Faculty

The faculty in the college is really good , specially in the CS dept and the ECE dept, regular experiments are carried out in the lab classes , except for the programming one. The faculty to student ratio is pretty good Our college has some of the highly respected ntellectual faculties like Ms Anuradha Tomar(ICE dept), and even more you can simply go and check out the website. The faculties I didn't like was my English faculty ,MsTanushree. She never listened to any of the students demands , like if they were late even by 5 minutes , they were absent for her. Also she used to point out and make fun of most of the students in the class. Also Mr Harshmani Yadav (ECE dept), his pet dialogue is SABKO FAIL KAR DUNGA, he doesn't give marks for the correct ques and says he is ants to set an average by himself by failing this much amount of students. That's really bad . Mr Dashrath Kushwaha (CS Dept) , hee never takes classes , makes the attendance short, and then asks the students to ask their parents to call him to give him the reason behind their absence. Also he gives marks on the basis of presentation only and your class behaviour. Talking about the exams , I had 5 subjects in semester 1 and 6 in semester 2, the first semester (in ICE) is pretty easy , just require some practice in basics of mechanical , while the second was like a horror movie, EDC and ECA, you can definitely score good if you do good practice. Talking about the exam level, this year's paper were more tough than the previous years, but if you have prepared well, it's no issue for you. I had SGPA of 9.0 is sem 1 and 8.83 in sem 2 The course is not most likely related to the present world sceneioes but gives you a glimpse of every branch in the first year only. I a first year student so don't know much about it.

Campus Life

Well the campus can never get you bored. There are so many facilities in the campus itself. For sports , he have a newly built synthetic running track, a dedicated cricket and football ground , 2 basketball courts , 2 volleyball courts , indoor facility of badminton court and table tennis as well. Even the college has a well maintained gym which can be used by the famous students. There are almost 20+ societies or clubs that one can be a part of. Most of them are highly active and regularly participate and organise events in the famous and even in different colleges and universities. Some of them are as JUNOON- the photography soc, MIRAGE- the dance soc, BEBSOCC- the debating soc, ARIES- the robotics soc, ENACTUS, NSS,NCC and many more. Talking about the cultural fests , we have two, one is RESONANZ. It is sort of small fest which is 2 day long, there are many activities which are being organised by the sponsors and the soc in which there are many prizes too. The main fest is MOKSHA, I bet you have heard about it. It is the biggest cultural fest of north India. It is a 3 day long fest. This year in 2025, we had a footfall of around 3lakh students from different colleges. It is all of a different vibe, you will surely love it. This year we had Salim suleman, darshan raval and sunburn DJ as our lineup. This makes it so special. You may even take part in organising the events as it may help you in getting better non tech placements like becoming a coordinator of the event or even the POC.

Fees and Financial Aid

Since it's been an year I've enrolled into the university, I can tell about the fee structure on the basis of my experience until now. Initially after orientation and induction, we pay the fee year wise. The first year fee was around 2.7 lakhs, and it increases by a small factor each successive year. A total of 11.5-12lakhs would be spent on the degree.

Campus Life

There are various student run clubs and societies in which you can get enrolled on the basis of your accumen, network with minds with experience in whatever field you like, you'll always find someone pursuing something that you aspire to be. You can find brilliant mentorships , you just have to know what you want.

There are a lot of clubs in nit tiruchurappalli from tech clubs to social clubs, though you have to complete their induction process so as to get into it. Sports and extracurricular activities are also present if you want to be a part of contigent teams , again you have to give trials when the time comes

Placement Experience

College placements are very good , we even have internships opportunities both under the professors as research intern as well as through their referral . We have rigourous exams (OT) for various companies through which we sit for their internship and placement

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee for my B.Tech program at NSUT increases slightly each year. In the first year, I paid around ?2.4 lakhs, which went up to ?2.5 lakhs in the second year, ?2.7 lakhs in the third year, and ?2.9 lakhs in the fourth year. The total cost of the entire course comes to about ?10.5 lakhs, with an annual fee hike of approximately 4-5%. Luckily, NSUT offers some helpful scholarship options. There are merit-based scholarships for the top 5% of students in each program every year, covering the tuition fee if we pass all subjects on the first attempt. Plus, there’s financial aid for students from SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories, along with the Chhatra Vittiya Sahayta Evam Protsahan Kosh (CVSPK) scheme, which provides extra support through a simple application process.

Campus Life

Overall exyof college is great as it has a beautiful campus and great peers, but it don't have good badminton court which is a downpoint of this college. Their are some clubs also in college which helps us to grow both mentally and spiritually.

