Likes
- All the teachers are well qualified and equipped to teach but the quality of teaching differs as per individual.
Dislikes
- The say of students in matters concerning them or others is nil. We have very little say as the management takes all decisons.
- Teachers have ego and superiority issues between themselves which might affect the children in 4th year,project phases.
- Fests,events and functions are not upto any expectations.Schools in trivandrum have better events than our college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The KTU syllabus is good on the theoritical side.The practical side is nil. None of the students have any practical knowledge even after labs and assignments as industry does not expect that. The new syllabus that the autonomous batches have is good. They value theory and practical equally and also have a 6 month mandatory internship period.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunity is low. We students approach government organisations and avail internships. The certificates are then presented to the college for activity points. Our projects are done in 4th year and some students had collaborated with SMART CITY PROJECTS.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is 85,00,000 ? per year (2 semesters) as advised by the government for private colleges. Financial aid is provided for SC/ST STUDENTS. Scholarships is not provided by the college as such . There is a capable placement cell in college that would connect students to companies for jobs and internships.
Campus Life
Crossroads is the college festival, held annually. But it may get cancelled depending on the management's convenience. They are held in july- august periods. The library is large ,accessible and informative. Any student can take books and avail library facilities. sports are taken up according to the students interests. We had volleyball,football, cricket,kabbadi and handball tournaments.
Admission
I was an NRI student. I wrote the keam exam but did not have the required marks. We were to pay a donation fees of 4.5 lakhs in the beginning. The rest of the fees structure was same as all other students. The admission information is always updated in the mbcet website. Examinations are conducted by the exam cell. It is on time and in accordance to the exam calender.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is great here ..about 1 teacher for 60 students is the norm here. Teachers are well qualified but their teaching methods are questionable.Even though the curriculum mentions interactive learning and hands on experience ,most of the teaching is through PPTS. The teachers reads them and we write notes. We can approach them anytime here without any resentment from their side and can look into doubts. Each 20 students are also assigned an advisor who is their main contact point in the college.
