I have friends studying in ISI Kolkata and old IITs. Based on my conversations with them, I will say there is no doubt that M.stat students from ISI have better chances of landing jobs with really lucrative salaries. You will be surprised by the fact that ISI is known for its 100% placement ratio for M.Stat. This is not the case you would be able to find in any IIT whether old or new. Even if you pursue a B.tech degree from IIT Bombay (an old and reputed IIT), the institute never succeeds in maintaining a cent-percent placement record. You can even cross-check the stats from IIT Bombay’s website. Students studying mathematics and computing students from IITs, most of them are more inclined toward research careers than jobs. M.Stat degree from ISI is unique in India. The course is highly reputed and the institute itself is far ahead of most Indian institutes in the field of stats, math, and economics. Fees and Financial Aid:

Tuition fee is 0. A very nominal one-time charge for library, medical facilities is paid during admission. Hostel fees worth Rs. 200 should be paid per month. You have to pay only for what you eat.Every student recieves monthly stipends(Rs. 5000 for bachelors, Rs. 8000 for masters) from the institute. One can even apply for other scholarship like KVPY, INSPIRE, JBNSTS etc instead of accepting the ISI stipend. A yearly contingency grant worth Rs. 5000 for bachelors students and Rs. 8000 for masters students is also provided to the students who take ISI stipend which covers the cost of the books, copy, pens, photocopy and other essential items purchased in an academic year.

We don't have to avail for any scholarship, since every student by himself gets a stipend and in fact, if we apply for any other scholarship, we won't be eligible for that stipend. The only eligibility for stipend is you must maintain a percentage of 60 every sem to continue stipend in next sem.
