What Students Say

Likes

The most thing I liked about this institution is its faculty members. They are very friendly with the students and also helps the students whenever it goes s possible .
The second thing I liked was the alumni network which is spread all over the state.
It has a huge and lush green campus with many kinds of trees

Dislikes

Things I disliked is the late response by the authorities.
No response in certificate issuance works
Officials behave aggressively towards students.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum sets the foundation and also the base of the topic which inspired me to enroll in this course. Though the curriculum could be improved by implementation of guest lectures, Workshops, Webinars, etc.

Class Size: 30Course Fees: INR 33000 per year

Placement Experience

In Msc courses, there are no placements offered by the institute. However the institute of technology offers placements for btech and mtech students. The highest package this year was 12LPA and the average package was 8 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fees I pay is Rs 33000. This is the tution fee and there are also extra charges for exam fee, hostel fee, mess fee, etc. Unfortunately there's no scholarship for this course and it is a self financed course.

Campus Life

I am absolutely enjoyingy campus life. The university holds a huge number of events and technical festivals like hackdays. It has a very big library with a unlimited access of books and manuscripts. The sports culture is also very mesmerizing. There are organization like NSS in the university for social works and welfare.

Admission

Since I was interested in electronics coure for my PG and also was searching for an institute which was closer to my location so I closed this university. It is the only university in Assam that offers the Msc in electronics course

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is 1:45.The faculty is very friendly with the students and are very helpful. My favourite professor is Prof. M.P. Bora from the department of physics. He is an absolute genius and is an inspiration for me to achieve my goals. The university conducts 4 exams in a year.

Night Life

My favourite hangout spot is the botanical garden which has a treking point. There are many cafes and restaurants in the institute for hangouts and refreshments. Students can hangout till nights as it is a very safe place for students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The geography department at the university is good. The department is small, with a maximum of 30-40 students in each class. This helps in good interaction with the teachers and avoids congestion. The teachers are good and very cooperative. They help the students in every way, be it academic or extra-curricular activities. The department takes part in university activities actively. The teachers also help and are actively involved. All the teachers in the department have PhDs. Teachers use theory as well as practical knowledge to teach the subject. Computers, smart phones, and journals are also used by them. They clear every doubt of the students and also, if necessary, they teach topics beyond the syllabus for future help. The exams are conducted on time. And the question pattern is challenging for the students.

Remarks:

NIT SILCHAR is one of the technological institutes of national importance established in the year 1950, one of the core learning centre for sciences and technology in north east, gaining spectacular growth in last few years it has secured 10th place out of 31 colleges, having the Asia's largest digital library, your life circle of 7 lives would not be enough to compete all the books, the lush green environment and its location on southern side of kashi hills makes it a magnetic centre for knowledge thus lives. The patron of education and the spice of knowledgeable people from across the country under a 695 acres of land compressing of more than 5000 students is all I can describe my college, words fall short apart. Negative remark as such is its isolation from ROI it takes almost 1½ day to reach West Bengal from Silchar, road connectivity is less and even the climate is unpredictable here the funniest part is I have experienced all 3 seasons in a single day, morning it was raining at afternoon it was sunny and night I was chilled out

My academic experience at University Law College, Gauhati University

Before enrolling myself in ULC, GU it tried to get in to Facuty of Law, Delhi University but because of lack of preparation time as I decided to get myself into studying law very late, I could't clear that particular exam and then to seek for other options I found ULC which has a very rich history of a great alumni base including esteemed Jurists and Lawyers around the country. The admission process includes an examination of 100 marks coducted by Gauhati University which tests students knowledge in various aspects including General Knowlege, English, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning. The cut off for general category students ranges from around 20 to 30 based on the result of other students. I got through this exam scoring 56 with a rank of 5.
