Campus Life

My overall campus life experience at Delhi Technological University has been very active and socially engaging because of the strong culture of student societies, events, and campus facilities. One of the biggest highlights of campus life is the annual festivals organized by the university. The main cultural festival is Engifest, which is usually held in Februaryand is one of the largest college cultural fests in India, featuring concerts, competitions, and performances by well-known artists. The university also hosts Invictus, the annual technical festival, where students participate in hackathons, robotics competitions, workshops, and innovation challenges.Apart from these, there are other events such as E-Summit organized by the entrepreneurship cell and Yuvaan Literature & Film Festival, which further enrich the cultural and academic environment. The central library provides access to a wide collection of textbooks, reference materials, journals, and digital databases, which students use for coursework, research, and projects. Classrooms are generally equipped with projectors and basic digital teaching tools, enabling faculty to use presentations and visual aids during lectures. The campus also offers several sports facilities, including grounds and courts for football, cricket, basketball, badminton, athletics, and indoor games, along with events such as the annual sports meet and other inter-college competitions. Student life is also strongly shaped by student-run societies and clubs such as the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, robotics societies, dramatics society Pratibimb, cultural and debating societies, and technical clubs that regularly organize workshops, competitions, and collaborative projects. These groups play a major role in building teamwork, leadership skills, and social connections among students. Overall, the combination of large festivals, active clubs, good library resources, and sports opportunities creates a vibrant campus atmosphere w

Course Curriculum Overview

I would rate the course curriculum as **fairly comprehensive and reasonably relevant**, especially in terms of building a strong foundation in core engineering concepts. One of the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course was the **structured curriculum covering important fundamentals such as programming, data structures, mathematics, and core engineering subjects**, which are essential for both technical roles and higher studies. The curriculum provides a solid theoretical base and helps develop analytical thinking, but for real-world applications students often need to complement it with **projects, internships, coding practice, and self-learning**, since some topics are still taught in a more traditional or theoretical way. In terms of improvements, the curriculum could benefit from **more industry-oriented electives, practical assignments, updated lab work, and interactive teaching methods such as case studies or project-based learning**. The exam system typically includes **two major exams per semester — a mid-semester exam and an end-semester exam — along with internal assessments, quizzes, and assignments**. The exams are generally **moderate in difficulty**, and students who attend classes and prepare consistently are able to perform well, though the evaluation tends to focus more on conceptual understanding and written exams rather than purely practical skills.

Fees and Financial Aid

1. Means for tution fees it's 1.01 lakhs per year and 66% off if income is in between 1-5 lakhs per year and 100% off if income is less than 1 lakhs per year. 2. Various scholarships are open and student can freely opt for scholarship and I have seen multiple collegues who are opting from 30k to 60k per year worth of cash scholarships 3. Fees for foreign nationals are much more around 3x of ours, visit iit mandi website 4. There is not too many charges with it, there is only tution fees per year along with hostel and mess fees per year and one time of 20k roughly for all kind of security and admission fess in start only.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is 1:11-12, most of profs in electrical+CSE+DSE. Various facultty members, one of them in Prof. Gajendra as he takes a course called Design Practium where we build real world products applicable to startups, research and so. Most of the faculty are good, but a little are annoying who wants to do works in their way only. Less than 0.5% student fails exam, exams are structured like midsem, endsem, some times mini quizes

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is decent and most classes do not feel crowded. The batch size of each course is around 30-40 which is amazingly very less as compared to other private colleges. Most teachers are usually easy to approach and they answer doubts after class also except few which are very strict and also have zero knowledge about their subjects. The teachers I liked the most till now were richa mam who was our MATHS teacher and amitesh sir who was our DSA teacher because they used simple examples while teaching and they never ignored doubts, apart from that they give very friendly vibes. I used to even share my personal problem with them. Some other teachers like dinesh sir and deepika mam were also good because they give attendance easily. Never shows any attidude towards any student. But yeah were a few teachers I did not like much although I can't mention their names but yeah because their way of teaching was very fast and it was hard to understand the topics, apart from that some of them had no knowledge of their subjects. The course structure is divided into three classes theory classes, labs and tutorials. Every semester has internal tests, quizzes and then the final exam. There are usually two internal exams which are T1 and T2 and one final exam. The marking scheme includes internals, attendance and practical marks. The papers are not very hard but if you do not study regularly then it becomes difficult near the end. A small number of students fail but most pass if they attend classes as the exams are not that hard really. The curriculum is mostly relevant but some subjects like evs, uhv feel old and not very useful for placements.

