Remarks

College management is perfect, just only negative point being they sometimes take too much time to reach a decision, rest everything is perfect.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Indian Statistical Institute, generally referred to ISI, is a research institute and the curriculum is also mostly designed according to that and thus demands extremely hard work and effort to put in. But this curriculum also attracts many corporate organizations and the average payment for my batch this year also was around 20 LPA. No industrial visit is done and I don't think it's even needed.

Placement Experience

5

The placements as I mentioned earlier also are the best that one can hope for. The recruitment drive is conducted around October every year and many world famous companies are a part of the drive. The placements are around 100% every year (for students who sit in placement, since everyone doesn't sit for placements and go for PhD's). No special preparation, our course is enough for that.

College Events

3

There is annual fest, known as Integration which has three chapters, each for a different weekend. The different chapters are technical, cultural and sports. It's too much at each of these, e.g. this year Local Train visited the campus. Then we have other events like farewell, freshers etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There is no fee for any course in our institute. Infact, we get stipend from institute. For masters, we get 8000 per month from institute. At time of admission, we have to pay a minimum library fee, which is also refunded at end of the course. The stipend is put in our account at every month end for each month.

Fees and Financial Aid

We don't have to avail for any scholarship, since every student by himself gets a stipend and in fact, if we apply for any other scholarship, we won't be eligible for that stipend. The only eligibility for stipend is you must maintain a percentage of 60 every sem to continue stipend in next sem.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is extremely amazing since we have very less number of students, every student nearly knows everyone else personally. Students from different states come together at this institution. Even I'm from Haryana and studying here in Kolkata. The gender ratio isn't very good, around 4× more boys than girls. Not much competitions are held. Students are from various economic status too. Infact, my father's average salary is around 10-15K a month and I'm studying here far from my home since I don't need to take any monetary help from my family.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Yes, I've opted for hostels. The hotels are not extremely good and well maintained. The rooms are too small and that too has to be shared between two persons. We have to pay 300 per month for the hostel which doesn't matter since we get 8000 every month from college. The college mess is also extremely bad.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network for our College is not so strong. But seniors are far more than helpful, be it study or any other issue, they are always ready to help us.

Admission

Firstly, there is written text which is conducted around Mid May every year which comprises of two exams, one objective and one subjective. Through result of written exam, an interview list is prepared and interviews happen in June end and then final merit list is shared.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is extremely hard-working. All the profs are PHD's from well known Universities around the world. All of them are well known for their research works too. The classes for each subject is 4 hours a week and student is also expected to put around the same time at his room too.

Placement Experience:

Actually this is a general degree University , so I must mention that placement facalities are not so good. But yes , Job Fair is organised in University by some external agencies which offer jobs varying 2-2.5 lakhs per annum . But in the university most of the students do not accept that jobs. Half of the students are more interested on the higher studies. So ahet completing the fourth semester they prepare for PhD. And the another half are preparing for central government sponsored exams like CGL, CHSL, RRB, SBI , IBPS, LIC etc. University has a significant number of students who have qualified for Government Competitive exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.

From the 2nd last semester, that is the final year, students become eligible for campus placements. Last year, two of our seniors got placed at Reborn Child Development Centre (Durgapur and Asansol) with an average package of Rs 200,000. This year, three students of our batch, including me, got an internship for three months at Reborn through an in-person interview.
