Students are advised to carefully check the university’s official refund guidelines during admission to plan finances accordingly and avoid surprises.

NUSRL Ranchi Admissions FAQ

Ques. Can students apply to multiple programmes at NUSRL Ranchi in the same year, like BALLB and BBA LL.B., or is only one application allowed?

Ans. Students can technically apply to multiple UG programmes, such as BALLB and BBA LL.B., but separate applications must be submitted for each programme through the CLAT UG process. Each application is evaluated independently, and selection depends on CLAT scores and counselling ranks. Applying to multiple programmes can increase admission chances but also requires careful attention to deadlines, eligibility, and fee payments for each application.

Ques. For the Ph.D. programme, how important is the research proposal compared to the written test and interview in NUSRL Ranchi’s selection process?

Ans. The research proposal is a critical component of the Ph.D. selection process at NUSRL Ranchi. While the written test or UGC NET-JRF ensures academic aptitude, the proposal demonstrates the candidate’s research focus, originality, and alignment with faculty expertise. The interview further evaluates feasibility, methodology, and scholarly potential. A strong proposal significantly enhances the chance of selection, even if the written test score is moderate, as it reflects readiness for independent research.

NUSRL Ranchi Cutoff 2026

National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi accepts CLAT UG scores for admission to its B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme. The CLAT 2026 cutoff ranks for NUSRL Ranchi have been released for Round 1 counselling.

NUSRL Ranchi admissions are conducted through the CLAT UG examination.

For the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme, the CLAT 2026 Round 1 closing rank for the General category ranges between 4950 and 6274 under the Home State quota and between 1297 and 1356 under the All India quota.

Among General category candidates, B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) in Constitutional Law emerged as the most preferred specialisation in 2026, with the lowest closing rank of 4950 (Home State) and 1297 (All India). Other specialisations, including Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Law, and Criminal Law, recorded similar cutoff ranks in Round 1 counselling.

The NUSRL Ranchi CLAT Cutoff 2026 represents the minimum rank required for admission during Round 1 counselling. Cutoff ranks vary depending on factors such as category, quota, seat availability, and counselling rounds. Candidates securing ranks within the prescribed cutoff range are eligible for seat allotment, subject to CLAT counselling procedures.

NUSRL Ranchi Cutoff FAQ

Ques. How much do NUSRL Ranchi’s CLAT cutoffs vary between specialisations within the BALLB programme?

Ans. The cutoffs at NUSRL Ranchi can vary slightly between specialisations, though differences are generally small. For instance, in 2026, Constitutional Law had the lowest closing rank, making it the most preferred, while Corporate, Intellectual Property, International, and Criminal Law had slightly higher closing ranks. These variations are influenced by student demand for each specialisation, seat availability, and category quotas. Choosing a less popular specialisation may increase the likelihood of admission for candidates near the cutoff.

Ques. Do CLAT cutoffs at NUSRL Ranchi differ significantly for Home State quota versus All India quota?

Ans. Yes, there is a noticeable difference between Home State and All India cutoffs. For 2026, the General category closing rank under the Home State quota ranged between 4950-6274, while the All India quota was much more competitive, with ranks between 1297-1356. Home State candidates generally have an advantage in securing seats at slightly lower ranks due to reserved quotas, whereas All India candidates compete for a smaller pool of seats, making high CLAT scores more critical.

Okay so in NLUs it doesn't work like that. You don't chose a college, you are allotted one based on your CLAT score and rank. Ours is tier 2 college and I got it based on my CLAT rank. The entire procedure for the same is that we have to fill out the CLAT form. Fill in the preference, give the test. Get the scorecard and then after counselling rounds (there are 5) all the selected students are allotted the college. Counselling sessions are basically, they provide you with college, you either accept, or hold or reject it. You can also exit the procedure any time. Once allotted, you basically need to keep checking the site of the college and get regular updates regarding the admission process. There are also vacancy available. After the entire procedure is done and everyone's allotted a college, you get to keep looking at your dream college's site and apply as soon as you see the vacancy notice. After that also they accept the people with better rank, it you are lucky you get in, or you simply stay where you are. And then either accept it or give CLAT again.
