- Wifi is slow sometimes. Hostel rooms are not cleaned by staff.
- If cleaning required we need to request.
- Leave taking procedure is very long.curfew for 1st years at 8:30 pm
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum has been recently revised. New updation indroduces more branch based subjects from first year onwards.exams are conducted regularly. Quality assignments are also given.Subjects are taught from base so no need for computer science background.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are available from 3rd year onwards. Entire 4th year can be dedicated fir Internships. Internship opportunities are mainly based on cgpa. Google,oracle,Qualcomm etc offer internships at nit calicut.
Placement Experience
Qualcomm, ibs,Infosys etc visits. Highest package was 55 lakhs. Average package is 20 lakhs. Nearly 100 % placement in computer science engineering. After degree joining get a job through campus placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
*Generally, 125000 per year fee. *If income less than five lakh, 41,677. *If income less than one lakh, no fee. *SC ST Candidates, no fee *A total of 75,000 at admission apart tution fee. *60,000 hostel fee.
Campus Life
A cultural fest called "ragam" and technical fest called "tathva" are held every year. Ragam is south india's largest cultural fest. A large library is arranged here in nitc. There is a large collection of engineering and literature reference books available here. Many extracurricular activities are available here, eg;ncc,nss etc. Many student clubs are running here
Hostel Facilities
Free wifi, hot and cold water for both drinking washing purposes are available. An app specifically dedicated for hostel is available through which registration and payment is done. Many messes are available to choose from. The food is tasty and balanced.
Admission
Other colleges i got were cusat, cet, tkm kollam. I chose nit calicut, since it is included in top tier colleges in India. It is included in top 5 nits. Nit Calicut has placement records with average annual package of 20 lakh. I could not apply for iits since i didn't qualify jee advanced. I got admission to nit calicut through josaa counselling after clearing jee mains. There is also csab counselling if needed after josaa.overall admission procedure was smooth.
Faculty
Faculty and students get along very well.But it is a bit hard to reach out to them in person but can be done easily in emails. quizzes are conducted timely. The course curriculum has been updated in 2023. New curriculum is better and focus more computer science related subjects from first yeaar onwards.
