What Students Say
Likes
- The academic environment is one of the best in the country in my opinion. Being a management student our course is focused on real world application rather than mugging up theories. The professors are really helpful and supportive.
- Overall SXC in my opinion is a perfect blend of college fun and academic success. The college provides internship opportunities, valuable workshops and ted talks and a calm environment for its students.
- The placement cell also ensures that each student gets a internship. Specially after it became mandatory under NEP. The college also has one of the biggest libraries in the city which also helps students with getting a hold of books.
Dislikes
- The pressure of attendence is present in this college. Under CU guidelines 75% attendance is mandatory and attendence of each subject is calculated seperately which can be a issue sometimes.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is one of the best when it comes to preparing students for the real world. With its emphasis on real world application and case based teaching it helps students understand concepts rather than just mugging them up. The BMS course also gives you a heads up of what to expect when pursuing a MBA The exams are not frequent enough with gaps of 2-3 months giving students enough time to study and grasp concepts.
Internships Opportunities
Being a first year I am not sure about the internships and stipends offered in our college but top companies do come to the college for placements and the average package is about 4,00,000. Which is considered a good package for placements of undergraduate students. The college does offer internship through the placement cell ensuring that students get some real world experience before they graduate.
Placement Experience
Students of 3rd year are eligible for placements. Though higher placements are offered to students of 4th year. Top companies like Deloitte come to the college to recruit students. For the year 23-24 70+ companies came to the college for recruitments and 500+ offers were given over all the departments. I aim to do my MBA after getting the degree but depending upon the placement I get plans might change
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are taken in instalments. Two instalments per semester to be exact. It ranges from course to course but for BMS the first instalment was about 60000 and second being 30000. Then there are 2 instalments for the second semester which are about 40000 each. The fees for the first year is given to students. Since the fee structure changes 2nd year feesa are not given. However the average fees for the entire course currently is about 4-5 lakhs.
Campus Life
The overall campus life is good. Being in first year it is a wonderful chance to explore each society and finding what resonates with you. There are also sports departments organising several tournaments and games for the students. The events in the college are a mixture of fun and learning.
Admission
I did apply to Delhi University but my scores of CUET were not good enough to get colleges better than SXC. Thus I opted for Xavier's. I also did apply to local colleges but since Xavier's is a T1 college it was a better option than all of them. The BMS course has an entrance test with 50% weightage and the other 50% being your board marks. The cut off for ISC students giving the entrance was about 67%(50% boards + 50% entrance test)
Faculty
The college conducts midsems and semester finals, the midsems being 20 to 40 marks each paper depending on the subjects and the finals being 40 to 80 marks. The exams are moderate to hard depending on the subjects. Objective papers test your skills while subjective papers test your ability to think critically with case based questions. The faculty is really approachable. Their teaching style also reflects real world application, involving the entire class in the lesson and using real world examples to explain concepts.
Night Life
The college is in the Park Street area which is famous for its night life. Being an evening student the accessibility of the place not reduced though many of the roads become one way. Overall the college runs from early morning (6am) to late at night (8:05 pm). There are several stores near the college which students usually hang out in. The library how ever closes at 6pm

I live in kolkata so it was inconvenient for me to change states. And why my CUET score I would have gotten South Campus colleges. SXC is better than South Campus colleges
