The JoSAA 2025 has released the official schedule of JEE Advanced Counselling 2025. The JEE Advanced counselling process will be held in 6 rounds, including registration and choice filling after the declaration of JEE Advanced Results on June 2, 2025. JoSAA Counselling Process of JEE Advanced includes registration, choice filling, mock allotment, final locking, seat allotment, seat acceptance by candidates and institute reporting.

JoSAA 2025 Round 6 Seat Allotment Result out on July 16, 2025. Shortlisted candidates must report online, pay the seat acceptance fee, and upload documents by July 21, 2025. 

JoSAA 6th Round of seat allocation is for both IITs (Last round for IITs) and NIT+ system.

More than 1.95 lakh candidates appeared for JEE Advanced 2025, for around 17,380 seats in the IITs.

  • Through JoSAA, candidates can take part in the Joint Seat Allotment process for 107 top engineering colleges, including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 28 other GFTIs, where admission will be based on JEE Advanced and JEE Main Ranks, depending upon the preferred institute

For JEE Advanced Counselling, JoSAA follows the reservation policy implemented by the Government of India, including 15% seats for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC-NCL, 10% for EWS and 5% for horizontal reservation for PwS candidates.

The JEE Advanced counselling will be conducted completely online at the official website of JoSAA josaa.nic.in, which also includes the verification of Documents and Fees submission.

In JEE Advanced 2024, around 1.80 lakh candidates appeared for the exam and around 17,300 seats in II1 were allotted by JoSAA in 6 rounds.

JEE Advanced Counselling 2025 Schedule

The JoSAA will conduct JEE Advanced Counselling 2025 in 6 rounds, which started from 3rd June,2025, in an entirely online process. The candidates qualifying in JEE Advanced must register and fill their choices on the JoSAA Portal as per the official schedule.

When to apply for JoSAA counselling 2025?

The Candidates can apply for JoSAA Counselling 2025, which will start from 3rd June 2025, on the official website josaa.nic.in. The Candidates have to register, fill in their choices, and lock their preferences, which is important for getting admission into the top IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.

JEE Advanced Counselling 2025 Eligibility Criteria

For participating in JEE Advanced Counselling 2025, candidates have to meet certain eligibility criteria. As it will be based on JEE Advanced 2025 performance, the category of the candidate and the academic background.

Candidates who will qualify in the JEE Advanced Exam and meet all these conditions will be considered for seat allocation in IITs.

Who will organise JEE Advanced 2025?

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is the organising institute for JEE Advanced 2025. It looks after the entire examination process, including question papers, response sheets, provisional and final answer keys and the result announcement.

The JEE Advanced exam was conducted on May 18, 2025, and the results are expected to be released on 2nd June, 2025.

JEE Advanced Counselling Seat Allotment 2025

The JoSAA is conducting JEE Advanced 2025 in 5 rounds, and one special final round for the IIT and NIT institutes. The Seat Allotment will be based on the candidate's Rank in JEE Advanced, seat availability, and their preferences during the registration process.

How many rounds of counselling are there in JEE Advanced?

The JoSAA Will conduct the JEE Advanced Counselling 2025 in 6 rounds, to get seats in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. It will be based on JEE Advanced ranks, category and choice filing during the registration process.

Round 1 The Initial Seat Allotment will depend upon the JEE Advanced Rank, category and choices filled.
Round 2 Seats will be updated in this round if there are available seats and candidates can then retain, float or slide their seat.
Round 3 Then the further allotment and upgrades can be done by candidates, can accept the seat or choose to withdraw.

The JEE Advanced Marks vs Rank 2025 will help candidates to estimate their overall AIR based on the exam score.

As the exam is very competitive and the pattern of scores varies every year for JoSAA Counselling and seat preference.

  • With a score of more than 300, candidates can get into the top 100 rank in JEE Advanced.
  • Candidates who will score above 150 marks will secure ranks under 3,500 in the top branches in the new IITs.
  • Rank can increase with a drop of 10-15 marks in the middle ranks.
  • In 2024, the qualifying cutoff for the general category was 86 marks out of 360.
