Mathematics department faculty is really very good. They are supportive and helpful. As far as exams are concerned, end sem,mid sem with some quizzes are held to check if student is understanding properly or not. As far as grading is concerned, that is a issue. Very less students recieve A or A- , they award max student a B or B- unless you do exceptionally well which affects the cgpa.

Faculty of mechanical department are very helpful and kind, you can directly go to their office or write a mail to schedule a meeting My favourite are dr harpreet sir , dr dhiraj sir They have very good knowledge in there respective field and their teaching style is very good. I don't like dr sachin kumar sir because Even after attending his class I don't understand much, I have to watch YouTube lecture for exam. Usually we have 2 quiz of 10 marks each , mid semister of 30 mark and end semister of 40 marks and 10 Mark for attendance assignment etc . Although it depends on course instructor how many exams he wants to take . Roughly about 0 to 6 students fails per course.

In our academic environment the faculty to studnet ratio stands at an imoressive 30 students per faculty member this ratio fosters a conductive learning atmosphere The relationship betwen faculty and students is generally postitve and mutual respect >Faculty members are approchable by attending to their office at their available timings to clear the doubts and discussions .One faculty member i would like to appreciate is the instructor from the general lab course .The teaching methodology is remarkable they have a unique way of explaining concepts by relating them real-world applications. On the other hand there are faculty members who did not resonate well with me or my classmates ,Specially I found in. mathematics instructor to be less effective in delievering content, espcially when it comes to fundamental concepts. In terms of assessments of the ocurse the exams are moderate there are four exams for the course like 2 quizzes ,1 mid term and 1 end term .in 100 students 15 students struggle to pass the exam .The course curriculum itslef is relevant and designed to equip us with the necessary skills and knowledge for our future careers

IIT Ropar: 5 Answered Questions

Who are some of the best professors at IIT Ropar?

Reema KhandelwalStudied at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (2016)

As some of my friends studied at IIT Ropar, and also after reading some reviews online, I can say that the best professor is Dr. Dhiraj K. Mahajan.

He values knowledge above marks and he takes his own open time exam for students to understand their potential.

He has guided 5-6 students personally for a year and with his efforts. He helped students in securing a job opportunity in Germany for international exposure.

Apart from him, here are some of the other good professors - Dr. Narayanan C. Krishnan, Dr. Nitin Auluck, Dr. Balwinder Sodhi, Dr. Deepti Bathula, Dr. Apoorva Mudgal, Dr. Yashveer Singh, and Dr. M. Prabhakar.

How good are the professors at IIT Ropar?

Deepesh KhannaStudied B.Tech CSE from Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (2023)

The faculty at IIT Ropar is great. The majority of the professors hold a Ph.D. degree. They are cooperative and provide proper guidance in projects as well as examination preparations.

The lectures are enough for understanding the courses and you would not even need to take help from tuitions. Professors explain the topics in an easier way so that you can easily grasp their subject matter.

However, when it comes to attendance, you are required to maintain a 75% attendance. The professors are not lenient if the students miss the classes. The same goes with the assignments and presentations which need to meet the deadline. Delaying your submissions would only bring you in a tough position.

How do I become an assistant professor at IIT Ropar?

Prashant GuptaStudied at Indian Institute of Technology,Delhi (2016)

To become an assistant professor at IIT Ropar you must first obtain a PhD. This is the minimum eligibility criteria for any IIT to apply for the post of assistant professor.

Then you will have to compete with many other candidates and to stay above the competition you will need to have an outstanding academic career throughout.

You will also need to have various published papers in many international and reputed journals. This will give you an edge over others.

This is a suggestion beyond the scope of this question. But if you can start low in a company and struggle for 2-3 years, I believe that you can land a more lucrative and satisfying job later on. Doing an M.Tech and then a Ph.D. will take a very long time.
