Placement and alumini: the institute has an immense alumini network along with the placement cell which attracts the top high paying companies ensuring good job opportunities for the students.it also enables research and further studies.
I appreciate nitc's commitment to academic excellence, with a strong faculty and diverse range of courses that provide a well-rounded education.
I like the cultural fests like festivals being celebrated here which is very nice .

Dislikes

In nit calicut gym was not free we want pay for it this thing i really hatred
Fees are very high when we compared to other nits nit calicut collecting more fees which becoming heavy burden to poor students like me they don't even giving concession most of the people are not getting scholarships
Our hostels are too old and actually it is alloted for 3 people but they are keeping 4 people in a room wash rooms are also not so good.

Pros and cons of NIT CALICUT

Likes

The faculties are very good.Quality teaching. Classes are amazing.
Facilities are amazing both in college and hostel.
Only two person per room in my hostel. Free Wifi also available.

Dislikes

Wifi is slow sometimes. Hostel rooms are not cleaned by staff.
If cleaning required we need to request.
Leave taking procedure is very long.curfew for 1st years at 8:30 pm

Placement Experience:

Qualcomm, ibs,Infosys etc visits. Highest package was 55 lakhs. Average package is 20 lakhs. Nearly 100 % placement in computer science engineering. After degree joining get a job through campus placement.

The campus is very effective and efficient. the overall average package is 16 lakh which is top for a college. For chemical engineering the top package is 25 lakh and average package is 10 lakh. Th high companies will come for placement

Read this before joining NIT Calicut

Likes

Free atmosphere, as an government college the restrictions are very less, unless you are in first year.
Pretty good hostel facility as they respond pretty quick for complaint.
Great faculty and professional lecturers

Dislikes

Food is pretty bad unless you are already accustomed to Kerala food.
Subjects are pretty challenging as you further in courses.
Weather is quite unpredictable as it may rain anytime

Course Curriculum Overview:

There is a degree of relevance as you get to more deeper topics but the initial teaching are pretty outdated and are most likely not used in current job environment. There are only two exams- mid and end semester ones.

A sneak peak to NIT CALICUT

Likes

experienced faculty with so much knowledge in thier field
big library and many messes , quality of food
good quality of labs and funding is given to anyone with a good startup idea

Dislikes

there are only 4 busses in the campus which is less as the campus is very vast
the central library is bit far and closes at 12 midnight
the gender ratio of the college is not so (3:1)

Placement Experience:

the placements in nit calicut is one of the best in india according to previous years placements stats the number of students placed were close to 1100 which is a big number ,considering that previous year was time of layoff and recession

Placement Experience:

MY COLLEGE HAS A PLACEMENT RECORD OF 84% LAST YEAR FROM WHICH MEDIAN WAS 10LPA , AVERAGE WAS 14.3LPA AND HIGHEST WAS AROUND 47 LPA. FROM MY DEPARTMENT OUT OF 128 STUDENTS 120 GOT PLACED WITH MINIMUM PACKAGE OF 5LPA , AVG PACKAGE OF 14.7 LPA AND HIGHEST PACKAGE OF 38 LPA. FOR PARTICIPATING IN PLACEMENT A STUDENT MUST HAVE CGPA>=6.5.

the campus has an huge area with many trees
most of the buildings in the campus are open 24/7
there is way array of people to meet and greet

Dislikes

some language barriers with outsiders and local vendors
the distance from main city is too far it is an 40 mins drive

Course Curriculum Overview:

We had only 4 theory classes per day at the max, the curriculum is such a way that it focuses us to be book maggots, and we do get field assignments and research assignments. As per exams, we have mid-term and end-term along with a few class tests.

NIT CALICUT LOVE OF KERALA

Good cultural exchange with wide variety of friends from whole india and other places .
Different clubs both technical and cultural.whixh provide students to explore their talent afterwards
2 famous fest Technical TATWA and Cultural RAGAM is biggest fest all over india.

