IIT Ropar Begins Applications for MS in Data Science for Batch 2026; Apply till December 5

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has started the admission process for its MS in Data Science (January 2026 session). The programme is offered through the School of Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering (SAI&DE) in collaboration with IIT Madras, and is open only to students from the BS programme at IIT Madras.

Candidates must complete the online application form and pay the required fee before the deadline. Further shortlisting, test, and interview details will be shared by the institute.

IIT Ropar is offering a 1-year MS programme in Data Science designed with a project-based learning structure spread across two semesters. Students will complete 40 credits, aligned with the National Credit Framework (NCrF). The programme focuses on hands-on learning, advanced data science concepts, and industry-oriented research exposure.

IIT Ropar MS Data Science 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The programme is exclusively for IIT Madras BS students who have successfully completed the BS level with a minimum CGPA of 8.0. These applicants do not need to appear for GATE. Reservations apply as per Government of India norms, including SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD categories.

IIT Ropar will first screen applications based on eligibility and seat availability. Shortlisted students will be called for a written test and/or interview, and admission will depend on the performance in these evaluations. The institute will share test and interview schedules through email. All shortlisted candidates must carry their original documents for verification.

Seat Matrix for MS Data Science 2026

The application fee for IIT Ropar MS Data Science 2026 must be paid through SBI SB Collect. Candidates from the GEN, OBC-NCL, and EWS categories are required to pay ₹200, while those belonging to SC, ST, PwD, and Female categories must pay ₹100. The institute has clearly stated that the fee is non-refundable, and applications submitted without the payment details will not be accepted.

Fees may increase by at least 5% from AY 2026–27.
