Course Curriculum Overview

4

Studying in B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering the course is highly relevant in today's day and time. All departments tend to keep their course curriculum up to date with inclusion of latest trends in the industry so that the students don't have any lack of knowledge during their real world application. The course however lacks efficient teaching methods and rests on the old world black board and chalk which is an individuals choice of preference. Some teachers can give notes while some wouldn't move a chalk while still explain the concepts crystal clear. Exams can be tedious but they are well spread so as the students don't have a hard time.

Internships Opportunities

2

Many companies offer summer internships for both core and software curriculum. The companies offer high paying internships. In the year 2024, about 980 students had registered for the college internship while only 227 got the internship. Thus the competition for internships are pretty high but it ensures an individual's own growth in his field. The highest paid internship was Sprinklr with around 2.5L per month for 2 months summer internship.More companies like P&G for management and Bajaj and TVS for core are also invited for both internships and placements.

Placement Experience

3

Students can apply for campus placements by the beginning of the 4th year.High paying companies are attracted by the placement cell which offer good packages to the students. The average packages for the circuital branch are pretty high. Each year about 200 companies are invited. The highest package for Electrical and Electronics has gone upto 38LPA with average package of about 14LPA in the graduation year 2024.About 128 students had registered out of which 120 students were placed. The minimum salary offered was 5LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tution fee is justified for the amount of knowledge and experience they tend to offer in the span of the 4 years of college. For general category students it is around Rs.67,000 per semester as the course has 8 semesters in the 4 years.Reservations are there for OBC and SC/ST students where the fees are reduced and one can also apply for scholarship where the institute tends to pay 100% of the fees of the students. The hostel and mess fee is significantly low to about Rs.5000 per month. The campus also provides employment oppurtinites where you can be a professor's aid or work in the library getting decent enough stipend for a student in the campus.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is one of the best for any college. The campus has low to none restrictions like getting out at night to catch up with some food or anything else. The campus remains open throughout and is safe. There are 2 fests: Tathva and Ragam which are one of India's most grandest fests of all time.It has been awarded by numerous personnel and called out as South India's biggest fests.Tathva is held in November and Ragam is held in March. There are numerous clubs in the college all run by students and for the students. The club offers much experience to the students and can be one of the best oppurtinities for the students to showcase what they got without any fear or hesitation. The campus has Basketball courts, badminton courts, cricket and football field and a olympic size swimming pool along with a tennis court. Thus offering one of the best sports infrastructure to be seen compared to any other college.

Admission

You can enter NIT Calicut through JEE Mains but scoring above 98%ile for a general male category student. The admission process is first you need to go through jossa counselling where you put your choices and then you can apply for a spot round through CSAB.Both the counselling has quite low fees and they tend to go for a week or so. There are reservation benefits that the students can avail. There are options for home state vs other state students along with GEN,OBC,SC/ST,EWS, and PWD students.Females also get reservation for there admission. JEE Mains is the exam you need to qualify to get entrance in this prestigious college.

Faculty

3.5

In NIT Calicut, each student will come under a FA called as Faculty Advisor. They will be like your class teacher for the 4 years of your B.Tech life and they will look after you like a parent. Each FA has around 10 students under him thus giving them attention and mentorship altogether without missing out on anyone. Further the faculty taking courses are highly trained and experienced and do not miss out on teaching the concepts with 100% understanding to the students. They are often available and encourage students to approach them if they are having any trouble whether it be academics or in life.

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.
