Remarks

I don't think it's a bad choice for the best 3 years of my life. In one word I will suggest everyone to come and do visit our college campus and of course the management is good.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

There is CBCS system in the college. Two semesters in a year and 3 years of honours course. A lots of facilities are there; lab work, practicals, theories and the best part is our teachers. All are respected professors and they teach us so well. Last year in 1st semester we had a educational field work at risyap and lataguri.

Placement Experience

3

As I mentioned before this is a honours course college, so there are no direct placement system, but yes the post graduate and the research team are always there to welcome you in your field of interest and yes there are so many lectures and seminars are held in college who are giving you the opportunity to make your carrier.

College Events

4

There are so many events held in our college. Firstly as a government college there are so many cultural functions like 'youth parliament' on the week of Swami Vivekananda's birthday are held in our college. After that the other occasions like Republic Day, Saraswati puja, Basanta Utsav (Holi), Rabindra Jayanti, Independence day and many more. The annual college fest named 'Dhun' is also organised and more than 50 participants from different colleges get participated in many cultural and sports activities. After that the best thing is the Intra College Annual Sports meet where so many students take participate in many sports events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There are almost 60 mandatory core course classes and the others are practical and other lectures. As a government college the admission fees of this College is so less than others and the Semester fees and exam fees are also less compare to other colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes. Those who get a good marks get scholarship from college. There are also other scholarships for students.

Campus Life

4

I think the gender ratio is 50 - 50. So many workshops and debates are held often in our college. There are almost 1000+ students in our college and they came from a huge diversity. Tbh as a captain of our college football team we have a good football team, we have so many sportsman in our college. Some of them are international and national level player ( I'm also one of them ). The economy of our college is good and there's less politics in our college.

Hostel Facilities

3

And this is the point which is actually needed in our college. There are no hostel in our college and this is a problem for all those students who migrate here from different places only because of there studies.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the College seniors and the alumni association are so helpful. There's also a anti ragging cell in our college.

Admission

I opted Zoology as my honours subject because I always wanted to study about animals and animal behaviour and all. I got the admission in 2nd merit list in this college and. I wanted to study here for the faculties of this college and obviously for the huge playground. The college campus is huge and beautiful. For me the best thing of my college is the Principal of my college, Dr. Madhumita Manna. In my opinion she is the best teacher, guide, influencer and obviously a friend.

Faculty

4.5

All of the professors taught us so well for the whole year. There are almost 60 mandatory core course classes and the others are practical and other lectures. As I mentioned before all the professors are PhD holder and some of them are more highly qualified in their field of interest.

My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

In today's competitive job market it becomes important for the college to not just help students get degrees but also provide them with placements and internships so that they can have the experience needed to stand at a competitive footing with the rest of the candidates in the world. To look into this, St. Xavier's College has a Placement Cell run by Placements officer Mr. Niladri Sinha under whose guidance, various companies visit the college regularly looking for capable young minds to take under their wing and help provide them with the necessary exposure and experience so that they can combat any obstacles that they face.

The college offers good placements for economis. Students in their final year are eligible for campus placements and there is a cell dedicated to placements. Many students do not opt for placements and go for higher studies but many students who opt for it, get placed with decent packages. Many well-known companies visit the campus as well. I wish to explore my options after completing the degree as of now.
