ISI kolkata, a place to go for.

If are good at Mathematics you feel it comfortable. But it will be hectic. The rules are quite different colleges or universities. I would suggest to go through them once. You have to work so hard to clear your courses. But you will get a lot to learn.

I will found many companies are opening for internships like goldman sacks, JP morgan, morgan stanley etc. regarding this you have any opportunituies in ISI. They are plenty opportunities. You should not worry a lot about it.

Placements are quite good.But if you are looking for placement I would suggest to join M Stat or MSQE rather than M Math. M.Math students mostly go for higher studies. Regarding you will better recommendations in ISI.

ISI doesn't have any fee for M.Math students. instead they provide a stipend of 8,000 per annum. I would suggest people who want to make career in mathematics and statistics it is the best choice for them.

Campus is kind of small so that opens a opportunity for to make interaction with many people. You would the climate bit uncomfortable. You will be fun around the campus. I liked the campus. The area around the campus is not too clean(not within the campus outside the campus).

You will be provided a single room with a common washroom. Rooms have enough space. They will provide a table and a chair and any repairs they will respond quickly and sort out within time. Would suggest to keep a extra table fan if you have issues with humidity, otherwise no issues.

The reason I opted this college is simple, it have some big names in Indian Mathematics like Ritabrata Munshi and Neena Gupta. And ISI is one the best research institutes of India in Statistics and Mathematics. And It has a legacy.

ISI have one of the best faculties. Course overs pure mathematics in depth. And exam is standard 100 marks scheme with atleast 50 for the finals. Rest 50 is depending upon the professor whether he want to class tests, or grade assignment or go for a midterm. Exams are from mid to hard, but won't that easy. I liked all of the faculty members, but when it comes to favorites I will go with Samik Basu and Mrinal Kanti Das, this guys are extraordinary. I found Ustav very chill and Jyothismann Bhowmik very helpful. PrathaSarathi is approach might feel uneasy but at the end you will love it. Even tough I did not attend Kingshook and Swagato's classes, I found they are good at teaching stuff

Most of the people work oduring nights. If you are in CV Raman hostel then night canteen is Available which will be handy during exams. Most of the people play box cricket, poker and some interesting stuff during nights. Night are real fun.
