Iit ropar offers a great range of scholarship opportunities for students.
The placement opportunities are very good here even in core branches it is good
I liked the campus first of all, its so beautiful . the four pillars at the entry is the main attraction of campus

Dislikes

There are no air conditioning system in hostels leading to problems in summer
They did scam as they converted the single rooms to double rooms this is really bad as they took fesss they it is to promote bonding but this is a piece of shit
Mess food is not so good here it is not tasty

IIT Ropar is a remarkable college!

Likes

Our Principal Professor SK Das has led from the front and made IIT Ropar one of the best 2nd gen IITs.
Computer Science students are provided a mandatory 6 months internship and thus making learning fully practical.
In 2nd gen IITs, it is one of the largest campuses and is also among the most sanitized campuses too.

Dislikes

Campus is in a town and therefore nothing to explore nearby.

Google, NVIDIA and likewise many others who are planning to have their setup in Punjab are already hiring a lot of people from our college. So, placements median so far is close or a shade above 10 but obviously it will grow to 20 till our turn comes.

IIT ROPAR(one of the best newer iits)

Likes

Our college has a very good research culture. Making it one of the best second tier iit.
Profs are young and are understanding and tech very well.
The acedemics of our college is one of the best in India.

Dislikes

Our college has a little underdeveloped campus. Although the buildings that are made are pretty well. But things like indoor court are missing. But it has been said that it will be made available soon
The investment in clubs is a little less i think. Our colleges primary focus is on academics
There is no swimming pool which wveryone in our college dislikes

Placement Experience:

From third year we can sit in our placement cell. The placement of our college is preemtty good. The average package overall is about 20 to 25 lakhs per anum and about 32 lakhs for cs branch. Almost 80 to 90 percent of students get placed in cs branch. Highest package this year is about 58 lakhs( domestic ).

The guide to IIT Ropar

Likes

The DNA structure at the entry of college looks really good at night.
Also the campus is pretty green and clean.
We also have LHC and Audi in proximity saving time.

Dislikes

There are several dogs in the campus, and so I feel scared walking alone in night.
Also there are several cases of bicycle stealing. Even my circle got stolen.
The hostel is a little far from the lecture hall complex.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is not very useful in my views. Except for English none of them are up to date. For example in computing course, we study c language instead of cpp. Also in maths, the calculus is the topic and in exams marks are alloted on the basis of well one wrote in the sheet and it isn't the best method to calculate answer.

The batchsize is less enabling students to interact more with seniors and profs.

The one thing I don't like is that it is far from city

Yes, iit ropar provides placements to 4th year students.Also, many preplacement offers are also made to 3rd year students who are doing there internship.Many companies like Google, Microsoft, oracle ,facebook, Amazon etc make offers

IIT Ropar, a brief overview

Likes

The crowd. Students are really bright and overall provides a good healthy competitive environment
The clubs. A lot of cultural, sports, literary and tech clubs are present.
Placements. A lot of good companies regularly visit for placemements

Dislikes

Reachability, location is a bit off, in rural rupnagar
While there are a few options for food and groceries, i feel we need even more of them
Students are somewhat lax towards builiding a strong culture in terms of participation.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are done at the end of 7th semester and continue till the end of 8th semester. Lot of top MNCs like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, DeShaw, Sprinklr etc visit our campus and hire students regularly. In my branch, almost 100% students sitting for placements get placed by the time they graduate. I plan to work in IT after graduating

Good collage with highly active students professors are really good

Dislikes

Some professor are very strict and very small room provided to freshers for double sharing

Placement Experience:

At 7 th semester you are eligible for placements Many mnc's comes to our collage like google ,oracle and many others highest package will be approx 88 lakh this year and approx all cse students get placed

Likes

I like the campus as it is spacious and green
The hostels facilities, they provide LAN connection in every room.
The faculties are experienced and you can discuss your doubts

Dislikes

A lot of area of the college is still underdeveloped
There is no major city around the college.
The mesd food is fine, but can be better.

Placement Experience:

Placement ratio for the CSE prior to this year was above 98% but I don't know about this year. There has been a downgrade due to layoffs. Internships are available in 2nd year whereas placements are done in 4th year.

The infrastructure and the greenery and cleanliness
All hostels don't seem old . And all facilities are there in the hostel
All type of food are available which you can enjoy

Dislikes

The professors seem a bit less concerned of how the students are doing. They rather focus on their syllabus
Mess food quality is not that good as the food is made in large quantity it's quality degrades
Load of studies can be seen on students as they have to complete assignments on time

Placement Experience:

Campus placement are decent. They are also growing day by day. We get a avg package of about 2.5 lakhs . Nowadays there is a decline in placements but it is expected to rise in upcoming years as the college grows day by day

IIT ROPAR LIFE

Likes

The infrastructure of college is modern attracting the students.
There are highly advanced equipment's in labs which are imported from german
There are great sports facilities giving an extra edge to the college

Dislikes

There are no air conditioning system in hostels leading to problems in summer
There is no great facility which connect the clg to city
The college area is very huge so it is difficult to go from one space ro other

Like today is world of computer and there are several fields for computer in which i can persue my career. Like i am interested in doing b.tech in computer so i opted for cse. The exams are after every 2 months .
