Course Curriculum Overview
As I was interested in business and MBA so I took this course. The real world examples along with internships prepares a student for the real world and the relevant subjects prepares one to the bsuiness or further studies. The curriculum could give more emphasis on practical knowledge rather than theoritical knowledge. Exams are taken every six months and are very moderate.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placement in the final year of thier respected courses.There is a Placement Cell in our college. Students need to register themself in the placement cell to be considered for on campus placements. Many renowed companies such as Deloitte,KPMG,Zomato comes every year. The highest package last year was 21 lpa bagged by a Bcom student. The median salary offered is around 6 lpa and the job roles are of Marketing, finanace, sales, risk analysts, etc. Nearly 90% of student (showing up for placement) gets selected. You can also opt for off campus placement and eye for high packages due to the reputation of the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for each semster is divided into 2 installments increasing fees every year.Hence making if 4 times fees payment over a period of one year and 2 semesters.Total being 4 years according to the new National Education Policy.Each installment is around 33 to 35,000 with the very first installment of the year being 42 or 43,000.Hence the total approx fees over a year is around 1,50,000 approx. Yes there is an yearly scholarship of college but only of rs.500 according to sgpa and attendance.
Campus Life
The biggest annual fest and college event of Kolkata Xavotsav is arranged by our college inviting renowed celebs and standup comedians. The social life is the best around SXC.Different clubs and scoieties arrange different intra college events around the year which gives much excitement and exposure to students. The central library in our college is the biggest of any college in Kolkata providing books of each genre and even 2 study rooms. There are various sports communities and a sports society and various sports event including XPL and sports day are conducted.
Admission
I had applied for the integrated blended course program IPMAT at IIMs but slightly missed it by 4 marks.After that I applied at SXC,Kolkata and chose this college above others as this college is the best in kolkata with a all India NIRF ranking of 5. The reputation of the college itself was the reason to choose this college above the others. The admission process of the college is as below: Minimu 60% in 12th boards with maths being compulsory for all Bcom and BMS courses. There is no entrance exam for Bcom cutoff being aprrox 92 percent in the last list. For BMS there is an entrance exam of 50 marks and other 50% weightage of boards marks.Cutoffs being around 67% in the last list which is every year decreasing.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 1:30. The faculty to student relationship is also good.The faculty are quite easily approachable. Exams are taken every six months finals of the semester and a mid sem exam is taken of 40 marks which has a weightage of 10 marks in finals. The exams are quite easy and can be done greatly if attentive in class. As I was into business and MBA so this exam is very relevant for me.
