Who is eligible for campus placements at CET?

Students who are in their final year of UG or PG courses are eligible to join campus placements at the CET. To get in the placement round, candidates should fulfil the institute's academic criteria, that is, maintain the required CGPA, and students should not have any active backlogs while appearing for placement. Also, the students need to follow the regulations of the Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU), which might involve enrolling in placement activities, undergoing training sessions, and ensuring good attendance and behaviour during the academic year.

Do international companies visit the campus?

CET invites various international organisations during campus placements. Some of the well-known multinational organisations like Amazon Inc., Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Deloitte, KPMG International, Texas Instruments, and Daimler AG (Mercedes-Benz) have been recruiting students of CET in recent years. The companies provide salaries at par with industry standards, with some of the companies offering as much as ?34 lakh per year. 28 Jun, 2025 CET Trivandrum has released the Fee Structure 2025-26 for BE/B.Tech. The academic fee is ₹ 85,600 -₹ 1.71 Lakhs.

CET Trivandrum was established in 1939 by Shree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the Maharaja of Travancore. Ques: Is CET Trivandrum a government college?

Ans. CET Trivandrum is a government engineering college, established in 1939 by the Government of Travancore. This institute is acknowledged and managed by the Government of Kerala. It is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. As a government institution, it receives various funding and economic support from the state government and sticks to its regulations set by the educational ministries.

Ques. When does the admission process start?

Ans. The admission process at the CET begins in the first quarter of the year, but it depends on the program. For UG courses such as B.Tech and B.Arch, the admissions start in February with KEAM registration. For PG admissions like M.Tech and M.Arch, the admission starts right after GATE results, which are usually released their results in May, through CCMT. For admission to an MBA, it starts around April, based on CAT, CMAT, or KMAT scores.

The college provides nice and peaceful environment for students to study.
It not only promote studies but also promotes extracurricular activities in the campus.
College provides good facilities and faculties who promote us to reach higher heights in life.

Dislikes

The syllabus is vast which helps us to get idea about large topics but details about a particular topic is limited.
The cleanliness in the campus is not up to the mark
The laboratories provides old techniques and method instaed of using latest technique and equipment.

Students view on course curriculum

The main factor that influenced me to take bachelor's in civil engineering due to the large number of job opportunities in our societies. It covers a vast area in civil engineering but doesn't give us full details about a particular topic.Hence after completing this course a person must be able to design a basic structure in future. The other problem is the usage of older instruments and techniques in laboratory than implementing modern and latest methods and equipment. The exams are usually of moderate difficulty but since the topics are vast , in some subjects the time may not be sufficient to complete the exam.

Internship opportunity in various organization

There are many internships opportunities like ULCC, VSSC, Nits, pwds, kwa etc.There are not many internships offered by college.We have to find internships by ourselves by applying on the respective companies site. Internships helps us to gain technical knowledge and practical knowledge which helps us to develop our skills.

Various companies recruiting from the campus

Students are eligible for placements from 3rd year( semester 6).Our college brings large number of placement opportunities. Companies that visited to college during the past 5 years includes Amazon, Sobha constructions, Texas instrumentation , Deloitte , Larson & Turbo,etc.The highest package that the college got is 36lpa or electronics and communication department and the average package is 6lpa.Almost 1500 students got placed in each year.The main plan is to get placed in a good company else would go for higher studies and would crack government exams.

Fees structure and scholarship available and eligibility

During the time of admission a fee of 9600 rupees is to paid.Then for each semester the fees is around Rs.5000 to 6000.Then a fees of around Rs2000 is to be paid as exam registration fee.This fees varies according to different subjects.There are a large number of scholarships available in the campus. It includes egrantz,caste based , girl child scholarship etc.

