ISI kolkata, a place to go for.

Likes

Library is good.It has many books. Ans there so standard collection that we usually don't afford or don't have any pdf copies online are also available.
Faculty is extraordinary. All of the members of SMU are working statisticians and Mathematics.
Even tough the campus not too big. It is really beautiful.

Dislikes

I think the admin block is little negligible. They don't respond to your queries immediately.
This one so causual. You might feel uncomfortable with food. It is tough for vegetarian, but you could survive.
I am sports person and ISI ground is too small .

Placement Experience:

Placements are quite good.But if you are looking for placement I would suggest to join M Stat or MSQE rather than M Math. M.Math students mostly go for higher studies. Regarding you will better recommendations in ISI.

there are various academic and carrier options
very nice seniors and they are very supportive
campus is good and sports options are also there

Dislikes

isi kolkata campus is small compared to others
less cultural fests are there in our college
no hostels are provided in campus, need to rent pg

students become eligible for campus placements as soon as they reach last semester, that is last semester of 4th year. highest package was 2cr offered. almost all students get placed here at isi kolkata

Placements are very supportive,aligned academics
Faculty is very knowledgeable,academics is hard but topics are made clear
Aligned coursework is there,relevant course useful for placements

Dislikes

Less engaging campus,less events and other celebrations
Not very much exposure to extra curricular activities

Course Curriculum Overview:

The placements are very effective The academics is quite applicable in real life There should be much programming oriented programmes,teaching is quite good ta's are also good The midsem and endsem is there every semester.Apart from there assignment are there,for programming courses programming exam is there.

Best faculties with active research contributions to their own field

Dislikes

Smaller campus size compared to reputation of the college

Placement Experience:

The placements are quite great . Those who opt for placement gets them . The highest offer was 63 LPA from M.Qror branch and average was more than 18 lakhs per annum.the companies which visited were BlackRock , optiver , Microsoft, Google , nomura bank etc. After completion of my degree I will pursue PhD which is the most followed path here .

Greater attention to individual students
All the facilities are accessible within a small range

Dislikes

Gender ratio is quite terrific compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

The placements are quite great. The highest package for M.stat people this year was 39 LPA ,for M.QROR was 63 LPA , for M.Math people was 36 LPA . The average of top 10% from each branch was nearly 80-90 of the highest package offered. All the students get placed whoever opts for placements in olace of higher studies. My plans after degree is to get placed un my dream MNC.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are quite good because more companies visit and students are less hence students get to choose between the offers they receive . according to the last year placements the highest package was 89 LPA , average was 20-25 LPA and the Median of Top 10 offers being bove 30 LPA

Know this before joining ISI

Small batch size and better Student Teacher ratio
Lush green campus and air conditionined classrooms

Dislikes

Lesser number of cafetarias inside the campus

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum has a unique blend of mathematical science with computer sciences . Also covering modern day topics like deep learning and Artificially intelligence. The curriculum prepares the individual for both academia and corporate sector . Tne areas of imporvement can be teachers being more handy while teaching using technology. Exams are held in every month with moderate to tough difficulty.

Likes

The professors here are excellent and fabulous at teaching.
The library here is too big and it contains a wide variety of books.
The campus is full of greenery and lots of ponds.

Dislikes

Most ofthe students are indulged in smoking.
Lots of formal processes are there to avail anything.
There is negligible sports facilities provided.

Placement Experience:

Placements are provided by the collge. Also, after first three years, we can also go for internships and learn basic skills. Also we have a choice to pursue Masters if we wish to after completing our Bachelors degree.

Dislikes

Nothing much, just the college does not provide much options in extra curricular activities.

Placement Experience:

Students can apply for placements after bachelors. But mostly do after masters, every student who applied for placements is placed, but a lot of students opt for PhD programs instead. All top companies like JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley come for placements.

ISI- The Mathematician's Paradise.

Likes

The environment, the friendly professors and seniors, the course, really are the best
Add to that the monthly stipend, no financial burden and stress free life for 5 years.

Dislikes

The infrastructure could be a bit better.

Placement Experience:

Students get placement offers in the first year of M.Stat. In general, however, most students prefer to go abroad for higher studies. Students who sit for placements mostly get placed in Finance and Analytics companies, typically in Business Analyst, Risk Analyst and other roles. ISI has a 100% placement record for B.Stat- M.Stat students. Companies like Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co., JP Morgan & Chase, Amazon, etc. come for placements. Last year, the highest package offered was 56 lpa with the package being 28 lpa. M.Tech CS had the highest overall package at 89 lpa.

What are reviews about ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) placements and MS programmes at centres in Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata?

Having to know some people studying at both Simsree and KJ Somaiya and here are some things that you should know. They both are equally good.

Both the institutes, for their MMS course, teach the same syllabus specified by the University of Mumbai. So, according to the content, there is no difference.
This is generally a good thing that you are specializing in something that roughly 4 to 5% of the batch will specialize in.
It is not as difficult for the placement committee to get companies with specific profiles.
The institutes have been there for a fairly long time and both have a steady pool of recruiters. Therefore, placements are not very problematic.
Having said that, placements depend on multiple factors, and nothing can be guaranteed.
K J Somaiya has more full-time faculty members whereas SIMSREE has more visiting faculty members. But cannot say the same about the operations specialization.

Irrespective of where you go, your responsibility is to get better, participate in competitions, do certifications, and improve yourself holistically. The institute cannot impose anything if you have no intention of doing it.