Campus Life

My overall campus life experience has been decent. The social side is not very outgoing but you can still make friends if you talk to people in your class or hostel. There are a few clubs here and they organise small events. The crowd is mixed so you get to meet different kinds of students. The college has two main fests. The annual fest is around February which happen in both campuses 62 and 128 and the name changes every year. Other fest is the ethnic night which happens befor diwali at the end of Navratri. The library has a good number of books and basic journals. You can find study material for almost all subjects from placement related to government exams related. There are also computers where you can access online journals. The classrooms have projectors and screens and most rooms have working fans and lights. Some rooms have smart boards but not all work perfectly. The only bad thing about campus is it's ground. There's only 1 ground available which is not that big but every sports from cricket to badminton is played there only. But indoor games are available like table tennis and a room for playing squash is also available. Students can join different clubs like coding club, cultural club, music club, dance club and a few student run groups. These clubs help students learn new things and most importantly making new friends which is the most important thing.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum at NIT Jalandhar is highly relevant and comprehensive offering a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure. The inclusion of updated core and elective subjects, programming labs and industry oriented projects influenced my decision to join .The curriculum equips students well for real world applications internships and further studies with a strong focus on current technologies and skills in demand. Exams are held mid semester and end semester each term with regular assignments contributing to evaluation they are moderately challenging if you keep up with the coursework. Areas for improvement include introducing more industry linked workshops, practical case studies and soft skills training. Enhanced use of interactive teaching methods and greater flexibility in Electives would make the programme even more elective for students career goals overall the curriculum is both rigorous and adaptable to current industry needs preparing students for a wider range of professional paths .

Fees and Financial Aid

the btech fee structure for the batch 2024-2028 has some one time charges in the first semester such as registration, development, enrollment, alumni, MIS and also 10000 refundable caution money. The main tuition fee is 32500 in every semester, along with other regular charges like IT infrastructure, library, professional development, maintainence, resources, placement, and exam fees. some extra costs like workshops, internships and certificate fees are added in specific semestes. overall the total fees is about 163700 for first year, 125600 for second year, 124100 in third year and 126600 in final year making a total of 540000 for the four year program regardless of any category, also for the batch 2025-2029 has increased as all the regular charges went up overall the total fees is about 186200 for first year, 146100 for second year and third year and 147600 in final year making a total of 626000 for the four year program which is also regardless of any category, also scholarships like mptaas and mmvy are available. mptaas is based on caste system which gets you 154000 for sc/st, and 30000 for obc and none for general, but mmvy is based on score, the criteria is above 85% in 12th for cbse and above 75% for mpboard it does not have caste system but this is only given to those whose yearly income is less than 6 lakh for general and 8 lakh for sc/st it can give up to 150000 per year to every category regardless of any caste.

Faculty

the faculties are way less with respect to the students they always need teachers from other departments to fulfill it, some of the most remarkable faculties i know are jk muthele sir, minakshi dahiya mam, charu goyal mam, monica bhadoriya mam and atul kumar ray sir they actually understand the problem of students and support them. the teacher's i do not like are devanshu tiwari mam becausw she is a bit partial, and the rest of them are pretty decent. there are two midsems aka minors inn every semester of 20 marks each and the final exam aka major are of 30 marks and mostly come in mcq mode like jee main only maths come in pen paper the minors are pen and paper as well and the rest 30 are scored from quizzes in class. the system is specifically designed to make sure students don't fail and they do rarely fail unless they did not attend the exams.

Faculty to student ratio is so good because of one to one doubts clear and better interaction between faculty and students. According to the mathematics and computing department the best faculties are Dr minakshi dahiya mam , Dr . Divya Chaturvedi mam , Dr. Dk mishra sir according to me these are the best faculties. As such faculties all are good . 2 minors exams / mid sem exam and final one major exam/final sem exam . As such most of the students didn't fail in the exam because all the faculties try to our side all the students are passed .

