have an alumni cell and our alumni are very connected. There is an alumni meet every year and our teachers keep calling us to judge some events at our college fests. Its a very homely feeling to keep going back to your college and it still feels like we passed out just last year. The senior students are pretty helpful and also refer their companies to hire via the placement cell in Gargi.

Exam Structure

Exams at our time were annual, and I had a tough course, that meant 8, 9 and 7 papers in the three years respectively! We studied in classes and we had 4-5 lectures every day with every lecture lasting to 45 minutes. But there was ample time to engage in other activities in college. Now the schedule is semester wise and things are more hectic i guess for the students.

Admission

The process included filling up the OMR Form for colleges after visiting the campus, this was a physical submission, of course now everything happens online. Then we waited for various cut offs to be declared by the University, after the first cut-off, I took admission in Gargi.

Faculty

5

The teachers are highly qualified and take several measures to make concepts clear. There are regular assignments, tests and sessions with teachers that help the students cope up with the syllabus. The classes are usually very interactive and the faculty is experienced and inspires the students to achieve great results, There are research opportunities like the Gargi Pathfinder Award that help a student think beyond the normal course and find solutions ti existing problems in the society under the guidance of their teachers. The teachers are strict about timings and classes and ensure course completion before exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I will rate the daulat ram course 8/10. One of the main reasons i chose this course was that the syllabus felt balanced between theory and practical understanding..but the only drawback is that sometimes it felt a bit more theory based rather than practical exposure , the exam pattern is consistent mid-sem internals and end-sem finals twice a year. Internals are usually manageable, but end-semester exams depend a lot on the teacher marking style.

A good amount of students get place, approx 20 students were placed this tym in Deloitte. I will be continuing with ACCA only.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is as per Delhi University's official curriculum, so it's pretty good. But its very theoretical as well so if I would suggest an improvement it would be this to make the curriculum more real and practical life based rather than rote learning.

Students of 3rd year are eligible for the same. Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, Blackrock, Meesho etc being the most prestigious recruiters. Highest package varies, but it went around 36 L last year. Avg being around 8 L. I would say most students who apply for placements get placed, however only a few get placed in the top companies. I personally wish to pursue an MBA.
