Handique Girls College Guwahati has announced PG Fee Structure 2025-2026. The total academic fee is ₹ 60,000 -₹ 1.12 Lakhs.

Handique Girls College, also known as HGC, was established in 1939. It is accredited by NAAC with Grade ‘B’. HGC is also recognised by UGC, & It offers UG, PG, and Self-Financed Certificate Programs in the respective Disciplines of Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, etc.

HGC Admission Process

HGC offers admissions to UG and PG programs to all the eligible candidates. HGC admissions for the UG Courses are mostly done based on Merit as mentioned below.

Visit https://assamadmission.samarth.ac.in/index.php & Login using your "Registration Number or Email" and "Password".
After Login, carefully read the instructions and click on Accept.
The "Pay Admission Fee" link will get activated. After due processing, Candidates need to click on the link and complete the Payment of the Fee to confirm their Admission.
Verify the Details and click on the Payment Gateway Link to visit the Payment Gateway page.
Complete the Payment & the Admission Status will change to "Admission Granted"
Details will be displayed on your computer screen after admission is granted.

HGC PG Admission Process 2025

The College offers Post Graduate Courses (self-financed) under Guwahati University. Any student who has completed a B.A/B.Sc. course with Honours in a particular subject is eligible to apply for admission into the PG course in that subject. The duration of the course is two years (spread over four successive semesters). The Admission Process for PG Courses is mentioned below.

Candidates can visit Guwahati University’s official website & log in with their Registered account. Details for The Common Entrance Test for admission into the Post Graduate courses (conducted by Guwahati University) will be displayed on the website itself.

Ques. What are NCC and NSS for students at HGC?

Ans. The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has been established with an aim to instil discipline, leadership skills, a sense of responsibility & develop students´ personalities and character through community service among the students of HGC. The primary objectives of introducing NCC are mentioned below.

i) promote a spirit of adventure and camaraderie among students,

ii) encourage physical fitness and teamwork.

Iii) Develop leadership qualities and a sense of national pride.

At HGC, the National Service Scheme (NSS) is a voluntary program that provides opportunities for young students to engage in community service. NSS aims to develop students´ personalities and character through community service.

Ques. How does HGC evaluate and assess students’ performances?

Ans. Continuous assessment of the student is done by the department through regular tests, seminars, projects and assignments in HGC. The marks secured by the students in these assessments are taken into consideration at the time of sending up the students for the final examination. The Examination Committee decision in this regard is final and binding. Job training, projects, study tours and field work are essential requirements of a number of degree programmes. The Guwahati University has introduced the Internal Assessment of students of TDC (Three-Year Degree Course) classes. Under this system, for each paper of 100 marks, the University will examine 80 marks, and the remaining 20 marks will be allocated by the College on the basis of Internal Assessment.

Things you need to know

Likes

The college is a reputed one so it will be benefited later on
The professors of our department are very helpful. We can reach them for help whenever needed. Also they support us for doing internship, workshop, etc.
It is located in a good place. We can easily get transport, and there are also shops nearby where we get almost everything needed for study.

Dislikes

The campus is very small. Since it is a govt. college the govt. should look after it as it is a great and reputed college which is doing good.
The college authority most of the time don't focus on important things and focuses on useless things more.
The laboratories don't have enough apparatus and equipments. Also the labs are not well maintained.

Students view on course curriculum

It is relevant. Life science is interesting to study. It is interesting so I had chosen it. After studying this we can apply for masters or if we do this degree for 4 years according to NEP we will be able to apply for PhD without doing masters.

Internship opportunities provided by the college

There are internship opportunities. But for that you need to talk to your dept. for arranging it. Or sometimes they themselves gives it. But you need to be active and collect information by yourself sometimes otherwise you might not get the information about it

Fees of the course per semester

We need to take admission per semester which is twice a year (app. 5000 per sem) and every sem we need to pay exam fees which is app. 1600 which includes practical fees. Students not having any practical need to pay less. Also we can apply for fee waiver during admission for we there are some criteria which need to be fulfilled.

Clubs and facilities available in the campus

The infrastructure is not at all good. The buildings are not in a good condition. Also there is no campus. The government should really look after it. They should provide space for the college. There are various clubs in college so you can join which you like. But there are so much place to practice sports and also there are no coach for training. The students practice by themselves. They are very good in it so they must be given training.

Students view on faculties

Most of the teachers are very supportive. The teachers of Botany dept. are good. All the teachers always help us whenever we go to them for any kind of help. But there are few teachers who are not much supportive. Per semester we need to give 2 sessional exams and one end semester exam.

How to get admission in the college and what sets the college stand out ?

I chose this college as it has a good reputation. And we always get to hear about the name of this college whenever there is some talk about the best colleges of Assam. For admission first we need to apply online in samarth portal after that in college official website. They give 3 merit list and if there is our name in the list we need to come to college for admission. Also for the spots that left vacant there is a spot admission process later on.

Night Life

There is no campus life or nightlife if you study in this college. There is no place at all to hangout. The college is situated in a nice place so you can go out to hangout but inside college campus you might not get a place to even sit

All you have to know about Handique Girls' college

Admission:

I applied to cotton University and also DU.. I didn get in cotton ...but i got in DU with sociology..since i wanted to go for psychology, I didnt go to DU. I didn't make it to Cotton because of cut off marks. Getting into psychology is really tough especially in this generation where people are more aware about mental health. The cut off was really high 96 % in cotton and Idk about DU it varies from clg to clg. The admission process in Handique girls' college is okayish. Runs smoothly. You just need to have necessary documents and also can ask the staff for any queries or doubts. For Handique the cut off is average. If you score above 90% you'll definitely get admission in psychology. Bu then again the cut off varies every year. This year political science cut off was very high in every college. So even with 80% getting into Pol sc in Handique was not possible.

Actually the college is so far from my home
We almost God every safety under the college with outside the college I think lack of safety I got

Admission:

I choose very much college for my BSC honours but I choose these because this is the second most popular college in Assam and I don't have that for choosing days all the exam eligibility everything is just perfect for this college

There are all girls in my college so I am not shy about anything

Admission:

I had applied to more than 3 colleges but I did not know if I would get admission here and I got a good college. I never even thought in my dreams that I would get this because this is the best women's college in Guwahat.This is the second popular college in pure assam.