Faculty

There's no such faculty student ratio if a student has doubt regarding respective subjects we can meet that respective professors. Some professors are likely approachable and some don't. Personally I like meera ma'am who teaches Advance Control system and chaskar sir who teaches Digital electronics. The reason why I like them is because they are full of energy, their energy is very welcoming and contagious and they make each and every student feel comfortable about themselves. There's one professor patil sir it's not like I don't like him but it's just he is not so into his lecture. Soo basically in whole year there are 4 exams in total (theory) , in year there are 2 sem , each sem has 1 mid sem of 30 marks and 1 end sem of 60 marks rest 10 marks are TA teachers assessment. Exams can be easy as well difficult depending upon the subject and faculty. Invigilation is quite taken seriously here. For students who fail there's one reexam conducted.

Campus Life

Overall experience is cool and fun also very knowledgable . by the time you will understand if you don't initiate or speak up you won't be able to enjoy the journey as the competition is large. there are alot of technical as well as non technical club in coep . Technical club named robotics club , drone club , space and research club also psf pune startup fest. And nontechnical clubs are political club , cultural club . Also every year events such as IMPRESSION , ZEST, GATHERING has their own club which are quite fun if you are part of it my roomate is in impression and as per her its the best club to be in as IMPRESSSION is a international event that takes place in coep.ZEST is a clun for indoor and outdoor sports. Also COEP has its own big library open all the time for students and also book bank .

Course Curriculum Overview

Overall curriculum is fairly easy and doable. But as in every college you have to study by yourself but thankfully you will get content to study from YouTube . Pro tip : exam will not be like you will study one night and pass the exam . You need good knowledge over concept so you need to start studying atleast 15 day before.

Placement Experience

In your 7 semester you are eligible for campus placement . Highest can be upto 20-30 lpa and the average package is upto 10-15 lpa Instrumentation and control engineering is the only brand in coep which get 100% placement because number of students is low and their are many industries that requires instrumentation engineer

The major festivals of Northern India and Southern India are celebrated with great enthusiasm. Besides cultural festival, fests named Utkansh and TechNiti are larger platform fests. These are of high budget , i remember last time renowned Punjabi singer Akhil was invited. Besides fest , talking about library there are two major buildings. First one has large book collection, in which book and journal of almost every subject you can rent for free. And the other building of library is for studying. Student can visit anytime to study there away from any kind of distraction. Wifi and PC are Provided there for studies. Within classroom, ACs , projector, smart boards etc are available , these help in better understanding of topic. Sports fest are also organised very frequently. Clubs like Aarogya , Bhangra , Deja Vu , IIC , Daksh , etc are the major ones which are active all over the year.

Placement Experience

The placement of my college are quite good. My branch has average package of 9.6 lakhs and the highest package of 22 lakhs per annum while in higher branches highest package was 1.5 crore per annum and average was about 15 lakhs. Placement percentage is quite good. alumni network is large as well as helpful for securing placements.in CSE BRANCH approx 96 percent students who are eligible for placement process are placed. Besides in my branch 88% Students are placed successfully. Companies like reliance, Flipkart, Amazon, Google , Microsoft, cisco, samsung, etc visit every years for placements. And my plan after completing the degree is to secure a placement. I will aslo try GATE EXAM. I don't have plan for higher studies.

Fees structure for both general and OBC candidate is same. Family income less than 1LPA : Rs. 25500 per semester Family income between 1LPA and 5LPA : Rs. 43360 per semester Family income greater than 5LPA : Rs. 88000 per semester This fee is structure is for all bachelor courses. SC/ST student fees is less than general and OBC students. College does not have a scholarship of it's own. But you can apply for scholarships from other organisations and government, college will provide the supporitng documents if needed for the scholarship. Like there was a scholarship for SC/ST girls from bathinda, the college provided the information to the students themselves, you can see it in the student section on the official college website.

Faculty

The faculty is very strict, the papers are very hard and and marking is very strict. There is exist a 75 percent attendance criteria but there is some relaxation every semester. The faculty to student ratio for overall college is between 75 and 85. Branches like have Computer science have low ratio whereas branches like have biotechnology have high ratio. You need to prepare for GATE level questions for numericals. Every semester almost 5percent student fail some subject. The syllabus is a bit outdated but is upto industry standard. You can also opt for other branch courses in fifth, sixth, and seventh semester. Overall the diffculty is very high in all circuital branches.

