01 Aug, 2025 CLAT 2026 Registration has started for admission to 5-year Integrated LLB program. The last date to register @consortiumofnlus.ac.in is October 31, 2025. CLAT 2026 is scheduled for December 7, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM. To know more, click here.

National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL) is a law university located in Ranchi, India. It was established by a legislative act, by the State Of Jharkhand (act no. 4 of 2010) as the fourteenth national law university of India. The university is affiliated to UGC and Bar Council of India.

The university caters a UG, PG and Ph.D programmes focusing the area of Law. At the UG level the university offers B.A.LLB, at the PG level the LLM programme is offered by the university. Doctor of Philosophy, abbreviation of Ph.D is served by the university at the Doctoral level.

Candidates seeking admission in B.A.LLB programme need to appear in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) entrance examination is conducted for admission to 18 of the coveted National Law Schools.
The admission in LLM programme is accepted through CLAT.

NUSRL BA.LLB Admission 2025

National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL) offers a career oriented Law course named Bachelor of Law (LLB) at the undergraduate level under multi specializations. The Law course is of five hours.

Candidates want to make career in the field of Law from NUSRL have to hold a 10+2 level or equivalent degree from a recognized university.

Candidates seeking admission in B.A.LLB programme need to appear in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) entrance examination is conducted for admission to 18 of the coveted National Law Schools. NUSRL LLM Admission 2025

At the PG level the university offers Master of Law (LLM) in four specializations. The duration period is one year. Candidates seeking admission in LLM must need to hold a LLB degree at the UG level from a recognized institute or university.

The admission in LLM programme is accepted through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a non-statutory body created under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the convenience of the students seeking admission to various National Law Universities in the country.

NUSRL Ph.D Admission 2025

The NUSRL serves research based Doctoral programme, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in the area of Law. Candidates seeking admission in Ph.D must need to secure a LLM degree to meet the eligibility criteria.

The university makes the selection process through an Entrance Test. The performance of the candidates in the exam decides the selection of the candidates for the refered course.

KeyNote:

PhD program is residential. Therefore, students are required to reside in the Hostel compulsorily provided by the University during the course of their program.
PhD program is time-bound program. Therefore, the students are required to complete their degree programs within the stipulated time or else they shall not be eligible for getting a degree. There is no provision for extension of the time required for the completion of the Programs.

Duly filled-in Applications must reach the office of the Registrar, National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi, At- Nagri, Kanke-Pithoria Road, Kanke, P.O.-Bukru, Ranchi- 834006(Jharkhand).

All Applications must be attached with a Bank Draft of Rs. 2500/- as Application Fee. (The Draft of any Bank must be payable to Registrar, NUSRL, Ranchi and Payable at Ranchi, Jharkhand.

NUSRL- a brief overview.

Admission:

Yeah we had to give CLAT - common law admission test, to get into my college. It's a National Law University. Consortium of NLUs conducts CLAT. Application fee is 4000. It's conducted once every year. No, I didnt apply to any other university because i wanted to study law only.

NUSRL review

Admission:

During counselling, initially, I was allotted NLU, Tamil Nadu but I chose to float it as it was really far away from my hometown. After that in the 2nd list, I was allotted DNLU, Jabalpur, but I floated again because DNLU wasa 3 tier college and it has been recently established, so, I left. Next, I got NLU, ranchi which was not very far away from my city and was doing well in the field. Eligibility -12th paas Admission accepted through CLAT exam

The reason why I choose this collage was it was within my state and I could study as well and live near my home so this was the reason I choose and I didn't get any tops 5 nlus so for any other nlus I was not able to leave other then NLU ranchi because it's was near my home

Nusrl Dissected

Admission:

I was very clear that I have to go to a NLU anyday over anything . There are good private universities but the name that a NLU has is unmatched. Even the internship and placement opportunities these days are preferring NLU grads. Moving to central Universities. No doubt they are good as well but the work culture and exposure which I can get into a NLU is unmatched. The kindoff compulsion of internships, Moot court exercises and discipline of the course is something which a NLU only can fulfill. It's meant for Law!!!

NUSRL through my eyes.

Admission:

I got confirmed admission from Symbiosis Law School, Noida. In ClAT counselling round I got a seat in NLU Assam also. I chose this college over SLS Noida because this is an NLU. And NLU Ranchi has better ranking than NLU Assam. Admission in my college happen through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Seat is allotted through counselling process which happens in 5 rounds. Cutoff rank for NUSRL Ranchi is around 1600 for general category.

Admission:

we have listed to 22 NLUs all over the India. to get into these university we have write CLAT exam after completing 12th or after graduation for 3 years. I got this university, after 12th, as I wish to get top NLUs, but couldn't go there because of cutt off. as we compare to top NLUs to this tier 3 NlUs, is not as such difference, but the difference takes place in placement cell. in the top NLUs, the alumi's runs many corporate firms, which they hire students every years. that makes only difference.

A short review on NUSRL, Ranchi

Admission:

Okay so in NLUs it doesn't work like that. You don't chose a college, you are allotted one based on your CLAT score and rank. Ours is tier 2 college and I got it based on my CLAT rank. The entire procedure for the same is that we have to fill out the CLAT form. Fill in the preference, give the test. Get the scorecard and then after counselling rounds (there are 5) all the selected students are allotted the college. Counselling sessions are basically, they provide you with college, you either accept, or hold or reject it. You can also exit the procedure any time. Once allotted, you basically need to keep checking the site of the college and get regular updates regarding the admission process. There are also vacancy available. After the entire procedure is done and everyone's allotted a college, you get to keep looking at your dream college's site and apply as soon as you see the vacancy notice. After that also they accept the people with better rank, it you are lucky you get in, or you simply stay where you are. And then either accept it or give CLAT again.

Law school chronicles life at NUSRL Ranchi

Admission:

NUSRL Rachi offers an affordable fee structure compared to older NLUS like Nlsiu Bangalore or Nalsar Hyderabad. NUSRL Ranchi has an 67 acre campus though relatively new provide a conducive environment for academics and extracurricular activities. Colleges I applied To NLU Jodhpur NLU Delhi Nlsiu Bangalore Nalsar Hyderabad but I got But I got rejected because I am not able to secure the rank required for the admission in this NLUS To get admission in these colleges you have to appear in CLAT exam CLAT EXAM OF 120 MARKS CUTOFF 80-85 MARKS FOR NLU RANCHI

My first year at NUSRL

Admission:

Well this answer is somewhat wrong because you get a NLU after clearing common law admission test and on the basis of it you get a College. The reason I had nusrl at 14th rank was because of the NIRF ranking.
