Nit Calicut - Good Side and Worse Side

the curriculum is revised in 2023 removing major unnecessary portions and adding some useful ones. the curriculum may be little bit slow or weak burt the teachers often wanted us to make projects industry level so we can be competent. good for some but very pressure for average and weak students. exams come and go in a blink.

many companies come to give internships in 5th sem. TCs, Deloitte Snapdragon are some of the companies. there is ccd over here which helps us in registering process for internships. Most of them get internships over here.

we get placements mostly in the post 6th sem or in 7th sem. Some major companies like texas instruments offer good packages here. others include meesho, goldmans sachs, dell, bpl. Highest package is around 50lakh for ece students and around 70 lakh for cse. more than 80 percent get placed from cse and ece but is only around 20 percent in branches like production engineering, engineering physics. less core companies than it ones

I am paying 72,000 per semester, this is the tution fee, all other fee include 45000 at the time of admission, and around 1L for hostels including mess. meanwhile we get concessions for categories and ews. but not for government employed parents.

two major fests. Ragam cultural festival in even sem and Tathva Technical fest in Odd sem. The fests are too good to experience but costly and majority of funds collected from students. The library is Ok, not too good and not too bad You get a decent range of books. Very good for people interested in sports. They can explore as their wish and even condonations will be provided for such ones. many student clubs. some of them are recognised ones like aerounwired, unwired, and rig.

the first year hostels is old but decent. from 2nd year you will be in mega hostel where no signal in most rooms. and small rooms too as it has only 2 people per room. there are many messes over here which offer different style of foods we can opt every month, which we need. registration process is very easy through app.

we need to get rank in jee for admission. i joined this college according to my rank. this college is Ok compared to other colleges. But very old buildings as it is converted nit from rec kerala. but all other nits are having new buildings. admission process is very simple. all instructions and required documents are informed you earlier through mail after seat allotment in josaa.

Marking system is mostly relative. And more faculties are strict about correction and copying things. Attendance was not an issue in 1st year but not in further years. There are more than required faculty such that no course is neglected. I dont like especially the management here. because they often assign teachers whose domain is different but need to teach other domain subjects. two exams mid and end. and some quizzes and assignments. Some faculties it is tough to pass but most of it is easy.

there are gyms but only subscription based not like other colleges. In first sem we should be in hostels by 8 30. which later will be extended to 11. campus will be open from 7 to 9 and we can use whenever. There are many cool beaches in Kozhikode like beypore which is 20 km away. and many hill view points and small waterfalls.