There are usually 3 major fests taking place in NSUT i.e RESONANZ- this is a 2 day fest exclusively for NSUT college students organised just after mid sems for students to socialize. INNOVISION- this is a tech fest which takes place during the end of every year. MOKSHA- This is the main fest of NSUT which is a 3 day fest where people from different colleges arrive to experience this amazing event, where multiple bollywood stars, singers visit the campus to perform. The library facility I would say is not that well organised when compared to any other decent IITs NITs or even DTU, this I would say is needed to develop more in the college. You'll find amazing facilities in lecture halls for 1st year but for 2nd year if you are not a CSE student then sadly you have to bear lectures without an Air conditioned classrooms. Sports facility is also something which needs to be upgraded more, there's a running track recently developed, other than that youll have cricket ground not maintained, table tennis room well maintained and many other sports facilities but not of world class. There are nearly 45 societies in the campus which covers a wide range of interests from coding to debating to acting to startups. You'll definitely find most of your time indulged in soc activities and events.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for any program for a general category student at NSUT in B.Tech for the first year is 2.5lakh which gets increased by 5-10% every subsequent years. 2.5lc. constitutes of tution fee of 77k, admission fees of 35k, development fee of 10k, caution fees is around 25k and the rest component constitutes under infrastructure fees(including sports, society, lab, etc.) Fees for OBC and EWS category is approximately around 7-8lakhs, and for SC and ST category it's about 4-5 lakhs majorly the tuition fees rest is waived but this is usually after availing the scholarships. Plenty of Scholarship are available for category students. The prominent ones are:- MCM:- for students with family income less then 3.5lc. and SC,ST,OBC category. CVSPK:- it has various sections of availing scholarships like people with family income less than 2.5lc. gets 80%tution fee waiver, less than 4lc gets 40%tution fee waiver and soo on. There's also a scheme for merit based students that if you are among top 3-5 students in you batch then your 100% tution fee will be waived which is little difficult but possible. There plenty of Scholarships available it's just you have to be aware and apply on time.

Faculty

Faculties most of them are extremely cooperative and well versed except few of them as they show no cooperation and are very strict. There are faculties also who show favourism that's a matter of concern. There are 2 exams per semester mid term of 30 marks end sem of 60 marks and 10 marks are completely given by professor based on various factors such as tests, presentation etc

All courses are relevant as said by our seniors(in terms of placement and gate exam). Some online courses would help in understanding better. Frequency of exams would be one in every 40 days and not so difficult if one starts studies 2 days prior to the exam

Ques. Which is better, EE at DTU or ICE at NSIT?

● Top Answer By Tithi Aggrawal on 04 Jul 23

Ans. There is no better branch between EE at DTU and ICE at NSIT. It's all about preferences and inclinations. To help you make an informed decision let's talk about both the branches individually EE at DTU EE at DTU is core electrical engineering wherein you are taught concepts related to power, grids, electrical machines, etc.  For placements, core companies like BHEL and companies in the energy field visit the campus.  ICE at NSIT This branch has Control Engineering concepts along with electrical, electronics, and computer engineering.ICE has very light coursework and it's easy to maintain a good CGPA.  You also get enough time for your passions and extracurriculars. IT giants like Facebook, Google, etc. Don't allow ICE students to sit for placements.  Core companies that recruit students of this branch include Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and others.  Non-tech companies like BCG, Bain, and JPMC allow all students to sit for placements. NSIT has a larger batch size and thus the competition here is less than DTU for placements but it still it cannot match the brand value of DTU. In all, both DTU and NSIT have similar opportunities and placements so with the right mindset you can do well at both colleges. Read more

Ques. How is ICE at NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Raya Das on 24 Mar 21

Ans. My brother is a recent graduate of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at NIT Trichy, so let me share some facts about its overall performance.  There are some pros and cons of the department which include: Pros: Vibration control research in ICE at Nit Trichy is really good. Robotics, Control, and Electronics are also good for pursuing your graduate studies. Career/ Job aspects across a variety of profiles are accessible for ICE graduates in campus placements. Seniors help a lot with academics. You will be trained to work under pressure. Classrooms are neat and have a great environment. No uniform is required for entering the labs. Categories ICE at NIT Trichy Course Fee 5.65 lakh Placement Percentage 80-90% Highest CTC 20 LPA Average CTC 12 LPA Recruiting Companies Tech Mahindra, TCS, Texas Instruments, JP Morgan, etc. Cons: There are only 11 faculties in the department out of which only two faculties teach properly.  Labs are not up-to-the-mark. Most of the electronics components don’t work properly. The guidance is inadequate. Assignments provide little help. Due to continuous fests in the college, it might be difficult to concentrate on your studies. Like every college, there should be 4 classes per week, but here in ICE, the faculty members tend to keep 6-8 classes per week with students attending the classes just for the attendance. Subjects like PDD, Engineering Mechanics, and Analytical Instrumentation are taken for granted.  If you are really interested in Instrumentation, only then you should join this department. Otherwise, join some other branch in NIT T so that you are able to learn something.Read more

