FISAT Kerala Campus

Federal Institute of Science and Technology a permanent campus at Hormis Nagar in Mookkannoor, near Angamaly, Ernakulam district, Kerala. It is located approximately 7 Km from Angamaly Railway Station and about 11 Km from Cochin International Airport. Campus is spread over nearly 40 acres, the campus offers a range of facilities including computer labs, health services, a well-stocked library, shopping complex, auditorium and more.

According to the review of students, the campus is neat and clean, nature-friendly. The hostel is good compared to other colleges. But the location of the campus is far from the public transport facilities. Lift facilities are unfair as there is only one lift, which is always overloaded, and students have to climb to the fourth floor.

My opinion on fisat

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

I was actually not very interested in this course but end up taking this as my parents liked it But i slowly became adjusted to it and now i am happy about my course Taking this course would allow us to work in core electrical industries and can get a good salary based on the skill The frequency of exams are very high A lot of work is given like homeworks, projects, lab record along with these exams so it would also be hard to study

What are the internship opportunities in the campus?

The registration and newses on ongoig Internships are send to students via whatsapp group and there are dedicated people to do this So many top tier institutions provide high value certificates and even provide high stipend for doing internships at their institutions which will also helps us when we are applying for a job

What are the placement opportunities in the college and highest package?

The placement statitics of fisat os very high with an average package of 517000 per year and a highest package touching more than 1700000 per year The placemnt procedures usually starts from 7th semester but our college provides placement training from 3rd semester onwards Our college have a very good placement cell and therefore so many top tier and core companies visits our campus According to my knowledge Almost all students with no backlogs are able to secure a good job via placement My plan is also to get a good job via placement with a decent salary

Yearly fees structure of the course

The annual fee of the college is 93500 per year It includes also fee like pta fund, value added course, lab fees, examination fees etc.. A caution fee of 10000 is also needed for the first time Extra payment should be done for the uniform which is about 3500 rs Some of my classmates who are NRI quota and with low marks or rank are paying almost 1.4 lakhs as tution fee a year Our institution provides various scholarships for students with low keam rank and students with low family income

Various clubs, evengts and library of the campus

There are many fests that are happening in our college So many inter and intra college fest, workshops, hackathons, culturals etc are happening in our college throughout the year The main event of our college ia bharatham which occurs only in 2 years Our college have a very large library which students can access even after college timings Our college also promotes extracurricular activities very well our college have almost all sports facilities and our college teams have won many championships There are also many student clubs like nss, ncc, ieee, iedc etc. Which organises many events and helps in networking

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

There are a lot of faculties in fisat. The student to faculty ratio is very high, every 20 students have an individual group advisor whom we can contact for any help or doubts. Most of the teachers are highly educated and can be contacted any time for asking doubts 2 series exams are conducted in a semester by which our internal marks are calculated which will be adding up with our semester exam The series exams are easy to clear but we need to study well to clear the semester exam Class test will also be conducted depending on the teacher

What is the admission process of the campus?

I have chosen this college over sjcet is mainly because of the placement statitics and academic excellence. The average package of fisat is 5.17lakhs per annum with a highest package of above 17 lakhs per annum The other reason is that if i have chosen sjcet i would have to stay in hostel whereas i can be a dayscholar in fisat I didnt got any rejection from sjcet infact they offered me eee seat for only 35k per year The admission in fisat can be either by seat allotment from keam or by directly visiting the college or contacting them The admission procedure are very fast and efficient

FISAT: 11 Answered Questions

Which is better, FISAT or CUSAT SOE (mechanical)?

Meghdeepa Mondal
Bipul JhaB.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT)

CUSAT SOE Mechanical is better than FISAT. It is among the most reputed technological institutes in the region. CUSAT offers excellent facilities and opportunities. The Mechanical department has a brilliant faculty base.

According to CUSAT placements of recent years, the average CTC for Mechanical branch is around INR 5 LPA. Godrej, L&T, Vedanta, etc. are among the core companies that recruit through the campus drive. PSU and IT companies also recruit Mechanical Students.

Which is better in terms of placements, SCT Trivandrum or a private college like Rajagiri, FISAT or SCMS?