Most of the Faculty here are experienced and good on their domain...faculty to student relation is cordial and supportive ,student to faculty ratio is also very good like its around 1:15 so better personalised attention students are getting here now if talk about the curriculum its quite comprehensive and outdated in some parts and the subject has moderate difficulty mostly students are able to clear alll subjects but around 10 to 15 percent students here struggle to pass subject in first attempt , exam system is also good we have a mid semester examination and a end semester examination per semester

Course Curriculum Overview

I would rate course curiculum to be moderately dificult and partly comprehensive and level of relevancy is also moderate kind .the factor that made me chose this course were; 1 This course offers a blend of theory and practical components including lab session project and internships it include subject like machine leaning data structures and algorithms etc so yea relevancy exists at a moderate difficulty .. Also this support placement support and tie-up with companies so overall good course curiculum

Mathematics department faculty is really very good. They are supportive and helpful. As far as exams are concerned, end sem,mid sem with some quizzes are held to check if student is understanding properly or not. As far as grading is concerned, that is a issue. Very less students recieve A or A- , they award max student a B or B- unless you do exceptionally well which affects the cgpa.

Campus Life

Campus life is good. Very less restriction are there on students, they can roam around any time in the campus.libraruly is open for 24 hours,I will say only limited books are available in livbrary for issuing , it's on first come first basis,so you have to be very vigilent. Otherwise campus is goods there are enough food stalls, maggie points etc

The faculty or the professors in the college are well qualified and excellent reasearcher in there respective fields... Hence there is no doubt that We are taught by some underrated teacher /faculty.. then comes students to professors ratio... It's really bad. Around 1:60... In some course it's around 1:250.. you can imagine that there is very less interactions between the students and professors...My favourite faculty till now is Sir vivek Mukundan .he is assistant professor in department of mathematics.. he taught me MTL100(1st semester course).. Most of the course at iit delhi have a similar pattern of exams that include --- 1 major , 1 minor , 2-3 quizess, viva etc... These exam also depend on course to course.. like in lab course there viva on each week and there less written exams for the.. One lab course is PYP100(Physics Laboratory)... Most of the students tend to pass the exam .. if a student fail it is due the fact that he has missed almost every class or something like that. But overall the course curriculum is very organised and well maintained

Campus Life

There various types and number of vest held at iit delhi ... First let's start with Rendezvous.its is the cultural fest held around diwali... Where did starts come in the campus to perform at OAT(open air theatre).. as various events, cars ,games and fun occurs during this time... It's really good... Library of iit delhi is the home to enormous number of books,genrals,articles.. that are free to read for all iit delhi students... These book include all genre including psychology, biology, philosophy, science ,maths etc... There are several clubs run by the student council ---BSW,BSA,FACC etc(painting, dancing, students welfare, sports... All is managed by student council... Overall the campus life is really excellent and enjoyable to experience....

Ques. Which Amrita branch is better for CSE, Amritapuri or Coimbatore?

● Top Answer By Rupal Bhatt on 04 May 26

Ans. Amrita CSE — Amritapuri (Kerala) vs Coimbatore — a question many Amrita applicants struggle with. Here's the honest comparison. Amrita Coimbatore (main campus, Tamil Nadu): Largest campus, best placement infrastructure. Placement rate CSE: ~78-82%. Average CSE CTC: ~8-10 LPA (2024). Top: ?25-35 LPA. Strong in software companies + semiconductor firms (Qualcomm, TI). Better alumni network in Chennai/Bangalore tech ecosystem. Research: Strong DST/ISRO funded research groups. Amrita Amritapuri (Kollam, Kerala): Smaller campus, more focused environment. Placement rate: ~70-75%. Average CSE CTC: ~6-8 LPA. Strong in specific niches: Cybersecurity research (Amrita has a well-known cybersecurity lab here), AI research. Campus culture: More serene, spiritually-oriented (main campus of the ashram). Fewer large IT companies visit compared to Coimbatore. Verdict for CSE specifically: For placement quantity and quality: Coimbatore > Amritapuri — not even close. For research in Cybersecurity/AI: Amritapuri has niche excellence. For campus experience: Both good, Amritapuri more tranquil. If you're choosing purely for career outcomes: Go to Coimbatore. If you have a specific research interest in cybersecurity and are interested in the research culture: Amritapuri is genuinely excellent for that specific path.Read more

Ques. Which should my daughter choose, a CSE from IGDTUW or a ECE from NSIT/DTU/IIIT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Kavita Yadav on 04 May 26

