A glimpse of IIT Guwahati

I choose this course because there are very less courses through which MSc students can get good placements and this is one of them or I can say best in all of them. It consists of subject from both mathematics as well as computing which is in demand in today's corporate world.A little improvement which can be done in this course is that no. Of computing subject can be increased. Also there are two exams and min two quizes for every subject per semester with a good level of difficulty as you expect from an iit but the good thing is most of the proofs have criteria of relative marking. But frankly speaking no. Of exams difficulty level these all things depends on professor.

In our course we get good internship opportunities. Big companies such as Amazon come here for hiring internship and the there are different roles offered for the internships such as software development, data science etc. Also you can do projects under professors which will help you a lot in your placements.

The on campus placement of this course are good with an average package of 13.6 lakhs. There are various roles in which you can get placed that is software development, data science, teaching etc. around 70% of students get placed. Many good companies such as Google Microsoft Amazon etc. comes here for recruitment

The total tutionfee for this course is 1.10 lakhs and total hostel fee is 1.13 lakhs also there is some one time payment which you have to pay only once during admission which is something around 10000. Yes there are some scholarship available here such as MCM which you can avail. There is no stipend for MSc mathematics and computing students.

The sports facilities in the campus are marvelous I think for every sports facilities are available. There is a central gym and gym in every hostel and other gyms also. Dedicated courts and grounds for other sports. And the social life of campus is very happening almost every time there is some event going on. Each year there are two major fest one is the cultural fest named alcheringa which is the biggest cultural fest of northeast and other is a technical fest name techniche. There are a lots of clubs such as music, dance, literary club, social service club , photography club , astronomy club etc.

The hostel facilities of this campus is like good accommodation in affordable price the total hostel fee is only 1.13 lakh for us and each hostel have TV rooms , sports room , music room , study room, gym, stationery, canteen, juice centre , and there are also interested hostel championships called GC inwhich the hostels competes in sports, cultural and technical activities.

For admission in this course you have to clear IIT JAM exam and secure a good rank under 100 of you are a general candidate. You can easily find the application details on Google. There are reservation benifits to avail which you can check on the website. The exam takes place only once in year in month of February mostly and the difficulty level varies year by year as each year a different college makes the paper.

The faculties here are very much supportive you can anytime ask your doubts to them in class and you can also approach them through mail and ask them for extra time in there chamber. My department (mathematics) have very good and supportive faculties and the faculty to students ratio is good here.
