The placements are quite great. The highest package for M.stat people this year was 39 LPA ,for M.QROR was 63 LPA , for M.Math people was 36 LPA . The average of top 10% from each branch was nearly 80-90 of the highest package offered. All the students get placed whoever opts for placements in olace of higher studies. My plans after degree is to get placed un my dream MNC.

Undergraduate students are not allowed for placements. Masters students can sit for placements which starts at the beginning of third semester. Apart from that some students also get PPO after completing there internship at the end of first year of Masters or final year of undergrad. Companies like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMC, Deloitte, Microsoft, Google, Intuit, UBS, Amazon etc.(all the names can be found in the placement brochure published by the institute and available online)According to 2021-2022 placement statistics for M.Stat. course:Highest package: 56 LPAAverage package: 22 LPAMedian package: 19 LPA(Placement statistics for previous years can be found in the placement brochure published by the institute and available online)Every year around 50% of the students completing M.Stat. go for PhD (mostly abroad but some prefer ISI) and remaining 50% go for a job. 100% of those students who go for a job get placed. One of my friends is an alumnus of ISI Kolkata and here is his insight into the placements for MTech CS.

The job profiles offered by ISI are mostly from Data Analytics. You will not get many CS core jobs from the placement drive. Don’t expect companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc.
As an M.Tech(CS) student, you will have a fair knowledge about IR, Pattern Recognition, Data Mining and you can easily get jobs at these visiting companies.
In the recent placement drive, the highest package offered was INR 25 to 28 LPA while the average was INR 10 to 12 LPA.
ISI offers good job opportunities, but it is limited to a particular domain. Along with Data Analytics companies, few R&D centers like TCS Innovation, Infosys R&D, visit the placement drive.

Other than that you can apply for summer internships and if you perform well you will receive PPOs. But if you are expecting a job strictly related to your field after the compilation of your masters then don’t choose ISI. It is an excellent option if you want to do a Ph.D. or want a career in research.

Academics:

If you have a CS background in your under graduation too, then all subjects in the first year will be mostly repetition for you. You can also check the exact list on the ISI website. However, many people with a CS background say that they have learned things in a much-refined way.
In the second year, you finally get to choose subjects based on your interest which will help you in your final thesis.
ISI is quite famous for cryptography but you can also find good thesis projects in prestigious fields like Machine learning, Image processing, Algorithms, VLSI, cognitive science, etc. Also, you get good guidance in all of these.

Placements:

ISI is particularly famous for statistics. So, most companies coming for placements offer Data science profiles. Very few companies would be offering developer job roles. So regarding the placements, it’s the best place to grab data scientist roles with lucrative packages. In the recent placement highlights, the average and highest CTC offered was 19.80 LPA and 42 LPA.