Ans. this is actually a really good question and the answer depends on what career path your daughter is aiming for. CSE at IGDTUW — it's an all-women's government university in Delhi, excellent campus environment for women students, strong alumni network in Delhi tech companies, government college fees (very affordable), and CSE is the best branch to be in for software careers. the women-only campus is a genuine advantage in terms of safety and focused academic culture. ECE at NSIT/DTU/IIIT Delhi — all three are mixed-gender, more prestigious institutions. IIIT Delhi ECE specifically is excellent for tech — the institute has a strong coding culture and ECE students regularly get SWE roles. DTU and NSUT ECE are decent but the branch doesn't give the same software career advantage as CSE. honest recommendation: if she wants a software/tech career — CSE at IGDTUW is probably better than ECE at DTU/NSUT. branch matters more than college here if the option is ECE at IIIT Delhi specifically — that's a tough call, IIIT Delhi is genuinely strong and ECE students do well in placements there for family comfort and safety — IGDTUW being all-women and govt-managed is a significant factor for many familiesRead more

Ques. What is the difference between COE and CSE at Thapar University?

● Top Answer By Vivek Sharma on 03 May 26

Ans. COE vs CSE at Thapar — this is a question that really matters for career outcomes at Thapar, and most answers are vague. Here's the concrete difference. CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) at Thapar: Standard software/CS curriculum: Programming, DSA, OS, DBMS, Networks, AI/ML electives. Placement: High demand from IT companies. ~92-95% placement rate. Average ~12-14 LPA for CSE specifically at Thapar. Industry perception: Strong for software development, SDE roles. COE (Computer Engineering) at Thapar: More hardware-software overlap: Includes digital circuits, microprocessors, embedded systems, VLSI alongside software CS subjects. In practice: Very similar to CSE at the coursework level — 70-80% overlap. Industry perception: Essentially treated the same as CSE by most IT recruiters. Companies don't distinguish significantly between CSE and COE for SDE roles. Placement: Similar to CSE — both strong. COE slightly lower avg (10-12 LPA) in some years due to lower volume of hardware-specific companies visiting. Key takeaway: For software career: CSE = COE in outcome. Don't stress the difference. For hardware/embedded/VLSI: COE provides slightly better foundation. If CSE cutoff is too high and you can get COE: Take COE without worry. Career paths and recruiter access are nearly identical. Thapar's course registration system also lets COE students take CS electives freely — further reducing any difference in practice.Read more

Ques. Which is better, CSE or CSAI in IIIT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Rhea Kapoor on 01 May 26

Ans. IIIT Delhi has both CSE and CSAI (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence). here's what's actually different: CSE: core computer science curriculum — algorithms, OS, databases, networks, systems. the broadest CS program. placements ~96-97%. admission purely via JEE Main/JAC Delhi rank. CSAI (CS + AI): focuses on AI, ML, deep learning, data science alongside core CS fundamentals curriculum has more math (linear algebra, probability, optimization) and AI-specific courses same JEE Main admission route placements comparable to CSE (~95%+) slightly newer program, hence somewhat less proven alumni network than CSE which is better? honestly for most software career paths, both are equivalent. companies recruiting at IIIT Delhi don't strongly distinguish between CSE and CSAI at the interview stage. but: if you want to go into AI/ML research or product roles specifically — CSAI is a better fit because the curriculum is more focused if you want general software engineering flexibility — CSE keeps all doors open CSAI's heavy math requirement means it's tougher if math isn't your strength both are excellent. if you're genuinely into AI/ML, CSAI is a meaningful differentiator. if you're undecided about specialization, CSE is safer.Read more

Ques. What is difference between CSE and csd coures at IIIT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Krishna Mishra on 30 Apr 26

Ans. CSE and CSD at IIIT Delhi are more different than most people think — they're not just the same course with a design elective thrown in. CSE (Computer Science and Engineering): pure CS program, admission purely through JEE Main/JAC Delhi rank. standard 4-year B.Tech. CSD (Computer Science and Design): it's a hybrid program integrating CS with Design/HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) — visual design, UX, multimedia, graphics alongside core CS admission is different from CSE — uses both JEE rank AND class 12 percentage in criteria. this allows some students who scored well in 12th but couldn't get a high enough JEE rank to access IIIT Delhi from 3rd year, CSD students do extra design projects every semester on top of regular coursework — the workload is higher placements are similar to CSE (~95%+), slightly lower avg package historically but improving key thing most answers get wrong — CSD is NOT a dual degree in the traditional sense. it's a 4-year B.Tech in CSD, not CSE + MS. the degrees awarded are different. verdict: if you want pure software career — CSE is simpler and cleaner. if you're genuinely interested in design + tech (UX, product design, graphics) — CSD is genuinely unique and worth it. don't take CSD just to get into IIIT Delhi if you hate design.Read more

Ques. What will be the fees for a management quota in either MIT Pune or VIT Pune for B.Tech in CSE?

