The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Inside Thapar- placements, campus life and beyond

Likes

Thapar campus, classrooms and hostels are top notch
They are different society clubs, and many extra curricular activities. Good campus life
Good placement and internships for students

Dislikes

The fees of college is quite high sometimes become burden
While some teachers are good some are just engaged in slide reading
The batches are crowded and competition is stiff

Placement Experience:

students become eligible for placement in 6 semester onwards Every year 200+ companies visit the college 2000+ offers are offered among various branches Highest package this year was about 50-60 lakh I plan to pursue Masters degree from abroad later on

Honest is the best Policy

Likes

The overall infra of the college is really impressive
Library is best and provides a good environment to study.
Lecture halls are made very well and huge enough.

Dislikes

There are connectivity issues is really a big problem.

Placement Experience:

Placements are really great of our college as its avg pakage is of 11 lac from computer related branches. Girls are eligible in second year for inters and for boys its generally from 3rd year because of the reservations.

Thapar University- A boon or a bane

Likes

The college campus is serene, vast and has everything you need
Good extracurricular activities, ample of time
Good infrastructure, hostels, academic blocks

Dislikes

College in time is 8pm. Not really appreciated
Most cultural events happen a week before exams
Too many students(~20,000 in all 4 years combined)

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is offered for all branches. Good companies ranging from Oracle to Deloitte to Bain and Co. for various tech and non-tech roles offer decent packages for freshers. Tech companies pay better

Its all really nice

Likes

The hostel room is very nice and that can be cleaned by cleaners if you want
The mess is also pretty good and comes with a variety
The boys to girl ratio is approximately 20:14

Dislikes

There is the 75 percent attendance criteria which is hard to follow
Most of the girls are allready in a relarionship

The courses and the ciriculum are really helpful including courses such as proffesional comunication and manufacturing processing so it can help us a lot and then there are subjects like maths i dont really get why is it still teaching i just hate it

Thapar University: A gateway to exposure and vibrant campus life

Likes

Peers make the campus good, it is the only private college where placements are equal to NITS.
Campus is so beautiful giving positive vibes.
Infrastructure like computer labs, library, lecture halls are world-class.

Dislikes

Hostel food is not good. But there are hostel canteens that make up for it.
Fees is too much and increases 10% every year.

Placement Experience:

Placements for circuital branch is very good. Around 90-95 percent students get placed in these branches, most companies visit during 7th semester. Companies like JP Morgan, Deloitte, DE shaw, Arcesium visit campus every year. For core companies like L&T, Maruti visit regularly.

My review of TIET

Likes

Great infrastructure. The classes, labs and halls were well organised. Faculty was nice.

Dislikes

Only one auditorium, that too very small. During events or functions, to get in we had a lottery system.

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming from 6th sem onwards and take a fee good students with them for internship. They also get PPO if there performance remain good in the company. The actual placement starts from 7th semester onwards. Some very good companies came like apple, robrix, microsoft, jp morgan and chase etc. Highest package I think was aroung 55 LPA. Average was around 9 LPA for computer science.

Positive crowd having knowledgeable students
Good infrastructure with well maintained equipment

Dislikes

Some professors are arrogant and are bad at teaching
The fees is quite high and is unaffordable for most students

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is good, has been affected due to the recession, but is still quite good. Many companies visit the college, and the average placement of the Computer Science programme was about 12-15 lakhs per annum.

Nice Academic environment, big library, sports environment

Dislikes

Too crowded. Lots of students on campus which makes it too saturated

Placement Experience:

students are eligible for placements from 4th year. companies like Apple, nvidia, etc visit the campus. highest package was 60 lpa through campus and average was 12 lpa. Placement data for this year hasn't been released yet and previous year is available on website. my plans are to take up a full time job offer through campus placement

Good campus and nice infrastructure

Likes

Campus is lush green , and open and wide .
Campus is not away from city , it in the city.
Nice infrastructure and has won awards for it.

Dislikes

Little expensive as fees is on higher side.
Some hostels are not good as per expected.
Some teachers are very strict and have to aggression

Placement Experience:

Thapar has good placements. Big tech giants like apple , google and microsoft come to campus for placements. 3rd and 4th year students are placed at big companies. If a student is not placed, he has a wide exposure in different sectors

A comprehensive review of Thapar University

Likes

The infrastructure is really good and well equipped
The gender ratio is good, approximately 50%
Professors are good and their teaching methods are nice

Dislikes

Fees is very high. It definitely is unaffordable for many
The crowd quality is not so good as compared to other colleges
Exams are conducted very frequently giving no time for other extra curricular

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is decent. First year covers broad subjects to find one's interest. Chemistry is very easy, math is relevant to the computer science. Electronics is also relevant and taught mandatorily in first year

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
