Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum involves theory papers and practical papers, which cover relevant topics and psychological testing and assessments, respectively. Continuous Assessments (CAs) include a variety of assessments using PPT presentations, report writing, written exams and online MCQ

Placement Experience

3

From the 2nd last semester, that is the final year, students become eligible for campus placements. Last year, two of our seniors got placed at Reborn Child Development Centre (Durgapur and Asansol) with an average package of Rs 200,000. This year, three students of our batch, including me, got an internship for three months at Reborn through an in-person interview.

Fees and Financial Aid

The admission fee for new students was Rs. 50,000, and for home students was Rs. 5000 (in 2023). Students have two options for paying fees: yearly and semester-wise. I opt for the yearly payment. Fee structure for yearly payment: Year 1: Rs 81,300 Year 2: Rs 86,200 Being a new student to NSHM Durgapur, I paid a total course fee of Rs. 2,17,500.

Campus Life

5

On this campus, several sports activities, seminars, workshops, blood donation camps, cultural programmes, and orientation programmes are held throughout the year. The annual fest is conducted for 4 days in the month of February every year.

Admission

I decided to take up Clinical Psychology over Applied Psychology for my Master's. I searched for colleges and Universities near my home town Durgapur. Most of the colleges offer an M.A. or M.Sc. in Applied Psychology. NSHM Durgapur and Kolkata offer M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology. I visited the Durgapur campus and got detailed information about the faculty, curriculum, internship and placement opportunities. This course appealed to me, and I took a direct admission. It was required to submit an application form with a fee of Rs 700, along with necessary documents such as Aadhar card, migration certificate and marksheet of class 10, 12 and graduation.

Faculty

5

Each of the batches in our department has an average of 8-10 students, and the faculty members are 4. Therefore, the faculty-to-student ratio is 1:2. The faculty members are always available for us

Night Life

4

The college campus has a large canteen, food stalls, playgrounds, libraries, a gym and a pond. Hostel facilities are also there for both boys and girls, but I have not availed them. Outside the campus, several stalls and eateries are there, along with medicine shops

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.

Biotechnology is a highly demanding course in today's world. The syllabus for this course is mostly around bookish knowledge and you have to gather outside knowledge on your own. There must be an internship for every student arranged by department itself in various other institues or labs for practical work experience.
