Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum has unique blending of topics from bith pure and applied mathematics. The statistics portion covers the applied part and the analysis portion covers the pure maths part. The curriculum prepares one for the best positions in industry and in academia as well. The area of improvement can be making it a 4 year degree. The frequency of exams are quite high. Each week one has quizzes and assignments . Withing 2 months mid semester and within 4 months end semester. Exams are quite diffucult and 10% of a batch needs to repeat the year for failing.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship offers are quite great. This year for summer internships the highest stipend was 2.5 Lakhs per month and the average was around 1 lakh per month . People do internships in industry and in labs of different institutions of national importance as well like IITs , IISERs , CMI , NISER etc.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements are quite great. The highest package for M.stat people this year was 39 LPA ,for M.QROR was 63 LPA , for M.Math people was 36 LPA . The average of top 10% from each branch was nearly 80-90 of the highest package offered. All the students get placed whoever opts for placements in olace of higher studies. My plans after degree is to get placed un my dream MNC.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of the course is 102500 per year in which 1 Lakh is Tuition fees and 2500 is other fee. Hence per year cost is 205000. While during counseling process one has to pay 20000 as the seat acceptance deposit to accept the offer which is refundable after completion of first semester. For students belonging to SC/ST categories the tuition fees is completely waived off adn hence they pay around 5000 per year . There is fee waiver available on the basis of parental income . For students having parental income between 1 to 5 lakhs the tuition fees is 66.67% waived off and for students having parental income below 1 lakh 100% tuition fees is waived off.

Campus Life

4.5

INTEGRATION is the annual fest which occurs in late january of each year. It has many extra curricular and academic activities as its components. A maths competition named MTRP is held for school students across the nation.

Admission

I chose ISI over IIT Madras because of the small batch size of ISI. Here people come from different backgrounds, not only from science fields. People here are great at problem solving and keep their passion above any thing else.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty to student ration varied from department to department . The average is around 1:15 which is quite great for student teacher interactions. All the faculties have their own research labs / offices and are approachable during academic hours. I liked Dr. Malay bhattacharyya so much because of his great teaching skills and unique approach to a problem. Each semester consists of at max 5 courses at the undergraduate level and each coyrse has 4-5 exams per semester. Out of them mid semester and end semester do have the most weightage . The academic framework is quite tough and well maintained. Hence studying one night before exams doesn't work here .

Other Applied Colleges

IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITM] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I think I'm a curious student. Integrating biology with technology is interesting Recently we are studying animal tissue culture plant tissue culture which is superb. Generating a plan from a single cell is truly something interesting. I was drawn to genetics and biotechnology application . This curriculum prepares a student for research and industrial purpose . We get to do lab experiments project work under professors. In my opinion improvement can be done by industrial visits Exams take place at the end of each semester and we have mid sems in between

My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course curriculum in terms of relevance as moderately relevant. My decision to choose this course was primarily influenced by its research learning facility and practical based learning. The curriculum helps each individual to prepare for further comepetitive exams and expanding their jobs option with full and profound knowledge of data based works and computer skills. To enhance the course curriculum and teaching methods , I would suggests dedicating deep learning with lots of real life examples, updating the syllabus to recent advancements Providing recorded lectures would be of so much help and providing more opportunities for students to present their work giving them detailed feedback would improve the skills and learning capacity of the students.
