Remarks

NIT SILCHAR is one of the technological institutes of national importance established in the year 1950, one of the core learning centre for sciences and technology in north east, gaining spectacular growth in last few years it has secured 10th place out of 31 colleges, having the Asia's largest digital library, your life circle of 7 lives would not be enough to compete all the books, the lush green environment and its location on southern side of kashi hills makes it a magnetic centre for knowledge thus lives. The patron of education and the spice of knowledgeable people from across the country under a 695 acres of land compressing of more than 5000 students is all I can describe my college, words fall short apart. Negative remark as such is its isolation from ROI it takes almost 1½ day to reach West Bengal from Silchar, road connectivity is less and even the climate is unpredictable here the funniest part is I have experienced all 3 seasons in a single day, morning it was raining at afternoon it was sunny and night I was chilled out

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure is designed and planned by some of the best faculty members and gold-medalists from different parts of the country. It covers mostly all the topics required to crack CSIR-UGC NET EXAM (required to do PhD). Furthermore, the exams here are held in 2 parts: MID-SEM of 30 Marks and END-SEM of 50 Marks, and of course, minor tests and assignments comprise 20 Marks. To be true, the exam pattern is very, very hectic as you have to write 5 days 5 papers without any gap for studying. To be honest, if one can't handle pressure, it becomes difficult for survival.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements are good for people of B.tech and M.tech department that is the engineering background but for sciences and management the opportunities are comparatively less. Yes the college has direct contact with few of the companies which makes it easy to gain internship. I have been planning for summer internship not yet finalized based on schedule will confirm it.

College Events

5

The technical event that occurs is TECHNOSIS which is believed to be the biggest techno fest of entire north east. The Cultural fest is INCANDESCENCE it is celebrated as a festival, the 4 day-night fest is the event every student will be waiting for. Posua is another one such remarkable fest. Diwali is celebrated in harmony where all HOSTEL are lighted up and the entire campus looks beautiful.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is government institute the fee structure is feasible and provides all the facilities a student needs from wifi to free access to digital computers from a healthy mess food to bus services to town.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't know currently about this facility but the people who belong to backward classes the college provides them a financial support and gives them an opportunity to make their own learning, people who are doing Ph.D. and M.Tech through GATE get a stipend as their scholarship

Campus Life

5

NIT Silchar provides a good atmosphere for extracurricular activities as it has separate departments for sports, music club, art club, photography club, dramatic club and many such. For boys HOSTEL night cricket and football matches are conducted as a part of Fit India you have to undergo a course of yoga for 6 months

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel infrastructure is another notable thing I should talk when I say about NITS. There are total of 11 boys hostel and 5 girls hostel. Each hostel room has a lan port the hostel have sufficient capacity so that it can accommodate everyone inside the campus, the hostel been been planned properly with each having a canteen plus night canteen in addition with fair price shop, what else a student need? Playground and night ground yes some hostels even have badminton court and mini football ground

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are also friendly they are most helpful during exam times and doubt solving becomes easier due to their guidance. They play a vital role when I have to carry out departmental workshops seminars and functions. Alumni as such have met only one person from our department who had come as a guest lecturer during science day celebration his words inspired us for researches in science.

Admission

I got admission through IIT JAM exam which is conducted once a year for students from UG science background to do their PG in IIT and NIT, once you qualify the exam there will be counseling based on your rank you are allocated the colleges of your preference list. It's not that is easy to crack this exam unless one shows determination.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty members here are best as I already said they are all masters in their subjects some of them are gold medalists and some of them have cleared exams like NBHM, they have the essence of knowledge and the experience of life. Some faculty are so much supportive they keep on motivating you for research and even extra curricular activities

The teachers prepare students well for jobs at different companies and gives marks based on our understanding of the subject. But some of the teachers need to interact more with the students. The internal examination are not well timed and give little time for students to study.

Reviewed on May 15, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason behind choosing this course is my deep interest in research area as our department shows good result in research domain .The curriculum provides us some topics that are to be deeply understood like we are imagining those topics in 3-D way and that will helps us in future aspects. The thing that need to be changed in our curriculum is course pattern itself because it lacks familiarity with CSIR - NET syllabus. The exams are held in the month of June and December and the difficulty level of the exam is from moderate to hard
