From third year we can sit in our placement cell. The placement of our college is preemtty good. The average package overall is about 20 to 25 lakhs per anum and about 32 lakhs for cs branch. Almost 80 to 90 percent of students get placed in cs branch. Highest package this year is about 58 lakhs( domestic ).

From the third semester students become eligible for the placement like internships and main placements start at fourth year. companies like Wipro, HCl , Zomato, swiggy, Google, etc many companies visit our college and many offer have been made to the students. In the last year the highest package was 86 lakhs offered and average package over all branches was 22 lakhs per annum.and the last year almost 76 Percent of the applied students have got placed and my plans after getting the degree is to do a good job in a very big mnc

I am sharing the collective experiences of those who have witnessed IIT Ropar placements over the last few years. IIT Ropar, like any other institute, offers internship opportunities on the basis of your CGPA score but for placements, CGPA is just a cut-off criterion. Candidates are evaluated on a number of parameters by the companies that visit for placements. Some of them are

Analytical Abilities
Practical skills acquired
Behavior and attitude

Moreover, IT giants like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Paypal give the least preference to your CGPA. I asked my friends what they learn from their interview experiences and these are the inferences

"Positive Behavior and Attitude" is very important.
Before appearing for an interview with your dream company always give lots of mock interviews or interviews in companies you are least interested
Adopt a ‘Come what may" preparation in your core area and you will procure the maximum benefits.
Apart from preparing technically, it's very important to work on your communication skills.

The placements at IIT Ropar are good for some while it can be disappointing for others. They cannot fulfill every student’s aspirations. Some want to do corporate jobs while others want to apply for government fields.

CSE and IT students are more inclined towards corporate firms.
As there is a huge demand for working individuals in the corporate industry, even EE, ME students opt for it.
To get a job in this industry, you need a 7 or more CGPA.
You should also have great coding skills and problem-solving abilities.
Try acquiring an internship followed by a PPO. Your projects will also be taken into consideration.
But if you are interested in being a software engineer, you can opt for job roles like Business Analyst, Product Manager/Analyst, Data Science, Algorithmic Trading (Quant), and so on.
For these roles, you will require Case studies, aptitude, good communication skills, and knowledge of a programming language such as Python or SQL.
The only issue is that many companies do not visit the college for these positions because students lack the necessary skill set.

Facilities: Recently, it has shifted to the new permanent campus in Rupnagar. There are four hostels in IIT Ropar. Three are for boys, and one is for girls. The total capacity is 380 students. The best part is that it is one hour drive from the city, Chandigarh. So, you can have weekend fun traveling to nearby cities like Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and more.
Placement: The highest package offered in 2021 is 18 LPA while the average package is 12 LPA