● Top Answer By Manoj Sinha on 30 Apr 26

Ans. Management quota fees for MIT Pune and VIT Pune BTech CSE — these are among the most-searched admission questions in Maharashtra, and the numbers change each year. Here's the current picture. MIT Pune (Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Kothrud): Management quota tuition: approximately ?2.2-2.5 lakhs/year (vs. state merit quota ~?1.5-1.8L/year). Unofficial donation/capitation (informal reports): ?5-10 lakhs for CSE management quota — NOT officially acknowledged or receipted. Total 4-year cost (official fees only): ~?9-11 lakhs tuition + ?4-6L hostel = ~?15-17L. VIT Pune (Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Bibwewadi): Management quota tuition: approximately ?1.8-2.2 lakhs/year (slightly lower than MIT Pune). Similar informal reports of unofficial donations for CSE — unverifiable officially. Total 4-year: ~?8-10 lakhs tuition + hostel. How to avoid capitation entirely: Apply through DTE Maharashtra's CAP (Centralized Admission Process) . Even management quota seats are increasingly being filled via CAP in recent years. JEE Main score + 12th board marks both considered in CAP — a decent JEE score can get you these colleges without any unofficial payment. Both colleges are good (NAAC A+), but for pure placement: MIT Pune has slightly stronger brand in Pune's engineering ecosystem. VIT Pune is comparable. Verify latest fees at dte.maharashtra.gov.in.Read more

Ques. My JEE main rank is 10000. Can I get computer science in NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Meenal Agarwal on 29 Apr 26

Ans. JEE Main rank 10000 for NIT Trichy CSE — this is a very asked question. let's be specific: NIT Trichy CSE is one of the most competitive programs at any NIT. recent closing ranks (JoSAA counseling): Home State Tamil Nadu (HS quota): CSE closes around rank 1,500-2,500. at rank 10,000 even HS quota won't get you CSE Outside State (OS quota): CSE closes around rank 500-1,000. rank 10,000 is way beyond this so ngl bro, rank 10,000 cannot get you CSE at NIT Trichy through JoSAA. it's one of the most competitive CSE programs in the NIT system. what you CAN get at NIT Trichy with rank 10,000: Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgy, Civil (HS quota). Mech might be borderline. better strategy: at rank 10,000 you should target CSE at NIT Warangal (HS quota Telangana only), or CSE/ECE at NIT Rourkela, MNIT Jaipur, MNNIT Allahabad, NIT Calicut (non-core branches). check josaa.admissions.nic.in for current year cutoffs.Read more

Ques. How does CS at IIIT Hyderabad compare to BITS Pilani?

● Top Answer By Ajay Rathi on 28 Apr 26

Ans. this is one of India's best CS comparisons. both are excellent but quite different in character: IIIT Hyderabad CSE: research powerhouse. one of the best research environments in India for CS — NLP, AI, Vision, Speech research groups are world-class dual degree (BTech + MS) is very popular and opens strong PhD paths abroad admission via UGEE (their own exam) + JEE Main score. Hyderabad city location placements: avg ~Rs.25-35 LPA. top packages from Google, Microsoft, FAANG-level. strong for research-oriented careers small batch, high peer quality, intense academics BITS Pilani CSE: industry-focused academic freedom. zero attendance, you manage your own time Practice School internship at Google, DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs etc. — massive differentiator for industry careers admission via BITSAT only (not JEE) placements: avg ~Rs.25-30 LPA. similar range to IIIT-H but more industry-facing legendary campus culture, Oasis/Apogee fests, strong alumni network which is better? if you want research, PhD abroad, or academic career — IIIT Hyderabad is the better choice. if you want industry, startup exposure, or flexibility — BITS Pilani's practical approach is superior. both are genuinely elite for CS in India.Read more
