Presently it subscribes to around 300 international Journals on various subjects.
Other Services: Various facilities are available at ISI, Bangalore for the creative and holistic development of the students.
The Bangalore Centre of the Indian Statistical Institute was conceived by Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis during the 1960s, even when the city was emerging as a center of science. It is a tribute to his foresight that the Institute is now well-established in one of the most vibrant scientific communities in Asia.
Due to the difficult times that ISI went through after the professor's death in 1972, the project of establishing Bangalore was temporarily shelved. It was left to Professor Kallianpur, the Director of ISI during 1976-78, to revive the idea, make concrete proposals to the Government of India and get grants for the development of the land already in possession of the Institute and the construction of an Academic Block with space for a library and offices. With the completion of the construction of the Administrative Block, the various units moved to the new campus in May 1985. However, it was only in September 1996, the Bangalore Centre was formally declared as a Centre of ISI.
ISI is an Institution that is controlled by one governing body but has different centers. And you will get your degree from ISI Kolkata only if you study in Bangalore, Delhi, and Chennai center also because that’s the headquarter of ISI. So, there is no difference between ISI Kolkata & Bangalore. ISI Bangalore has India’s “BEST” Bachelor’s course in Mathematics & ISI Kolkata has India’s “BEST” Bachelors’s course in Statistics. That is only the difference.

The time I entered the admission process was difficult. Nowadays it's a lot easier. You just need to write one exam to enter here. In my time there were interviews and the questions used to be a lot more difficult than now.
I did not apply to any other college other than Indian Statistical Institute- Bangalore, because this was my only aim and a dream college. I did not avail any quota and belong to the general category. The minimum age is 17 and the maximum is 20. The minimum marks vary depending on how the students have scored. The admission process was fairly simple. Approximately 1 month after the exam, an initial list of 85 students was declared from which the top 50 were eligible for admission and the rest were on the waiting list who would be eligible for admission in case of any vacancy. We got an email from the authorities right after the admission process got over. We were given a college email ID for official communication along with the date and time of counselling. On the day of counselling, some of the teachers along with the Head of ISIBC introduced us to the course and the campus along with the prerequisites for the course.
I applied to many IITs and Jadavpur University. However, being invested in Mathematics, I thought that ISI Bangalore will be best for me. Most importantly I do not regret my decision as its a great institute. I did not have any quota, however, there are reservation of seats in the institute. The admission process is a little difficult. They have a separate entrance exam which has olympiad level mathematics. The minimum age is 17 and maximum is 20. Also, in order to sit for the exam you need to have english and mathematics in +2. Due to covid we did not have any interviews which is difficult too. The counselling was easier for me as I was selected in the first list. However, the competition is high due to less number of seats.
The examination happens in two shifts in which honours students mostly get the morning slot and programme courses get the evening one. The timetable comes directly from the university and college has no hand in deciding dates. The examination and practicals are conducted very smoothly and water is also provided in between. Our college makes sure that a quite and peaceful evironment prevails during the whole examination time.
The course is apt for those who want to enhance their awareness regarding Mathematics concepts. The course involves Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, Pure Mathematics, Abstract Algebra and Number Theory, Statistical Modelling and Analysis and many more. The course is of 3 years.
The course was of three years consisted of 6 Semistars. And had all the subjects related to mathematics and the foundation subjects of computer science and physics as well as elective subject in the last year.
B.math (Hons.) Is a three years course and have total of six semistars. It's well focused on research and the structure consists of all the main subjects related to mathematics and also computer science (Programming) and physics is also part of the course curriculum which sets a basic foundation for physics and computer science as well.
The course was of three years consisted of 6 Semistars. And had all the subjects related to mathematics and the foundation subjects of computer science and physics as well as elective subject in the last year.
Because curricular is a very vast and it has a lot of subjects which has to be covered so it often leaves us very tired at the end of the day. But it is a part of our major and so we don? hesitate to learn it at the end of the day.
The course curriculum leaves the students a little hectic at the end of the day. There were so many classes and the students had to attend all of them. But all the subjects were taught in depth and very well
