09 Jun, 2025 SCTCE Thiruvananthapuram has released the Fee Structure 2025-26 for PG programs. The academic fee is ₹ 1.22 Lakhs/Yr.

Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram was established in 1995 by the Govt. of Kerala in memory of the Great Maharaja of Travancore. Affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University Kerala, it is AICTE and NBA approved. Additionally, the institute is NAAC accredited. In 2024, SCTCE was ranked 189 for Engineering by The Week.

SCTCE BTech is the flagship course, offered in 6 specialisations. Candidates should have cleared 10+2 with 50%, along with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, as mandatory subjects. SCTCE Admissions 2025

SCTCE enrolls candidates based on their National/State Level Entrance scores. Eligible candidates, if interested, can follow the steps given below to apply to SCTCE.

Candidates seeking admission should fill an online application through the official CEE Kerala website.
An application fee of INR 800 (General candidates), INR 400 (SC candidates), No fee (ST candidates) should be submitted while registration through the available payment modes.
Candidates can submit the application fee through either of the two following methods:
Online Payment: The fee may be paid by credit card/debit card/Internet Banking.

E-Challan: In case of payment through e-Challan, the payment should be made in the selected branches of State Bank of Travancore (SBT) in India or all Head /Sub Post Offices in Kerala, in cash. The printout of the online submitted Application can be taken only after successful payment of Application Fee.
Duly filled-in applications along with the other relevant documents must be enclosed and sent in an A4 sized envelope through Hand Delivery/Registered Post/Speed Post to the following address:

SCTCE Placements 2025

SCTCE Placement Report 2025 has not been released yet. However, the institute recorded a placement percentage of 35%. Out of 505 registered students, 176 were placed. As per SCTCE NIRF Report 2025, SCTCE median package for BTech was INR 5.2 LPA. For MTech, the median salary stood at INR 5.1 Lakhs.

R Deepak Nair, a BTech CSE student at SCTCE states that students start receiving placement opportunities from 7th semester. The average placements, especially for computer and electronic departments are very good. Placements for all different companies for mechanical and biotechnology departments are satisfactory. The highest usual package is around 10 LPA. Around 80% students on average receive offer letters.

SCTCE Scholarships 2025

SCTCE provides scholarships to students from various categories.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme: In each programme, an additional 10% of students are allotted from the KEAM rank list by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Govt. of Kerala, under the Tuition Fee Waiver scheme for women/ economically backward/ physically handicapped meritorious student.
Dr Ruchi Sharma Endowment Scholarship: This scholarship was instituted in fond memory of Dr. Ruchi Sharma, student of Mechanical Production Engineering branch during the academic year 1999-2003. In order to enlighten her memory forever in the eld of education, the parents along with her Mechanical Production 1999 -2003 batch class mates, started a scholarship in the name of Dr. Ruchi Sharma. This scholarship is meant for those students who emerged as the topper in the university exam in the first and second semester exam.

SCTCE Campus & Facilities

SCTCE is spread over a 12.5 acre, lush-green campus. The SCTCE campus is home to some of the best facilities, providing the students with a home-like ambience, away from home.

Central Computing Facility: The Central Computing Facility (CCF) acts as the nodal centre for all networking related issues of the college. A fibre optic network connects the various departments with the CCF. It is an approved facilitation centre by Govt. of Kerala for providing online registration facilities for candidates in the CEE. The college computing facilities are also used for the conduct of various online tests by external agencies like RRB, VSSC, Postal Department etc.
Central Library: The Central library has more than 32,000 books and 66 national and international journals/magazines. Apart from the Conventional Library, there exists a Digital library which contains sufficient digital documents such as E-books, E-journals, Technical Reports, and Project Reports etc.
Transportation: The institution operates one College bus and is managed by a committee. Buses follow the same routes in the morning and evening.
Sports Facilities: The institute has a Basketball court, Badminton court, Volley ball court, Nets for practicing cricket and a practice facility for Handball.There is a Physical Education Officer appointed in the college on contract basis from PTA to overlook sports activities.
Canteen
Hostels: Hostel committee functioning in the college is to provide hostel facilities to the students. Every year, the hostel committee invites quotations from various hostels to provide hostel facilities within 7 KMs from the campus.

The facilities for labwork are extensive. Since it's not a private college in normal terms, the students have more freedom. You get good library facilities as well. You can get lab membership at Kerala university library additionally. All of the batchmates who did biotech are placed either abroad or at home in good positions.

Ans. Based on student testimonials, SCTCE is a semi govt college run by KSRTC. The campus area is small, but the sports scenes are all active. College life:A summary

Likes

College is near bus stop which is very helpful .
Has many good friends who are supportive and really kind.
College is located near city which is helpful to access.

Dislikes

There is no hostel service by the college which is really big problem.
Its a very small college compared to other colleges.
Biotech labs are situated at an inner corner and not much facilities

What are students view on course curriculum of the college?

