Likes

Various big companies offering a good package comes to college every year and a good number of student get placements every year.
A good faculty having a great mentor skills and expertise in different subjects, teachers are helpful and coordinator.
There are not as many fests as in other colleges but we do have a good number of clubs and societies that makes college life interesting and exciting.

Dislikes

The annual fest is very nice and happening but the regular college life is close to hell if you are an average student.
The fines are more in this college and students faces a lot of problems
The professors are unfriendly and sometimes very rude and not understanding. also i find them pretentious.

A brief introduction to St. Xavier's College, Kolkata

Likes

The academic environment is one of the best in the country in my opinion. Being a management student our course is focused on real world application rather than mugging up theories. The professors are really helpful and supportive.
Overall SXC in my opinion is a perfect blend of college fun and academic success. The college provides internship opportunities, valuable workshops and ted talks and a calm environment for its students.
The placement cell also ensures that each student gets a internship. Specially after it became mandatory under NEP. The college also has one of the biggest libraries in the city which also helps students with getting a hold of books.

Dislikes

The pressure of attendence is present in this college. Under CU guidelines 75% attendance is mandatory and attendence of each subject is calculated seperately which can be a issue sometimes.

Placement Experience:

Students of 3rd year are eligible for placements. Though higher placements are offered to students of 4th year. Top companies like Deloitte come to the college to recruit students. For the year 23-24 70+ companies came to the college for recruitments and 500+ offers were given over all the departments. I aim to do my MBA after getting the degree but depending upon the placement I get plans might change

Likes

Each class is installed with a projector and are smart classes.Girls is to boys ratio being 70:30
The faculty are highly qualified and are very helpful. The social interaction can be improved with joining various societies in our college for all round development.
As I was into business and MBA this course was very much relevant to me

Dislikes

The thing that you will hear from most of the SXC student that it is a school as there is very much strictness
The infrastructure buidlings and all are very old fashioned

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement in the final year of thier respected courses.There is a Placement Cell in our college. Students need to register themself in the placement cell to be considered for on campus placements. Many renowed companies such as Deloitte,KPMG,Zomato comes every year. The highest package last year was 21 lpa bagged by a Bcom student. The median salary offered is around 6 lpa and the job roles are of Marketing, finanace, sales, risk analysts, etc. Nearly 90% of student (showing up for placement) gets selected. You can also opt for off campus placement and eye for high packages due to the reputation of the college.