Events organized, clubs and facilities available in the campus

There are mainly three college fests. They are disha, drishti and dhwani.Disha is conducted by 2nd years for first years and is basically a techno-cultural fest held in month of January. Drishti is technical fest and dhwani is the cultural fest and is conducted in the period April to may.There are various department fests conducted by various departments. There is a main technical library and each department had its own library. The technical provisions include laboratories, projectors,etc. Extracurricular activities includes sports meet, college dance team [WATCH THE FREAKZ], music bands[ Basant band, Mihika band], indoor and outdoor gym etc..There are different technical clubs like IEE, tinkerhub, ASCE etc.It provides a huge opportunity for students to gain technical knowledge and skills.

How to get admission in the college and what sets the college stand out ?

The eligibility of the course is that the students must have taken physics , chemistry and maths till 12th std and should clear keam conducted by CEE with required scores.After cracking keam, the admission procedure is completed through the CEE website.The admission is taken in general category hence no reservation is applied.For the exam there was two papers , one for physics and chemistry and the other for maths.The allotment process is always delayed which causes so much difficulties for the students.Also there should be more stage in admission process.

The management process is very fast and efficient
There are a lot of helpful events happening on campus frequently.
The campus had a lot of scenery and was close to nature

Some of the faculty are not as good as you would expect

Admission:

This college is the best government college in Kerala. It has been consistently first in KIRF ranking. It has very cheap fees. The campus is very beautiful and spacious (about 200 acres). My best choice of colleges very IITs and NITs like most people. I couldn't crack JEE. I only applied to this college because I had very high ranking in KEAM exam and was confident of acceptance. KEAM exam is a lot easier to crack than JEE. It has basic higher secondary school syllabus. To get my course you would have to be around 700th rank. To get other courses in my college you can have rank as low as 20k.

For admission into any college under KTU, you have to write and clear the KEAM entrance examination. You get ranked based on the score on your exam ( it covers Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics ) and allotments are provided. CET was my top choice.

There are many technical and as well as technical clubs for the students, which provide better opportunities for them
Nature friendly campus which is 125 acres. In our department girls to boys ratio is almost 1:1.

Dislikes

We will be stressful and tired most of the time. We should learn to remain emotionally stable to cope up with the college life.
Need more development inside the campus. Also not so good classrooms and all.

CET is said to be the best college in Kerala. The top rankers in KEAM mostly prefer CET over any other colleges. I didn't applied to any other colleges too. CET was my first option during allotment. And i got there in the first allotment itself. For getting into CET we need to write KEAM entrance examination. The admission is only through merit seat. And there are no management seats.

Near to each department there are canteen like stalls available for students to take sip of tea and chat. we have a park like place which is named as gazebo for the students to take a group discussion or doing projects or chatting.
In front of college there are lot of shope which we can easily access. every necessary items are available there and we dont have to travel more. near to college itself we have temple mosque and church
environment. there are lot of trees and plants. every morning and evening we can here the chirping of birds and we get fresh air. it is such a calm climate and each department has its own garden and trees that provide different fruits.

Dislikes

Dogs..there are lot of lot of dogs in our campus. they are soo annoying and in the classes also they are coming early in the morning and took the first seat . even students are late comers but these dogs are not. Every night they bark so loudly.

Admission:

I have completed diploma and there after i can directly join in to second year of btech through lateral entry examnination. In electronics and communication department there are only 6 seats available for lateral entry students. i got 3rd rank in the examination department wise and i can easily get in to this college.

Likes

The freedom that comes with being part of the government institution and having the opportunity to ask for changes from management if they took harmful decisions
There's a good boys to girls ratio in class

Admission:

You have to clear KEAM entrance examination with a good rank for admission to this college. This was my top choice. My college is the best engineering college under KTU and hardest to get into. I was glad I got in here in my first try. Therefore I did not choose other colleges under KTU.

Have library with wide range books and we can lend it

Dislikes

The college do not have proper uniforms other than lab uniform
The no ofcollege buses not according tothe strengtth of students

Admission:

CET is one of the best campus in kerala.which provide better study experience compared to other college in kerala. Its a government college and the admission according to the entrance exam. For Btwch its KEAM and for Mteh there is gate and nongate according to academic Performance

Yes, NRI students are also eligible to apply for College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. The fees will change accordingly and a valid score in KEAM entrance exam will be required.