Dislikes

Summer internship is less for core branches like mechanical, civil and other. But they will provide more opportunities for EC and CSE branches.
Discrimination in talent based on branch of engineering especially in software side.
Admistration is really strict sometimes which wont listen to students problem sometimes.

Placement Experience:

NIT calicut is one of the top NITs of india providing a very good placement. There are more than 300 + companies vist our campus for placement every year and provide us a average annual package or 15lkh . Some of the companies are Goldman sacks, salesforce,dshaw,amazon,caterpillar etc

NIT Cailcut-The Good,Bad and the Ugly

Strong College Reputation: It has one of the most high standards of reputation amongst engineering colleges and has a top NIRF ranking.The college has a great set of faculty for all the branches who are experienced and highly qualified.
Many Courses offered: NIT Calicut offers 15 different courses inclusive UG,PG and doctorate programs.All these programs have the best faculty and best infrastructure with well equipped labs and libraries.
Beautiful Campus: NIT Calicut has one of the most beautiful campus that one has seen.It's lush green environment along with the scenic beauty of the campus, specially in the monsoon is treat to the students giving them a conductive atmosphere.

Dislikes

Cultural Adjustment: NIT Calicut ,just like other NITs has 50% home state reservation making it quite difficult for students to interact as most Malayalam students don't understand hindi and some even tend to look down upon other state students.
Hostels and Infrastructure: NIT Calicut has one of the best hostel amongst all colleges,the MEGA HOSTEL.However it is only for a specific year of students and not given to all.The other hostels are in bad shape with not maintained washrooms.
Climate and Connectivity: The city of Calicut despite its beauty is far from the major cities and thus to get there you might have to change a few trains and flights having no direct commute.Also the intense rain can be unpleasant sometimes.

Placement Experience:

Students can apply for campus placements by the beginning of the 4th year.High paying companies are attracted by the placement cell which offer good packages to the students. The average packages for the circuital branch are pretty high. Each year about 200 companies are invited. The highest package for Electrical and Electronics has gone upto 38LPA with average package of about 14LPA in the graduation year 2024.About 128 students had registered out of which 120 students were placed.The minimum salary offered was 5LPA.

NITC - Just my experience

Likes

Good place to get an MBA degree without much of tight schedules and stress
Support from faculties are so good. Helps in personal as well as professional life

Dislikes

Infrastructure is okay, but needs to be better
Top level management does not consider the feelings of the students.
Course plans are a bit outdated. Needs to be updated using current trends in the market

Placement Experience:

Placement starts from 4th semester. Highest placement was 16 Lacs from k12 technologies. Many banks like Federal Bank, South Indian Bank, Axis Bank came for placement. Corporates like Deloitte and Reliance retail was also there.

Have a good course curriculum that will take us to a level where we think we should learn more and we will be ready to seek knowledge to learn more and more about the topics. They won't spoon-feed us just give us a base. The syllabus is completed on time.

My sister completed her B.Tech from NIT Calicut a few years back. As a female student, she had a bitter experience at this college. Here are some of the things that she noticed during her stay at NIT Calicut-

The girls hostel is very strict regarding outings. There is a fixed curfew from 7 pm to 6 am. Even for staying on campus after 7 pm, special permission is required.
There are instances where you might encounter racism in the most casual manner, this is especially true for North Indian students.
The hostel and college staff are blatantly partial towards female students and those who complain are told to leave the college.
There is a system of daily roll call for female hostellers, which is again a gender-biased rule. The Resident Tutors are not supportive or helpful and may scold you for not attending the roll call even if you are new and not well aware of the hostel procedures.
During LAN work or other repairs, no female attendee is present with the male workers within the girls hostel premises. The girls are expected to follow all the precautionary measures and no strict rules are laid for the male workers.

NIT Calicut is an institute of national importance with an excellent reputation and great placement records. However, as a female hosteller, my sister faced these obstacles which caused unnecessary frustration for her.
