Thapar University Student Experience

i chose computer science because i am interested in computer programming and also considering the job market trend. Cirriculum is pretty much upto industry standards amd teaching methods are conventional.

students are eligible for placements from 4th year. companies like Apple, nvidia, etc visit the campus. highest package was 60 lpa through campus and average was 12 lpa. Placement data for this year hasn't been released yet and previous year is available on website. my plans are to take up a full time job offer through campus placement

Year wise fees is 6 lakh odd something. Tution fees for 4 years is 23.8 lakhs. Hostel fees is 49k per semester. scholarships are available for merit and merit cum need based. 100 percent tution fee waiver to top 250 students of college.

annual technical and cultural festival name is 'Saturnalia'. It is a great fest with lots of sponsers. we can borrow any book from library. and it has a huge range. All classes are equipped with projectors and white boards. Sports are awesome in campus with huge grounds and facilities. lots of clubs and societies both techinal and cultural

Hostel Facility is decent compared to stereotypical hostels. you have an option to opt for Ac hostels, washrooms are recently renovated. mess food is good aside from the fact that after a point it gets repetitive. Hostel is allocated with college admission if you opt for it and fee is 50k for semester.

I applied for bits and government colleges through jee but my rank was not good enough and i was getting lower tier nits.i also couldnt get admitted into any B.e course of bits i preferred Tiet as i felt it would give me more exposure and also it has a decent average package admission process is through jee and boards

Faculty to student ratio is decent. 1:150 approximately. Faculties are very approachable for any doubts. All faculties are good. 2 main exams in 1 semester mst and est and sessionals/quizzes in between. Exams are easy to clear and courses are industry relevant

Nightlife is not so good in campus since there is hostel in time for students and most of the shops get closed out. But outside campus there are a lot of things to do at just a 10 min walk. there are shopping complexes, restraunts, cafes, gamezones, etc