So our curicullum includes good subjects as well as few irrelevant subjects eventough wea re biotechnology and Biochemical the subjects tends to incline more to Biochemical aspect and less biotechnology. When it comes to lab knowledge its very less comparatively. When it comes to real world perspective the knowledge we acquire here is not so good. Difficulty level of exams are fine whereas the timing of exams sometimes seems of Course curriculum needed to be improved accordin to the subject preferences. Teaching beeded to be more interactive and not only classroom nature.

What is the total fees of the course?

The fees is around 50k to 60k. Each yrar they tend to increase fees also it includes tution lab caution and also cult a way. Since i am a merit student my fees is this much but my friends entered through management pay around a lakh a year. Also there are students who belongs to OEC cast pays on around 2000 only. Also there are students who fet scholarships they get the money reimbursed.

College events and infrastructure available in campus

Almost all evebts and festivals are done by students. The faculty always find problems in them. Anyway our college conduct a three day arts festival in kanakunnu palace every year called cult a way which is a very big festival last year ankit tiwari performed before that shilpa rao performed. Also sport nss and many clubs exist. Usually sports are conducted in any other stadium because our college is small and really doesn't have a big ground. March is when cult a way is held. All classrooms has projecters and connections also every departments have their own seminar halls as well as a common seminar hall which is much bigger

Faculties, mentorship and evaluation criteria followed in campus

So our department faculty is actually kind of fine but a little bit strict when approaching for events .our advisor is very supportive for everything. When it comes to exams after the first series everything will be so tight packed with exams and evaluation of our university is very bad. There is two internam exam and one university exam. Also they cut short 6 month sem to a 3 month sem which make it so difficult to keep up and not a proper joliday between sems one time the class started the next day after the exam. But theese things are not decided bybthe college it is under the control of ktu university.

Admission Process of the college

Ok i was preparing for neet and then didn't score needed marks. I selected this course because its biotechnology related but it is not much it. Also i git admission for bpharm in a college but i didn't go because i was nit that interested. There is only very few biotechnology courses in kerala.Admission in our college is by considering keam marks there is also management seats which require more fees but it also consider keam marks.i didn't really applied to other college to get rejected. Also i tried for nursing government seats after 1 year repeat for neet but didn't get eventough i have 95% mark in plus two because that year due to covid alla students had huge mark

Night Life

As already mentione our college is very small and doesn't really have hangout spots there is a mini cantern which is surrounded by few trees which is.the normal hangout spot and also main canteen. Library is not much used as other colleges but i has an area where students can do their works and provides wifi normally students who wants to do their projects assigned seminars go there . No nightlife 8s allowed at college the gates will closed around 6pm and if there is any events going on we have to take permission prior to that otherwise the students will be dispersed there itself. The locality is fine to roam at night but has problems all places face.

I acually applied for Emmanuel college vazhichal for the curse of biotechnology andbotany . I got the admission right away but the problem was with the distance. It was difficult for me to travel sucha long distance. I also got admission at LBS college of engineering for IT. But i was not sure of taking a subject which is related to computer si dropped it. I wan't rejected by any of the colleges that i applied. The admission process concluded KEAM exam results and spot admissions.

SCTCE- A WORTHWHILE EXPERIENCE

Likes

the boy to girl ratio is 1:1. but could vary with what department you choose.
many extra curricular clubs and sports events are there to showcase our creative skills.

Dislikes

the college ground and the campus is small.
there are different unions to be a part of.

Admission:

applied to a lot of government colleges. this is also a semi government college and is good on its own. i did not qualify to the other colleges to the higher mark criteria. the admission process is done via KEAM. you need to have a minimum pass percentage (check google for KEAM exam qualifications and details for further information).

SCT and It's Facilities.

Admission:

For me, this was the best college I could get into. I got admission in Mar Baselios College of Engineering also. But, on the next allotment, I chose SCT over it. I didn't get any rejection from any colleges.

Sree Chitra Thirunal college in Trivandrium is one of the most famous and best college. There are keam exams in kerala for admission, and for students from polytechnic have and exam called LET exam so they can directly enter second year

I had applied for both college of engineering trivandrum and sree chithra Thirunal College of engineering for the computer science stream. But due to my rank I missed out ona seat in cet and got admission here

I like the freedom I get in my college .
I like the trees that are in my clg which gives a cool atmosphere.
Really a nice college with many sports and arts.

The limited space which is a drawback in my clg.

I chooses this college because itss the top most ranked college in trivandrum and it provides great placement offers and a good campus atmosphere for studying and for participating in various curricular activities

Likes

The Classrooms give a nostalgic feel about your college

Dislikes

Lack of cleanliness in the college and bad maintenance of labs
There is no ground for playing in the college
Lot of politics in the college , many political parties

Admission:

I chose SCT college because it is near to my house. And from 10th standard onwards, I had a liking to go the college. The college is very well known for its campus placement. The teaching staff present here are too good.
