Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Patiala Faculties : Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 41 Reviews

The faculty at the university is predominantly well-qualified, with many holding PhDs from prestigious institutions such as Oxford University, Harvard Law School, and renowned NLUs. The faculty includes both associate and assistant professors, with over 10 years of teaching experience, particularly excelling in specialized subjects. The faculty-student ratio ranges from 1:60 to 1:70, with some law subjects experiencing lower ratios, impacting students aiming for higher studies abroad. Faculty are approachable, available for guidance beyond class hours, and maintain a professional yet student-friendly demeanor.

Despite the high qualifications, there is scope for improvement in teaching methods, which can sometimes lead to monotonous classes. The university employs a feedback system through Faculty Assessment forms, allowing students to evaluate teachers each semester. The average batch size is 120-140 students, divided into sections, and the course structure includes two exams per semester. While most faculty members are supportive and facilitate students' holistic development, there is a mix of exceptional and less competent teachers.

Our faculties are renowned and also holds muscle power as management too has given them full freedom. Thus they carry on things their own way and that's not all they have been superstars ever since they have arrived and have made this move of doing things the way they want. However their ways are students friendly and has so far worked in our far.

Our faculties are more than ever approachable as there's a residential facility for them inside the campus and quite a few of them stay there. So we see them off classes too and can have a word with them after the classes. So, not just our benches hand raised questions are answered but our life problems too can be discussed with them.

There's just too much class and too much pedigree when it comes to faculties of RGNLU. In short too much talent over there and lots and lots of experience and this is how I would like to sum up my faculties as they are arguably one of the best.

Faculty:

The faculty at our university is great, intellectual, and student-friendly. Most of the Faculty are alumni of renowned institutions like Oxford University, Harvard Law School, Leiden University, and reputed NLU's. The faculty student ratio is basically medium with 1:70 and the faculty not just behave as our professors but also our mentors, helping us to make the full out of our educational studies. All the faculties at our University are highly intellectual as well as lucid in their nature, naming some of them like Ms Aditi Dubey, who teaches Pol. Science to the First-Year Students and Mr. Saurabh Sharma, who teaches international law and contract law to the students. Further, discussing about the exam structure, the same is divided into 10 semesters containing 2 exams in each semester i.e. endsems and the midsems, the difficulty level of the exam is not very difficult and the same can be pertained to the curricula adopted in our university which is not much complicated and most of the study material can be easily found online. Furthermore, if you are having your basics clear then you can clear the exam easily, by just studying before a week of exams. Moreover, due to the easy level of difficulty with exams, only 7-8 students from the 180 students batch fails every year.

The faculty that tecahes us are choosen ones from alot of applicants that come all the tecahers are PHD's in their subjects and have done many research papers which are published in well known publications. The classes are structured in a way that for the first year you are taught the basic subjects of Law and more of the sociual sciences, So that a student who just passed his school does'nt find studing law difficult. From the second year onwards we are made to study the law subjects which hold significant.

Faculty to student ratio is fine. The course is chill certain teachers again 1 in 10 are strict rest all are pretty chill about syllabus and attendance l. Course curriculum is pretty chil and easy. Student do fail but very rare and eventually are able to clear exams. The new VC seems to bother certain teachers due to his policies. Certain teachers are very bad never gives any notes acts very bad with students and no at all cooperative with their problems. Interning two months in a semester is not possible because of the academic structure. Teachers dont teach anything well in the class but still they want full presence in the class. They dont care about internships or jobs they dont know anything about them as well.
