AAU Admission Dates 2026

Admissions to the 2026-27 batch at AAU were anchored by the AAU-CET 2026, a university-level entrance test conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. A separate quota of 15% seats across all UG programmes is filled through ICAR AIEEA (All India Entrance Examination for Admission). The 2026-27 admission cycle has concluded.

The ICAR AIEEA quota seats are filled centrally through ICAR counselling. The remaining 85% state quota seats at AAU constituent colleges are filled through AAU-CET merit lists. The table below shows the Course-Wise Exam Accepted at AAU.

AAU Courses and Fees

AAU offers over 120 programmes across its 6 constituent colleges, spanning agriculture, veterinary science, fisheries, community science, horticulture, and sericulture. UG programme fees range from INR 7.76 Lakhs (some BFSc specialisations) to INR 10.41 Lakhs (B.V.Sc and A.H. over 5 years).

Among AAU’s distinctive programme offerings, Tea Husbandry and Technology is a uniquely specialised track available only at a handful of agricultural universities in India, making AAU a national reference point for Assam’s tea industry. The B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture at Jorhat, Biswanath Chariali, and Rangamati offers specialisations across Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Economics, Entomology, and Environmental Science.

AAU Admission Process

AAU admission follows a state-level merit process driven by the AAU-CET score. B.V.Sc and A.H. Admission

• Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, minimum 50% aggregate
• Exams accepted: AAU-CET Veterinary or ICAR AIEEA UG
• Process: State Veterinary Council-compliant counselling and document verification

BFSc Admission

• Eligibility: 10+2 with PCB or PCM, minimum 50% aggregate

Postgraduate Admission (M.Sc / M.V.Sc / M.F.Sc)

Ph.D Admission

Ph.D admissions at AAU require a PG degree in the relevant discipline with minimum 55% marks. Candidates must clear the AAU Research Entrance Test or hold a valid ICAR JRF/SRF. Ph.D tenure at AAU is 3 to 4 years, with fees of INR 7.18 Lakhs for a 3-year programme.

AAU Placements and Career Outcomes

As a state agricultural university, AAU does not conduct conventional corporate campus placements. AAU graduates primarily enter government services and agricultural research, with a smaller proportion joining private agribusiness. AAU Campus and Infrastructure

The AAU main campus is located at Borbheta, Jorhat, Assam, in the upper Brahmaputra valley, 300 km east of Guwahati. The Jorhat campus houses the College of Agriculture, College of Community Science, central administrative offices, and the main research farm. Jorhat district is a major hub for Assam’s tea industry, giving the campus setting an applied research advantage in tea agronomy.

Across its 6 constituent colleges, AAU maintains dedicated farms, research plots, laboratories, and libraries suited to each discipline. The College of Sericulture at Titabor has mulberry gardens and rearing houses. The College of Horticulture at Nalbari has orchards, nurseries, and greenhouse facilities. Hostel accommodation is available at each constituent college campus with fees up to INR 24,800 per year for both male and female students.
