Is NIT Calicut good in ranking?

This is with respect to the NIRF Engineering Rankings 2023. NIT Calicut is ranked 23rd among the top 100 Engineering Colleges in India and 5th among the NITs. But keeping the rankings aside, NIT Calicut needs major administrative reforms. Its infrastructure is not up to the mark. Some hostels have poor facilities and accommodation problems. All the departments have a shortage of permanent faculties and manage with Ad hoc faculties.There are no fresh appointments for permanent teachers. Only B.Tech CSE, ECE and EEE have good placements. PG and B.Tech core branches suffer from very low placement rates. Thus, NIT Calicut needs some major reforms in spite of its high rankings.

NIT Calicut Ranking 2023: NIRF, Business Today (BT)

National Institute of Technology, Calicut is one of the prominent Institute of Technology and Engineering in India. Recently, NIT Calicut has been ranked at the 23rd position among the top Engineering Colleges in India in the NIRF Engineering Rankings 2023. Also the Department of Architecture of NIT Calicut is ranked 2nd among all Architectural colleges by the NIRF in 2023. Analyzing the previous year NIRF Rankings of NIT Calicut, it can be depicted that the institute is continuously giving a better performance in its rankings and this is a positive sign for students considering this college as it has the potential to have a great ranking in the coming years.

NIT Calicut School of Management Studies has been ranked 66th in Top B-Schools by Business Today (BT) 2023. by Apart from this, NIT Calicut has been ranked by several other prestigious ranking agencies of India in the category of Top Govt. Engineering Colleges and Technical Universities. These ranking agencies include Outlook-ICARE, India Today, THE WEEK-HANSA etc.

Strong academic reputation: Nitc is known for its rigouros curriculum and highly qualified faculty
Placements and internships: the placement cell in the nitc is quite active with major company in tech

Dislikes

Gender imbalance: The male to female ratio at nitc remains sweked with about 80 to 85 percent male 15 to 20 percent female students
Weather and location : the climate can be challenging for some, especially humidity and rainfall conditions

Internships Opportunities:

Microsoft, goldman Sachs, TCS, intel ,amazon, etc. A pilot tested algorithm that reduces average delivery time by 10% and cuts fuel cost for 8%, include implementation documentation and analytics reports. These internships not only offer stipends but also provide hands on impactful project experience that directly contribute to the company

Before you come to NIT Calicut

For ece dept labs , faculty and other facilities are really nice .
Technical fest tathva and cultural fest ragam are completely student run which gives students enough exposure

Average placements and below average internship stats comparing other national institutes
Very average sports facilities . Not functional swimming pool

Very less internship opportunities. Interships are offered to very less number students . Oracle gives pretty good interships and ppo. The situation is expected to change soon .ig bad coding culture is a reason for this

Placement Experience:

The campus placements are for the students of sem 6-8 which they can get placed to high money offering companies based on the students skills. The placements are pretty good in the college and i'm planning to get into IT sector.

College experience I have gained

Hostel facility I liked so much cause it is near to main building where classes happen
College infrastructure is very good and excellent to stay and move around

College main ground is very far away to go and play everyday
Ground inside the college is very small to play games for many people

Many companies visit for offering internships but the students should have the interest to take them many of them have gone for internships every years big companies and small companies come for the internship

Hello Nitc

I having the best memories in this college. I had fun with every festival,fest and club activities. Expecially at the time of onam we had great fun. There are 2 fest in the college . Ragam cultural fest and Tathva technical fest.
Education is properly taught by the skilled professors and lectures. Digital classrooms are provied. Digital and non Digital library are provided. Big computer center also there. Doubts are clarified in the class it self .

I dont have much dislikes about the college but sometimes its very long to walk to the classes from hostels.

Now we are having internship drive in the college . Compines like texas amazon etc will conduct internship opportunity in the college . College maintain particular group about the timing of attending the internship.

LIFE IN NIT CALICUT

Campus have good infra structure. 300 acres huge campus. Full of greenery and good views also.
We have the south indias largest cultural fest ragam and tecnical fest thathva.

In architecture they give intership in kerala amd also out side kerala. Interships are good and big companies in india. And students got internships. In architecture they give interships in 4th year. Samsung, lg, kerala govt. Platforms also give internships.

Academic and Campus life in NIT Calicut

The campus life with technical fests and various sports activities available there
Message facilities and various types of food available which is delicious and cheap

The academic life is little hectic for the students and some class rooms lack proper facilities
The hostel for the first year is really old and the rooms lack proper wardrobe facilities

The campus placements here is pretty decent , with an average of 15 lpa and for courses like eee ece and cse it would be higher with many tech companies mainly coming for the placements percentage of students places is really high

Pros and cons of NIT CALICUT

The faculties are very good.Quality teaching. Classes are amazing.
Facilities are amazing both in college and hostel.

Wifi is slow sometimes. Hostel rooms are not cleaned by staff.
If cleaning required we need to request.

Internships are available from 3rd year onwards. Entire 4th year can be dedicated fir Internships. Internship opportunities are mainly based on cgpa. Google,oracle,Qualcomm etc offer internships at nit calicut.

SINCE THE CAMPUS IS VERY BIG U WILL HAVE TO WALK 10 MINS TO GO TO CLASS. BUT U CAN TAKE THE CAMPUS BUS TO GO THE CLASS

OUR COLLEGES OFTEN ORGANIZES INTERNSHIPS WITH VAROIUS RESEARCH AND INDUSTRIAL MNCs. AT THE END OF SECOND YEAR STUDENTS CAN APPLY FOR IT. LAST YEAR,FOR UG 227 OUT OF 930 REGISTERED STUDENTS GOT INTERNSHIP OFFERS.