Nikhil Ranjan
Sangita MukharjeeB.Tech Mechanical Engineering, SCMS School Of Engineering and Technology (2020)

It entirely depends on the branch that you are choosing. If you go for CSE then all the colleges SCT, RAJAGIRI, FISAT, SCMS have good placements opportunities. But in the case of other branches, Kerala colleges have a low level of placement except for NITs and IITs.

Good placements are available only for software firms and not for your core jobs. All the colleges above are good and will help you to attain the skills required for different jobs.

And everything depends on you how much effort you will give to your course so that you can obtain experience as well as knowledge so that you can get a good job apart from your college placements

Should I join CUSAT or FISAT for CS engineering?

Diksha BoseB.Tech CSE, IIT BHU (2019)

Both the Cochin University of Science And Technology (CUSAT) and Federal Institute of Science And Technology (FISAT) are very good institutes and have almost similar rankings in the state of Kerala. Now you can compare both the institutes on various parameters. I have taken two broad and the most popular parameters for this comparison.

Placement - In this regard, the School of Engineering (SoE) of CUSAT is better than FISAT. According to the recent placement statistics, the average and highest CTC offered at CUSAT is 4 LPA and 15 LPA respectively. Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad (CUCEK) campus of CUSAT is also similar to SoE in terms of placements.

Infrastructure - Here FISAT takes an upper hand and has better facilities than both SoE and CUCEK. SoE is slightly good and is comparable to FISAT but CUCEK lacks a lot of facilities compared to both.

So it totally depends on you and what your priorities are. If you only aim for placements then choose CUSAT. If you want good infrastructure, then FISAT is preferable.

How good is the E&I department of FISAT?

Gargi SenguptaB.Tech from Federal Institute of Science and Technology (2019)

The E&I department at FISAT is an exceptional one. I have a friend who attended the institute and here’s what he had to say about it. If you have a general idea about instrumentation and are determined regarding it in the future then FISAT would be the best fit for you.

  • At FISAT, you would come across the best of lab facilities which are not available in many institutes, and the finest faculty base.
  • This institute provides an environment for the growth and development of personality. You would be able to create memories to cherish forever in this college. Enjoying your college life would not be troublesome as there are present many spots for you to hang out with your friends around the campus.
  • Unlike other colleges, FISAT is quite on the lenient side. The authorities are not that strict about uniforms and wearing ID cards.
  • Placement opportunities are decent given you do not have any backlogs. It wouldn’t be wise to expect offer packages from core companies. Unless you tend to be exceptionally skillful and hardworking in your field or have contacts with higher-ups and influential people, landing a good placement in core companies would be of great difficulty.

Overall FISAT will give you a great college life and good facilities.

Academics: (Winning Institution - Amrita University)

  • The syllabus and especially the question paper is not the traditional type but rather stimulates you to think.
  • They have a much advanced, updated curriculum and it is possible because they don’t come under any university and hence have the liberty to mold according to the latest industry standards.

Placement: (Winning Institution - Amrita University)

  • It is not easier to get placed from Amrita because you study in Amrita does not mean you will get high placements because the crowd in Amrita is more competitive.
  • All those who missed out on JEE come to Amrita. Top companies like Microsoft, Facebook, CISCO recruit only from Amrita out of those mentioned.

Campus Life: (Winning Institution - Amrita University)

  • The clubs in Amrita are almost international, as it conducts the prestigious ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest). Which itself is a benchmark to look for, acknowledging non-premier institutes like IITs, NITs, and BITs.
  • The clubs in Amrita are more diverse and active. It's tech-fest ANOKHA is also much better.

If you don’t have a blend with a very diverse crowd go for Amrita. Going by all the factors mentioned above, it is safe to say that Amrita University is a better alternative.

Placement: (Winning Institution - FISAT)

  • FISAT offers decent on-campus internships by TCS.
  • The placements are comparatively lower than FISAT as FISAT has good connectivity to Kerala and it has the largest intake, so FISAT has an advantage over AMAL JYOTHI.

FISAT is ahead of Amal Jyothi in many ways but it also depends a lot on what course you would like. Visit both the campus and judge for yourself, which institute will be better for you.
