Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is fine! Like faculty is very attentive. They never ignores the doubt of any student! That thing makes this college one of the best! Personally I like Mr Rahul Kumar from Department of Geography a lot! You can see the effort he puts to deliver the best classes by visualising each and every small concept!

Placement Experience

See in my course, students are not that much focused on placement! They are more focused on things like upsc, govt jobs, academics, professors, further MBA! So I do not know about the placement culture! But for someone who wants placement in GIS field there is a placement cell for geography department as well!

We have our annual fest known as Ullas, which happens every year during the month of February or March. There are wide range of books, journals and novels available in our library and every student as access to it. Recently, we were also introduced to DU e-library facilities. The classrooms are all equipped with projectors making it easier for us to understand from the slides presented. Every Wednesday during ECA period, the department of Physical Education organises various sports activities allowing all the students to participate in it and there are many students run societies which we can be a part of as they recruit members once or twice in a year and we can certificates for being a part of it

Course Curriculum Overview

I really like Human Geography which let me to opt for this paper. Besides theory papers, we also have practical papers every semester through which we conduct surveys, interviews, research which helps us in preparing for the real world applications as well as further academic pursuits if we want to go in the field of Remote sensing or GIS. I feel that for papers including research or management, we should be showcasing how we can mitigate them or adapt in such scenarios and also make drafts for writing a research for further pursuits. However, as the time is limited it is quite understandable as to why its not conducted. We have two exams in a year and they are quite relevant and easy

Fees and Financial Aid

So the total fees of the year is between 18000 to 20000 as in first year i paid 20000 and in second year it was decreased to 19000 and the course fees is same for all expect the pwd as the have to pay a very little amount and there is also registration fees that is 1200 to 1500 which has been increased from 1st semester to coming semester but there are no other extra charges for the course like there are no extra compulsory charges in the course completion. Besides this the college also provide fee concession on depending various factors as family annual income there background etc along this the scholarship is also provided to the meritorious students like who have scored more than 8.5 cgpa in a year like Prof. Anil Krishan Aggarwal Meritorious Award (for bsc students in final year),Ravimohan Bharti Scholarship by Prof. Preeti Tiwari, Department of Geography ( for geography students in final year),Dr. Usha Aggarwal Trust ( for b.com students). Basically these all scholarship are based on the marks obtained by the students in their final examination along this scholarship is also provided to bpl and pwd students which is named as Vice Chancellor Student Fund- Financial assistance for BPL students and PWD students.

Placement Experience

The college has a placement cell and provide a very good rate of placement for the courses like b.com ,bsc and some for the courses such as geography. Placements take place in the 5th sem if you are doing three year degree or in the 7th sem if you are doing four year degree. The number of companies visited were about 80 to 90 the names of the recruiters is as Google, Accenture, Amazon, Talent Serve, Deloitte. The highest package was of 24 lpa and the median salary is 5 lpa the lowest package was of 2 lpa . 60 % of students are placed in placement. My plans after getting the degree is will prefer higher education

Campus Life

The campus life at Miranda house is very fun and happening. Fests and carnivals are organised frequently to keep the students engaged and entertained. Our annual fest named "Tempest" is usually held in February and is one of the coolest highlight of the year. Our library is well equipped and a wide range of books of all subjects are available to us. We are also provided a digital library that helps us search and get access to almost all the required resources and books. Our classrooms are well equipped and organised with a good lighting system in all rooms, most of the rooms are also air conditioned. A wide variety of sports and extra curriculurs are provided within the campus, we have a gym area, a basketball court, a badminton ground , a chess club and many more. A number of clubs and societies like TedX, DebSoc(debating), Ariels (drama), Suvakta(MUN), etc are very active and engaging. Being a member of these societies provide the students an opportunity to engage and interact with students of different courses and build better connections.

Faculty

The faculty of geography department is very hardworking and dedicated towards their tasks. Classes are held regularly with very rare chances of a faculty member taking leave. The teachers are not too friendly but they are pretty approachable and students can talk to them about their problems and issues easily. There are teachers like Mr Praffulit Bisht, Mrs Ruchi Sachan and Mr Om Jee Ranjan who have been nothing but supportive and helpful in guiding us through our course. Our department of geography conducts mid semester exams in the middle of each semester, plus mock exams for the practical subject, and then there are the final semester exams conducted by the Delhi University. In my knowledge,it is very rare for a student to fail the exams. The course curriculum is very relevant for the modern scope and opportunities in the geographic fields, we are learning to work hard and get to experience practical tasks that will help us in the future.

Thr faculty in my college is really nice. All the teachers ars highly skilled and have great course knowledge. They are really helpful and friendly which makes the learning process quite enjoyable. The marking scheme depends on the overall performance of the student throughout the semester based on Test, Presentation, Assignments, and Project work etc. Usually most students pass without any difficulty but irregular students often find it hard to pass. Course curriculum is wuite relevant and enhnaces our knowledge of the study alot.

Fees and Financial Aid

18000 is the fees I paid for the whole year ,it might increase in every few years but the hike is very minimal. Students from weak financial backgrounds can avail scholarships. Exam fees has to be paid in the end which for me aas 1210 rs however for other categories , it is comparatively less.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum needs to be updates definitely as it is very muuch according to old times and includes concepts which may not be useful in the future. The difficulty level is mostly medium , it is not vety hard to get a good score if you have practiced well

Course Curriculum Overview

This course was chosen as there is nothing like knowing the world. Geography is because I want myself to be aware of all corners of the world. Our course is that deep and where can we find what. Which countries has what all resources and how those countries are controlled is all taught in our beautiful course.

Campus Life

Our campus is good and bigger than most North Campus colleges. Yes we don't have a hostel but buildings and all are amazing. Also, our annual fest Renaissance is attended by over 100 colleges and then we have few other events and Kasturba is one of those.

The yearwise fee is around 25000 non increasing.the fee is same for all the students apart from the ones who are on reserved category. i did not avail any kind of scholarships and since i had done it way back in 2011 so i am not aware of the bifurcation

Campus Life

the campus life is quite amazing with regular attendance criteria so that most of the students are available almost all the time. also the friends and people are quite supportive and knowledgeable as per the standards

Faculty

Exactly don't know about the ratio but there are less number of teachers in ratio to students I like Natasha Malhotra because her teaching style is best...she approaches very well and friendly too I don't think Aparna Rai because she is arrogant and She is too rigid nd not even try to understand problem which could be genuine There are.semester wise exams and questions asked were not too hard not too easy..

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course particularly because I have interest in geography and my needs meet well with the course curriculum of my college It prepares well because subjects are quite relevant in day to day life Teaching methods could be improved and it should be made interactive with the students and written work could be managed Frequency and timing of exam are good ...not a major issue