Ans. For understanding the several factors relevant to the institute, you should know both the advantages and disadvantages that are in favor of you. Thus, here is a detailed breakdown of every aspect you should know about NIT Trichy.  Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE) at NIT Trichy -  The placement ratio of the branch is really high.  Students can have multiple opportunities in both circuital and non-circuital engineering fields.  The faculty of NIT Trichy is extremely cooperative and helpful for students pursuing their higher education. Moreover, there is a lesser number of credits, unlike many other departments, helping students have free time. Thus, it can lead students to pursue their hobbies, alongside education. Most essentially, it escalates students to acquire a good rank in GATE, leading them to secure positions in top PSUs.  Besides, it inculcates advanced interdisciplinary engineering, making it convenient for students to secure positions at top foreign universities.  Categories ICE at NIT Trichy Course Fee 6.65 lakhs Highest CTC 28 LPA Average CTC 12-16 LPA Recruiting Companies Qualcomm, Morgan Stanely, Accenture, Flipkart, etc. The major disadvantage to talk about is, It can degrade your performance if you lag behind, during study hours. Ques. Which would be better to take from NIT Trichy: instrumentation and control or production?

● Top Answer By Anirban Biswas on 04 Sept 21

Ans. I know a little bit about ISI Kolkata since I have a few friends from the institute. Here is what you should know about the internships between semesters.  The course curriculum specifies that in the summer after completing your first year of M.Tech, you have to do an internship either in the industry or academia. You will have 3 options.  Industry: Many companies that visit the Campus for placements of 2nd-year students also select interns for the same. Some of such companies are Samsung Research Labs, Google, General Electric, Reliance, Flipkart, De Shaw, JP Morgan Chase, etc. The average stipend offered last year was 65,000 rupees/month. Some companies offer more than 1 lakh/month. One of my friends interned at Samsung Research Labs. Academia: As per ISI guidelines, you need to pursue an internship at a different academic Institute or industry. A friend of mine went to NUS Singapore, while two others went to a university in Germany. You can also apply to other institutes in Japan, USA, and Europe. People also go to IITs, CMI, and other Tier-1 Institutes of India. Within ISI: If for some reason you could not get an internship in the above-mentioned ways, you can approach any of the 250+ faculty members across all 5 ISI‘s and can ask to work with them in their labs. You will have internships at the end of the first year. In the second year, you will have placements, dissertation, academics. So, the only time left to do an additional internship is the winter break after the first sem. Unless you are extremely enthusiastic, I will suggest that you take a break during this period. Because after the break you will be swamped with coursework for 1.5 years.Read more

Ques. Is the instrumentation and control engineering course at NIT Trichy tough?

● Top Answer By Rajiv Shankar on 31 Aug 21

Ans. The answer would be Yes. One of my friends had completed B.Tech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from NIT Trichy. The course is definitely tough but the level of difficulty perceived may differ from person to person. And here is some of the information about the course. Sheer multi-disciplinary nature of subjects : In the very same semester, the candidate will have to study a varied range of subjects such as Fluid mechanics, Material sciences and Circuit theory.  All of these subjects require a good knowledge about modeling in different areas of Physics as it is one of the most essential skills of an Instrument designer. Involvement in Laboratory activities : Practical knowledge is very important.  Most of the lab exercises are worked in a team.  Thus to complete any task starting from designing, experiment and analysis within a particular given time is a bit of a challenge.  It is important for all the team members to work efficiently for the task to be completed. Programming and Analytical skills :  It is important to have a good hold on C/C++ programming to understand subjects such as Data structures/Algo, Embedded systems, Control systems design. Product design and Development : The candidate needs to come with new project ideas and develop it from scratch and make it an Industrial prototype.  This will require a lot of outdoor work, market surveys, meeting suppliers and customer feedback.  Teamwork is very important for such activities. Design specification : Right from the lab exercises, most of the projects and products the candidate needs to work on have a clear Design Specification.  It is important to adhere to those specifications as it demands sincere and laborious efforts from the candidate which might be tough.  The faculty or project guide may also make things tougher. These were some of the aspects that make Instrumentation and Control Engineering tough. The course is pretty involved and demanding. Though all these mentioned aspects and skills are required to be a successful Instrumentation engineer.Read more

Ques. Which one is better - Thapar University (EIC) or JIIT Noida (CSE)?

● Top Answer By Saloni Mohan on 07 Aug 21

Ans. Thapar University in all aspects is a lot better than JIIT. But I am not quite aware of the EIC branch. You can interact with ex-students of the institute online, to get a better idea about the course. If you think it will be a better choice, go for it. According to placements, Thapar is much better than JIIT Noida. Most of the companies that participate in Thapar’s placement program are well reputed like Microsoft, Infosys, and many more. Thapar provides a better industrial exposure to their students. After graduating from Thapar you can opt for both government and private sectors.
