Course Curriculum Overview

4

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college provides good internship opportunities through campus placements, faculty research and off-campus applications. they have signed many MOUs with companies and other colleges. From top comapnies like Oracle ,Texas Instruments, Amex, Goldmann sachs, jp Morgan & chase etc to startups will take part in the internships & the stipend varies based on the campanies from 2 lakh per month to 10k per month. For more details about the companies you can refer campus placement website. Internships help students to gain practical experience, industry exposture and improve placement opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total cost of studying at NITC depends mainly on the student's category and hostel usage .General category students typically spend around 10 lakhs for the entire 4 year program, while SC/ST students spend significantly less due to tution fee waier and scholarships .The fee sturcture includes tution, admission, hostels, and other infrasturcture usages.and also based on the income students will get fee wavier - 100% for students with income less than 1 lakh , 2/3 for students with income between 1lakh and 5 lakh irrespective of their category. The available scholarships fr atudents are Merit Cum Means Scholarship, E-Grantz(kerala Govt.) ,SILA scholarship ,SPDC Scholarship and many more are there. Refer Institute website for detailed information.

Campus Life

5

Campus Life is vibrant with major fests like RAGAM(Cultural Fest -March) and TATHVA (Technical Fest- October)attracting large participation. The library offers wide range of academic books, journals, and classrooms have basic digital facilities. All the labs are open for everyone for doing projects or research purpose.Sports such as football, basketball, atheletics, badminton, and many other sports are actively supported. Numerous Clubs include RIG , Unwired, Aero-unwired ,Ai -club ,Club mathematica, etc are there to boost students growth.

Admission

I chose this college because of strong reputation , good placements and quality of education. I applied to other NITs and state engineering colleges and received some admissions, but selected this college because I preffered Electrical Engineering. In some higher ranked colleges, I was getting lower-preference branches,so I chose a good branch in a good college instead. Admission is based on the JEE Main score through JoSAA counselling. The admission process was transparent and conducted online , and the overall experience was smooth.

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio is around 1:17. I can't name one, Most faculty members are knowledgeable and approachable, though teaching quality varies. Each semester has 1 mid-sem and 1 end-sem, plus assignments ,projects and labs (for continuous evaluation).Typical marking will be 25 - 30% for mid sem , 50% for end sem and 20 -25% internal assessment. Exams are moderately difficult, and a small % of students may fail challenging subjects , but they subsequent exams which will help them to clear the subject within the same semester.

Night Life

5

Nightlife on campus is very active , Students usually unwind at canteens ,Hostels , OAT , amphiteatre and sport areas. The campus has Gyms , Sports complex and hostels have common rooms , indoor game areas , TV facilities etc., Most academic buildings will be closed in the evening while hostels , library and some other places will be available 24/7. Famous hangout places near campus are restaurants include Smokeys , Bake house, Broast , Foodies etc ,Beaches like Kozhikode beach , Kappad beach , Beypore Beach etc .The locality is very safe to roam around at night.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
