Remarks

The college was pretty fair in terms of management, however, there is always scope for further improvement.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course was structured to enable deeper understanding on the subject. The course was split into three years. The way the entire course was designed has helped me to adapt better to the research environment where I am now working currently. There was industrial visit that opened our eyes to the applicability of the subject beyond exams and also provided insights into the research and development (R&D) aspects of the subject.

Placement Experience

3

We had a placement cell in the college. However, as I delved into the subject more and more, I was sure in my mind that I would want to pursue research in the future. So I did not avail placements as such.

College Events

3.5

We used to have an annual fest organised by the college. It was a big event and was attended by students from other colleges as well. Apart from that, each year our department organized fresher's welcome parties as well as farewell parties for outgoing students. I was especially interested in dramatics and used to participate every year in the drama group.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since it was a government college, the fee structure was nominal and thus feasible. The admission process was solely on the basis of merit and paying money was not an option for securing a guaranteed admission. The fee payment was completely transparent.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail any scholarship or loan. As mentioned earlier, the fees was feasible which did not require us to apply for loans.

Campus Life

The campus was extremely vibrant and all the departments openly conversed with each other. The campus has a fair equality in gender ratio. The campus was very neutral and open to diversity and discrimination on the basis of caste or religion was not practised. The college also supported extracurricular activities. We has a big playground for sports like cricket. We also had table tennis and other indoor games options. The college used to organize annual sports day. Moreover, we used have discussions and debates regularly on various topics that not only gave all of us a chance to interact but also broadened or knowledge and visions on various topics.

Hostel Facilities

No, I did not opted for hostel facilities as the college was near to where I lived. However, the college did not have any hostel facilities either as most of the students who studied were mostly from surrounding areas.

Alumni/Alumna

We got the chance to interact with our seniors. Since our college also provided post graduation course, our interaction with those students on the subjects made the subject for understandable and made learning fun.

Admission

I studied microbiology in that college for under-graduation. I took up that subject for my interest in biology and also because I was curious about those tiny microorganisms. My college was well known for its microbiology department. Given the very few colleges that were allowing me to have majors on the course, Bidhannagar college topped the list in terms of well equipped laboratories and faculties among all the others. Admission to the course was on the basis of merit and marks obtained in 12-th examination.

Faculty

4.5

We had 8 faculties in our department. All of them were experts in heir respective areas and held Ph.D degrees. They were extremely knowledgeable and their long association with academics made it easier for them to cater to the demands of the students. They were extremely friendly that made the learning process fun.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Placement Experience:

from 6/7 th semester onwards students become eligible for campus placements. Infosys visited with around 22-23 offers , Cognizant visited with arount 15-16 offers , TCS visited with several offers(not sure how many) , that's it the big names. Apart from these small startups and companies visited too. Highest package offered was 11lpa by TCS , 9.6lpa by infosys, 6.48lpa by Cognizant. Profiles were ASE in TCS , PAT in CTS , SET in Infosys. The percentage of students placed was less arount 30-40% , mostly because the curriculum lacks placement prep. I have joined Cognizant as a Programmer Analyst Trainee after graduating .

Placement Experience:

Actually this is a general degree University , so I must mention that placement facalities are not so good. But yes , Job Fair is organised in University by some external agencies which offer jobs varying 2-2.5 lakhs per annum . But in the university most of the students do not accept that jobs. Half of the students are more interested on the higher studies. So ahet completing the fourth semester they prepare for PhD. And the another half are preparing for central government sponsored exams like CGL, CHSL, RRB, SBI , IBPS, LIC etc. University has a significant number of students who have qualified for Government Competitive exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'd say the BBA LLB curriculam si quite relevent and comprehensive. the blend of business management and legal studies really made me choose this course because it gives a holistic understanding of both fields. The curriculum is pretty practical and prepares us well for real- world applications like internships and moot courts and also sets a strong foundation dor further studies in law. In term of Imporvements i think the curruculum could benefit from more interactive workshops and practical training sessions and somtimes a bit more hands on experience and indusry exposure help bridge the gap between thoery and practice. Regarding exams, I find the frequency and timing are well balanced. the semester exams come at a good pace and whike some subjects can be challenging they are definately manageable with consisnent study.
